technically not actually vampires. They are infected with a bacteria that can't reproduce in the sunlight, which therefore kills them. Stakes work because the bactera being exposed to oxygen when it is in a dormant state makes them splode. The infected ones think they are vampires because the symptoms are rather close. That was me being a douchebag for the night, and having to correct someone about one of my favorite books. Sorry.

still more vampire then zombie, douche

"-extreme sensitivity to light
-disease passed through blood
-maintains civilization/social structure
-increased speed, endurance, and mobility
-intellect maintained
-increased vision, hearing, and sense of smell

I'd say those are vampires, bro. Especially since they were referred to a couple times in the book as vampires."

This was just to quote a post down below to help point some **** out bro.

Really? I kind of thought of them as more of the Left 4 Dead style. Infected, smart mutants with a hunger for humans.

Zombieland doesn't seem that hard to survive in, the only evidence that we have that they're not easy to kill is the fact that there are so few people around, among them being a shut-in, a redneck, and very young two con-women.

Oh god that was a creepy ******* story.

But it raises a question for me:

If they are not only conscious, but fully aware of what they are doing and I assume who they are, why do they act in this intelligent, yet brutal fashion? It'd be one thing if they were aware, and thinking, but incoherent and insane, or just aggressive beyond reason, but they aren't. They're catcalls were clear indications that they were in control of their mental state, they knew what they were doing, and enjoyed it. What could possibly make it like that?
User avatar #89 to #77 - theoriginaltyson (12/03/2012) [-]
Something as simple as different chemical balances in the brain could do that
User avatar #119 to #89 - konradkurze (12/03/2012) [-]
makes me think of the old movie 'Warning Sign'

some scientists spill a virus in their lab and they all die, but come back fully conscious and full of rage, and start tryng to kill or infect all the others in the facility

a couple of scientists from outside break in and invent a cure, and some of the infected run away afraid of being cured

what about "i am legend" zombies?
#72 to #64 - Matengel (12/03/2012) [-]
I'd put them in the upper right, they were pretty fast and the whole point of the novel was to show that they had intelligence and that the character Will Smith plays (I can't remember his name) in the movie is the real monster for subjecting the infected to his experiments.
User avatar #85 to #72 - trolliuskingtroll (12/03/2012) [-]
that's interesting i never thought of it that way
User avatar #84 to #72 - blackhawksfan (12/03/2012) [-]
His experiments were trying to find a cure for the disease though, which he did.
#90 to #84 - Matengel (12/03/2012) [-]
The movie's ending was not how the novel ended. In the novel he wheels the zombie on the stretcher out to the alpha zombie and they go their separate ways.

The graph has this thing called a legend. In it, you can see that there are Undead, Diseased, and Possessed type zombies. Sorry, but you're an idiot.
User avatar #96 to #71 - wolfdogone (12/03/2012) [-]
but the point is, the monsters in i am legend were based on vampires. which, yeah, are undead, but aren't zombies in the literary/film historical aspect
#99 to #96 - Matengel (12/03/2012) [-]
No... they were created by some retarded doctor who thought she had found the cure to cancer... That's why they were burned by the sun's rays
User avatar #106 to #99 - wolfdogone (12/03/2012) [-]
i'm talking about the book. the original book, by richard matheson. you know, the one the movie was supposedly an adaptation of? the will smith version was just a remake of a remake of a retelling of the book.
#109 to #106 - Matengel (12/03/2012) [-]
orly? I was told by a family video clerk to watch the alternate ending to the movie which i read was more accurate to the novel, I assumed the rest of the details were similar, I never actually read the novel. I'm sorry for my stupidity :/

no, there was no stupidity on your part, you were just misinformed. i would suggest reading the book, though, since it is quite a good tale

FJ's opinion on World War Z trailer? www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcwTxRuq-uk

Personally, I'm pissed that Brad Pitt is in it, because let's face it, the movie is gonna be about him and not the zombies. And also, they run. Max Brooks mentions their mobility a lot in the books and they quite clearly, in his universe, cannot run.
User avatar #80 to #52 - augustusxxiv (12/03/2012) [-]
Pissed, they made it into another zombie movie where they run. It could have been like a fictional documentary where the author goes around interviewing people, and then it could go showing their stories and what they went through, with lots of narrative cut-scenes.
User avatar #55 to #52 - danielph (12/03/2012) [-]
They should have kept to the book's style of telling the story through multiple perspectives too. If it was accurate to the book they would have an awesome movie that really stands out from every other zombie film.
#53 to #52 - therobsorensen (12/03/2012) [-]
Never read the book, but from what I hear it is completely unrelated to the book except for the name.

As far as movies go, I think it looks awful. The way the zombies congregate and move in mass looks so bad.
User avatar #57 to #53 - danielph (12/03/2012) [-]
he books are awesome, the movie looks like it will suck, it has nothing to do with the book.

I think it's pretty accurate.
A single zombie in TWD is a complete idiot.
It's the swarm-intelligence that makes 'em dangerous... (especially since it's a swarm/herd)
User avatar #197 to #35 - jellytamer ONLINE (12/03/2012) [-]
i would definitely say they are smarter than that. I mean think of howmany times someone hides and the zombie thinks to look around and investigate. I would put them a bit above the line
