This may sound like complete and utter ******** , but I honestly don't remember having any trouble with the Water Temple.

Then again, I did play OOT on the Wii, not on the N64.

So when you all say you had trouble with the water temple, is this something to do with the N64? Like, did the Wii version improve that specific part of the game? Otherwise I literally had no problems with that part whatsoever.

If anyone gets what I'm saying...

I don't think Water Temple is even that bad, it's just kind of tedious, Shadow Temple is way worse

the only problem with the water temple was that if you messed up, you could actually trap yourself in there

We must have different dictionaries.

The state of being seriously mentally ill; madness.
Extreme foolishness or irrationality.

I've never played any Zelda game. Can someone explain to me what is so hard about that level?

there is one or two keys that are very difficult to find because they are only accessible at a certain water level and in order to find them. So if you miss one, you have to go from step one again and make sure you check every room tediously.

Other than that, you fight arguably the hardest monster in the game, yourself as dark link.

The repetition just gets to peoples heads and everyone has a different experience based on how they approach puzzles.

If you play it, play the original on 64, the 3DS version is severely dumbed down...

It's more tedious than anything else.
You must equip the iron boots to sink and walk underwater... then unequip in order to surface
The maze of this particular temple is also considered the most difficult of the others, as you must constantly change the water levels to access new areas, so it has a lot of re-used space

tedious repetition + game's hardest maze

I have beaten the game more times than I can remember, using the ******* book, and I STILL have issues with the goddamn Water Temple! It's the only thing in the whole game I have to use the book for.

For starters its very complex, you have to change the water levels to progress. You also have to constantly change from leather boots to iron boots, which was a pain in the ass because you had to open the menu everytime.

Fortunately, in the remake, they made it so you can change the boots easier and faster.

Anyways, once you know what you got to do, you realize it wasn't hard at all, but hell, it is still annoying.

<My face the first time in this god damn temple.

You need a key for at least 66% of the doors in that temple. The rest are either barred or flooded by water. Most of the barred doors are time challenges activated by a switch, you have to raise and lower the water to advance in the temple, and it has of the most frustrating sub bosses ever. How was I supposed to guess that the secret to beating Dark Link was to not target him? No matter how many times people play that temple we always get lost and forget what to do next. If you play it and get through it really quickly don't announce it on the internet. Everyone won't believe you and just assume your full of **** and thumb you down. Any one out there want to add onto something I might have missed?

I would say that this is merely chaos. But in the end, where does the edge of insanity lie?
User avatar #11 to #7 - TheHutchie (12/04/2012) [-]
If you mean the Vaas and Far Cry 3 part, it's actually the dictionary definition of insanity he's quoting. If you mean the Zelda part, I have no idea.

If you are doing the exact same **** over and over in the Water Temple we may have found your problem. Kind of hard to accomplish anything doing that
