As a person from Belgium who's met quite a few people from a quite a few other countries, I can honestly say, I think most countries don't know **** about good beer.

Most American beers probably taste better with lemonade in them.
#257 to #249 - hxcwaywardson (08/24/2012) [-]
ah, belgium, my favorite country to drink from. i guess i'm lucky to have a bar near me that prides itself on serving beer from around the world (40 on tap, changing semi regularly, and 500 in bottles) and they have a "passport" that you can keep track of your progress. I've never repeated a beer and I'm almost done with belgium, it makes me a little sad
User avatar #308 to #257 - ewowo (08/24/2012) [-]
So what've you had?
#526 to #308 - hxcwaywardson (08/24/2012) [-]
archel blond
delerium tremens
delerium nocturnum
leffe
all of the lindemans lambics
lucifer
orval trappist ale
stella artois
hoegaarden
User avatar #534 to #526 - ewowo (08/24/2012) [-]
Don't you mean Achel?

Nice match up, if you can get your hands on these though:
Westmalle/Chimay/Westvleteren/Rochefort Trappists
Cuvee Des Trolls
L'Achouffe

All great Belgians too.

(I mostly drink Guiness though)
#535 to #534 - hxcwaywardson (08/24/2012) [-]
probably mean achel, the book just says archel. and I was going to try chimay, but they were out of chimay glasses when i got there (they sometimes give away promotional glasses when they get a new keg or cask) and it made me too sad to order one.
User avatar #547 to #535 - ewowo (08/24/2012) [-]
You should try visiting one of the trappist abbeys here some time :p. They're like ultimate destinations for beer lovers.
#764 to #547 - hxcwaywardson (08/24/2012) [-]
If I could afford it I would, but getting the funding for that is just out of my reach currently

Know the feel bro.
User avatar #252 to #249 - ewowo (08/24/2012) [-]
Now if you've got a good pint, you might wanna try adding coke.

This makes what we in Belgium call 'mazout', which is a dialect word for Diesel.
User avatar #304 to #252 - sherlockbatman (08/24/2012) [-]
I don't know about that.
I usually drink to relax
I thinking mixing in coke would kinda defeat the purpose
plus, coke is expensive
User avatar #307 to #304 - ewowo (08/24/2012) [-]
cola, dude.

I'm intrigued. Is it better with a lighter beer or darker?
User avatar #265 to #259 - ewowo (08/24/2012) [-]
Lighter.

Just a pilsener, if you know what that means... I've found that most people don't actually distinguish between those types of beer.
#269 to #265 - anon (08/24/2012) [-]
Thanks I shall give it a try :)

So what do you drink there?
User avatar #256 to #254 - xkronusx (08/24/2012) [-]
anything and everything, witchcraft, budweiser, molson canadian depends on who buys, whos party or what pub you go to.
User avatar #266 to #256 - ewowo (08/24/2012) [-]
Do you import Heineken?
User avatar #267 to #266 - xkronusx (08/24/2012) [-]
yeah we have heineken here, i've personally had a mini keg of it
User avatar #268 to #267 - ewowo (08/24/2012) [-]
You see I have a rule, that any country what needs to import heineken doesn't know what good beer is :p. Have you ever even had a trappist beer?
User avatar #390 to #268 - xkronusx (08/24/2012) [-]
nope
#242 to #233 - hxcwaywardson (08/24/2012) [-]
they make quite a few lemon based beers, and of the ones i've tried, they're really good. just don't expect anything spectacular out of mixing lemonade with crappy beer, but it makes it okay
User avatar #245 to #242 - xkronusx (08/24/2012) [-]
i've had a lemon beer before, like the premixed in the bottle kind. it might be because of how little lemon flavor there was but it just tasted watered down and gross.
#248 to #245 - hxcwaywardson (08/24/2012) [-]
I'm a big fan of citrus so I'm probably biased. I'm waiting for my lemon wheat ale to finish bottle conditioning in a week, I hope it turns out like last year's batch. It blew the store bought stuff out of the water
User avatar #255 to #248 - xkronusx (08/24/2012) [-]
nothing beats home made thats for sure, i love mixes of flavors if they have the right amount, kinda like that alien brain hemorrhage you see on here every once in a while.

just the right mix can be the ftw

It's honestly very good. My mother-in-law does it, but with sausage. You don't know it's grape jelly. It just adds a tangy flavor to it. I never knew until about the fifth time ever eating it.
