Arthritis is the inflammation of the joints - cold water would make blood vessels retract inside the dogs body, dropping blood pressure - so the dog would be ******. If you believe that, your having feels for a man who basically is doing a DIY euthanisation of his pet.

OP made a mistake, the actual story said the water was warm enough

Bollocks. Arthritis is a disease of the joints, not the "circulatory vessels". And cold water makes arthritic joints hurt more, not less

the dog would be much more comfortable in a huge lake as opposed to a tiny bathtub. I take my dogs down to lake Michigan all the time and they love it more than anything, but they absolutely hate getting baths.
