You're an idiot. He was holding the pin (grenade attached) above the toilet to show everyone what he was thinking about doing.

**** . I remember when I saw the post on here where all he did was talk about the grenade, and now I've seen the one where he died (pictured above). It's weird in the sense that it was a long time ago and I thought that maybe he'd survived it. It's pretty sad seeing something like this when all along you would've expected it to be a (for lack of a better word, blank) grenade, but all along, the boy was dead. Sorry for taking up comment space, I just wanted to publicly express my honest emotion in hopes that some of you feel what I feel. That is all.

That's what I thought at first too, then I translated it further and figured out he died..
#59 to #56 - Rascal (08/21/2012) [-]
the first word says he died. how far did you have to translate?
User avatar #60 to #59 - MrSmurf (08/21/2012) [-]
At first glance, I recognized grenade and bathroom. Then I translated died. I thought that was obvious when I said. "That's what I thought at first too,..." I guess I had to be more specific for idiots like you. I apologize.
#61 to #60 - Rascal (08/21/2012) [-]

Dead child put a grenade in the bathroom of his house.
Oscar Lopez Ortega, 17 years old, died from an explosion in the interior of his house. the police said it happened at 8:45 PM yesterday night blah blah blah
pretty much the summary. not exact

sorry estallar is "to burst/to explode" so the title is something like "Young person dies from grenade explosion in the bathroom of his house" That's closer to the exact translation

So a small bomb couldn't explode what would most likely be a plaster wall?

#41 to #40 - Rascal (08/21/2012) [-]
it wouldnt blow up the plaster wall either. It's most likely a Fragmentation grenade which doesn't have much of a concussive blast. the way how the walls are blown apart could not have been from just the grenade.

If it was in the bathroom and he kept his cleaning supplies there, there could have been a secondary explosion depending on the contents of the cleaner, but I doubt that.

A small bomb could and most likely will destroy a plaster wall, but a grenade wouldn't.
P.S. i hate CoD

User avatar #43 to #42 - adunsaveme (08/21/2012) [-]
I suppose, I'm not entirely sure how powerful grenades are but it would seem strong enough to blow up a wall. Maybe it blew up a gas heater or something, I dunno.
I'll just go back to my hole.

They only have around a 80% kill radius for about 5 feet.

Anyway, have a good night/day, and continue enjoying your time on FJ.
User avatar #72 to #44 - fuelnfire (08/21/2012) [-]
Army fag here. Grenades in enclosed spaces do massive damage. This looks kinda fishy and perhaps fake, but most grenades, or this older MK2 I believe could have taken down a thin wall like that easily. A crowbar could have been thrown through the wall if need be, pressure build up from a grenade indoors would have tooken out any structural weak points. Concrete, or anything mildly reinforced, can take modern fragmentation grenades though, you are right. Oh, and a modern US and Canadian issued (I'm Canadian) M67 has a kill radius of 5 meters. 15 Feet. Injury up to 15 meters, although fragment range is inconsistent. TL;DR It's feasible.
#58 to #44 - snuskungen (08/21/2012) [-]
Yes 80% in open territory, you forget that in a smaller bathroom the pressure build-up would be intense, thereby killing the kid inside and releasing the extra pressure through the softer parts of the walls, plaster.

an open explosion is not impressive, look at gunpowder explosions. however, put even that in a confined hardened container and the result is a lot more awesome.
#55 to #44 - Rascal (08/21/2012) [-]
That is a MK 2 Hand Grenade, in great condition I might add, which makes me suspicious that it might be a replica and not a live one as claimed in the content.

The effective blast radius of a real MK 2 is approximately 10 meters (30-33 feet, roughly), and an immediate kill radius of 5 meters (Whether from peppering from shrapnel, the concussive force of the explosive inside going off, or both).

The chances, in my educated opinion, of one of these things being capable of taking out a cheap wall are pretty good, especially since it was inside an enclosed area (Assuming the door to the bathroom was closed if/when the grenade went off). However, since energy takes the path of least resistance, common sense dictates that cheap wall = cheaper door, then it's entirely possible that the wall was heavily damaged but remained intact and that the door would have been what went missing.

It depends completely on the arrangement of ALL the objects inside the room (Including people) and walls, as to which event is genuinely more likely (As all objects present would effect the blast in dramatically different ways). We'll never know for sure if the post itself is real or fake, but the science remains the same.

So yes, it's possible that a MK2 can take out an interior/cheap wall like that, but the condition the grenade appears to be in in the photo leads me to believe this instance is fake.
