Wild animals varying in size from a few centimeters to the size of a blue whale, feral and many of them likely to be hostile to humans. Have abilities varying from breathing fire or high-powered water jets, shooting lethal jolts of electricity, mind warping and destruction, strength easily 100 times that of the strongest human, shooting beams of condensed sunlight, ice, mind waves, or just raw energy. Many are also capable of lethally poisoning you, stunning your body with paralytic toxins or electric shocks, freezing you in ice, putting you to sleep with mind control or spores/toxin...

Thank god the worst all this can do is make you faint, huh?
User avatar #64 to #39 - problematique (09/01/2012) [-]
every single thing you mentioned on your comment already kind of exists in nature, for example all those toxins that can lethally poison you exist in plants and well, you can always bump on an electric fence or something and get a lethal jolt of electricity aswell.

I guess, the problem with pokemon would be that all those dangers would be able to MOVE, but they do exist already anyway.
User avatar #67 to #64 - Tyranitar (09/01/2012) [-]
I know that most of these abilities exist in the real world, but Pokemon can use them just as a scorpion or bee would use their stinger. If you made one angry and it came after you, it would know how to use its abilities to stun, injure, or outright kill you.
User avatar #79 to #67 - problematique (09/01/2012) [-]
but why would you make anyone angry? afterall it's not like they would in inside of our cities. We have ferocious animals on our planet as it is, a polar bear can kill you in two seconds flat, but you won't find a polar bear exiting your building, so why should you find a tyranitar? I mean, even if these pokemon were to live on earth, since they'd want their peace they'd try to live in more isolated places than New York city or something. Think about it
User avatar #81 to #79 - Tyranitar (09/01/2012) [-]
Just like animals, Pokemon will live in many places. Some would prefer areas far from civilization, yes. But there are still some who would live near or with humans. Grimer and Koffing, both known for spreading poison and pollution, are known to live in cities and sewers. Electric pokemon would probably be attracted to power plants, which may cause issues if, say, a Zapdos decides to nest there and is too dangerous to try and remove.

And the one thing I feel would cause most Pokemon-related deaths is hunting. A lot of people will see value in hunting pokemon. For example, if a lion's pelt and a rhino's horn are worth so much money, how about an Arcanine pelt and a Rhydon horn? And some folks may see value in certain pokemon as food and choose to hunt for that reason. And if Pokemon are capable of having attacks and growing stronger like in the franchise, even the smallest of them could potentially cripple a grown man.

So it would mostly be the humans fault that these things happen, just as it usually is with real-world animals. There are also legendaries, pokemon with human-like or greater intelligence, and Pokemon being utilized by terrorists and criminals that could be considered.

Pokemon battling would be illegal anyways. The whole show basically revolves around cock fighting and if pokemon were real you know PETA would never allow pokemon battles.
User avatar #86 to #52 - wiljones (09/01/2012) [-]
well sure they wouldent allow it but. but if pokemon were real we STILL wouldent give a **** what they think

I like to think of it as population control or collateral damage if a few huans get hurt in the process, besides pokemon are generally friendly towards humans and very easily tame-able as shown in every pokemon show, game, and most of the manga.
User avatar #44 to #41 - Tyranitar (09/01/2012) [-]
The larger ones are the problems, really. Even with their abilities, smaller Pokemon (say, below human size) would probably be somewhat docile unless provoked. But I imagine the larger ones, Charizard, Gyrados, Tyranitar, etc. would be predators, and would be very hostile. And with their abilities, it would be difficult to defend yourself against one without military-grade weapons. Plus there are the Psychic, Ghost, and Dark types, who would have very little to no trouble harming or killing even armed humans.
User avatar #53 to #44 - supername (09/01/2012) [-]
Charizard is only 5ft 7inches at its highest, Tyranitar 6ft 7inches and Gyarados at 21ft 4inches. While I agree that their abilities could be very problematic if enraged, however I'm sure as humans we can build destructive weapons to combat them in particuar a pokeball would be fine against a raging Gyarados. But yes their would be a few casualties.

I know people are going to get annoyed by me saying this but pokemon would be a huge problem and probably become labeled as pests in a couple of days. There I said it. I'm just being realistic.

I thought they would be treated like normal animals. ****** ones will be forgotten while the useful ones will grow in population. and Biology class will be interesting
User avatar #33 to #32 - durden (09/01/2012) [-]
Think of this, Pokemon... with rabies. We would be ****** . That's one reason I wouldn't want this to happen. They wouldn't just be in one country there'd be different species in different countries so say some mix with foxes and raccoons in northern america and start contracting rabies.
#36 to #33 - urapooper (09/01/2012) [-]
it depends if they are saying pokemons just came out of nowhere or pokemons existed from the start of time .If you think that we had pokemons from the start they would be treated like normal animals but you know with extra precaution. Pokemon with rabies is dangerous
User avatar #155 to #36 - whamarian (09/01/2012) [-]
Pokemon with rabies is PokeRus. The only disease that they can get is that. Also people seem to be forgetting that a lot of these pokemon just want to live in peace in their natural environment. A **** ton of Pikachu in one place will cause thunderstorms, so why not just catch them...
I'd be fine with Pokeballs and no pokemon...But Id rather have both.

And wouldn't pokemon have a natural instinct to become domesticated. As they all can.

Yeah This just made me realize a world full of pokemon would be hilariously chaotic. Could you imagine someone walking around with a Giratina or having a Wailord using surf in the middle of a desert. Yikes!
User avatar #188 to #155 - durden (09/01/2012) [-]
Come to think about it pokemon would actually suck in reality. Plus you can use them for evil really easily
User avatar #187 to #155 - durden (09/01/2012) [-]
Also, imagine this: Pokeballs wouldn't exist they're not natural. Say if god existed and he created pokemon we would have to figure out pokeballs for ourselves, no control over the pokemon once they get diseases from the real world not video game diseases actual ones, they'd go rabid and attack innocents and you have to attack them to get them trained or something along the lines of that. It would be awful. **** that I wouldn't want pokemon.
User avatar #189 to #187 - whamarian (09/02/2012) [-]
A thought occurred to me. What if Pokemon were built to function almost exactly the way they do in the games and anime? I mean from the Poke-Point of View, they are real and their world isn't strewn with chaos all the time. There must be some sort of functionality in them. Still though, the only way Pokemon could be real is if 1. We had been secretly developing the technology for years (to live with such creatures) and 2 they were immune to the problems that we are presenting and literally the worst the could do to something is make it faint...

Then we'd be in business...but that presents a new scale of issues

User avatar #37 to #36 - durden (09/01/2012) [-]
Yeah I get where your coming from now. I kind of took it as god creating them now. Still, pokemon would be a pest.

Humans didn't co-exist with dinosaurs.
User avatar #25 - commontroll (09/01/2012) [-]
Pokemon in real life would be terrifying, and humanity would never be able to get off the ground, because we'd be combating sea monsters that control tidal waves, reptiles that breath fire, dinosaurs that literally control the plants around us, ghosts, psychic animals, monsters that are half the size of a house that use their pure strength to crush you, friggin' Onix.

I'm glad he didn't make them. Plus, it's nice to just be able to imagine and create our own things.
#24 - ieatyououtaldaylon (09/01/2012) [-]

If he made pokemon real. We still don't have the technology capable of containing them in Pokeballs. So not we just ave angry superpowered animals that will pretty much bring the human race too it's knees. Plus organizations like PETA and all those dumbass Animal rights groups will make it impossible for us to make them fight.
