My cat seems to be like this as well

He like... We were setting up a christmas tree, and he decided that it would be playtime

So he hopped up into the tree as we were putting it together (We have a fake one because easier cleanup)

He ended up almost knocking the whole thing over

The cat knows that once the owner gets the car fixed they're going straight to the vet.

RANDOM FACT: cats don't learn from punishment like dogs do

Physical punishment works for my cat. I've trained him to stay off the counters, to jump up onto me when I call him, to play fetch, to not leave the room if I'm in it, and to not break anything of mine.

All with a water bottle squirter and an exercise ball (he's terrified of it for some reason, if I place it near him or put him in a room with it he freaks out.)

Cats are very clever and can learn, you just have to say firmly no. My cat knows sleeping on sofa is not acceptable, but we have compromised - she can sleep on my lap even if I'm on the couch. Sometimes she tried to sneak, but nowadays she doesn't even try. Cats just don't have the need to please like dogs, so it's about being equal, not bossing each other around.

We've thought all our cats to not **** with the christmas decorations or walk on the kitchen counter by squirting water on them and make loud noises. We did it when they were kittens and they have never ****** with anything they shouldn't as adults.

I catch one of them on the kitchen counter every once in a while, but when he sees me he gets this super-guilty look on his face and gets down immediately. It's great being boss.

Your cat will only learn to fear you, but she/he will never learn from punishment what she/he did wrong. They don't understand negative reinforcements. Thats why they are so difficult to train.

My cat does, after a few tries.

Kitty scratches furniture? Squirt with water. Kitty does again? Repeat. They learn after a few tries what they can do and what will get them water punishment.

I've never actually owned a cat, but I know they CAN learn who is the dominant one. I "shared" a cat with a friend of mine for a while and for a while him and I were the only ones in his family that Boo (the cat) would stay still for. Every one else in his family wasn't able to hold Boo for more than a few minutes because Boo would just jump out of their arms. He got Boo as a small kitten (for me, but I couldn't keep him) and me and him weren't afraid to snap him in the nose or give him a reasonable smack when he was being a little ****. Even when he got bigger. So for the longest time he knew not to be a little **** for me and my friend. But **** happened and I wasn't around for a while and Boo lost that "respect" for me. (Cause I wasn't around to whoop his ass, and my friend gave up too... also Boo got his ass handed to him by another cat and just turned into a Dick).

So, I want to agree. But I had that experience with a cat. A male, solid black dick of a cat. Who still even today will some times calm down when I hold him. (not for long any more, but the others notice it) Discipline maybe not... Dominance... I think so
