All the emphasis on the parkour system just seemed so pointless. I never found myself having to do more then jumping over a railing. Also the guns just all felt the same: weak, high recoil, high spread, and ugly.

inb4 pointless complaining

to agree with you i forgot there even was a system besides going over a railing

Light body type. It's good if there's a hallway full of people or if you're trying to look badass.

It seemed like such a cool looking game with an interesting story but what did we end up with? An exact clone of Quake wars enemy territory, Both games had terrible AI and the lag was out of control for every server.

i think i would have had more fun struggling trying to beat vampire rain.
User avatar #174 to #130 - hideyowives (11/15/2012) [-]
well vampire rain is fun to beat if you invite a few friends over cause then you can all die repeatadly and rage together....brink was just not fun in any way not even in the way vampire rain is

Every time I played it, I found myself at the end saying "I do not know why the **** I would support these guys. I don't even know what their names are, or which side I'm even on anymore."
User avatar #142 to #141 - lametitan (11/15/2012) [-]
I always felt the game was one sided depending on the mission played

It took me forever to free the hostage on the first level...cause by the time you reached the ramps to head upstairs it would have nothing but turrets in every angle just waiting for you

You needed a medic didn't you?

Well **** that, medics were just there to shoot guns.

Me and one of my friends renamed all of our Non-Steam games in our steam library to brink-related names.

This one's my favorite.

My local game stop employee would not let me leave the store with that game. So I got Prototype instead.

But the game was a major disappointment.

I was so excited for some hardcore-parkour shooter combat....

I think, if they made the maps as wide open as they were in the trailer, it would have been a hundred times better. Not that I didn't play the **** out of it for like 3 weeks.
Just going "this is so dumb" at the end of every game.
#227 to #113 - anon (11/15/2012) [-]
also if they had made the classes unique, given you a decent amount of health, fixed the re-spawn system, made a single player campaign, used real parkour elements, not made you wait until a ridiculously high level to shoot while bleeding out, not made every objective " do nothing while your friends play," and optimized the game so it didn't take thirty seconds to load textures every time you turned.

I was exited for it, bought it and convinced my friend to get it so we could play together. we played for a while, realized it was **** , felt super bad for talking him into it.

tl;dr: Brink had more than one problem.

User avatar #86 to #76 - foelkera (11/15/2012) [-]
It was just bethesdas ****** attempt at a better TF2 clone but for consoles. You can pick up a new copy for like 5 bucks now because it sucks so much.
#87 to #86 - ragged (11/15/2012) [-]
Why? Because it had a class-system?

User avatar #88 to #87 - foelkera (11/15/2012) [-]
Class based, mainly multiplayer, cartoon styled. That's a TF2 ripoff if I ever saw one.
User avatar #95 to #88 - aussiepridevil (11/15/2012) [-]
it has more tactical feel to it, better graphics and there's a bunch of parkour gimmics involved, full customization for most things, as well as it had 3 body types and 4 (4? i cant remember how many) classes, now it wasn't a good game by any stretch it had a lot of issues, but calling it a clone of tf2, a cartoony FPS with 7 classes and purchasable hats and pre-made weapons and items, with no gimmicks at all, also the game modes were different.

look the list of differences goes on, honestly did you even ******* play brink before calling it a clone?
User avatar #96 to #95 - foelkera (11/15/2012) [-]
Yeah, bought it when it first came out. Had to sell Red Dead Redemption and Mirror's Edge to get that ****** piece of garbage.
User avatar #120 to #96 - sagedivinity (11/15/2012) [-]
HOLY CRAP! I sold the same two games.
User avatar #97 to #96 - aussiepridevil (11/15/2012) [-]
well then how could you honestly call brink a tf2 clone, or did you just play brink for 10 minutes before calling its **** .
#90 to #88 - ragged (11/15/2012) [-]
Battlefield Heroes has a class system with a cartoon style, but that doesn't make it a TF2 clone. Gotham City Impostors looks cartoonish and focuses on being comedic, so does that make it a TF2 rip-off?

I don't know about Brink or Battlefield Heroes, but Gotham City Imposters was definitely a TF2 clone...

Love the QI gif btw.
#94 to #93 - ragged (11/15/2012) [-]
Gotham City Impostors lacks a class system. Pretty much the base of TF2.
User avatar #100 to #94 - traelos (11/15/2012) [-]
GCI has an RPG system, it may not be a class system strictly speaking, but it's close enough, and has a similar feel.

Furthermore, I wouldn't call the base of TF2 the class system, it's more about the hyper arcade style gameplay and generally hat based reward system. The class thing is mostly just to keep the game balanced.
User avatar #85 to #76 - markthemarksman (11/15/2012) [-]
The game had a campaign and a multiplayer, usually this would be valid argument, but their exactly the same, the game is fun for about 20 minutes. (see "The Escapist: zero punctuation" for any game references you may inquire about.
