Let me just tell you that, as a middle-class person, I graduated college in 2006, have a good paying career, good benefits and I live comfortably, but for making what I make, I don't live as well as I should. If Obama is left in office, I will be more screwed in the next 4 years. The only chance I have for getting less screwed is by having someone else in office. If you plan on being a complete bum living off the government and expecting handouts, then you should vote for Obama because that is exactly what he has been doing. If you are a student who is expecting to go to (or graduate from) college, remember that our current president is in favor of the Dream Act, which lets illegals claim citizenship in the US. If you can't get help with loans, scholarships and grants now, just think of what it will be like in a year or two when you are competing with a fresh new batch of high schoolers. And if you are a working person who claims company health care, your company will either drop your insurance for the same insurance illegals and poor people will receive OR you will be paying more for the same insurance if the health care plan goes into effect. I will contest that Mitt Romney has had some bad fortune in his life, but he has a hell of a lot more experience than our current Commander in Chief and is not afraid to show his birth certificate. Obama is the biggest troll in America's history, he claimed residency to Indonesia to go to school and never re-claimed residency in the US, making him a non-US Citizen. Again, if you value your education, your middle-class status and your freedom, vote out Obama.
...
INB4 Red Thumbs for my opinion.

Why do you people keep calling Obama "the worst president ever!" "the one who caused america to be the way it is", that's honestly the least educated opinion I have ever heard.
These problems have their roots ranging all the way back from Carter and Reagan for christ sakes.
And the "ABO" mentality is so horribly flawed, it's like you're implying every other president will somehow be better than Obama.
Romney isn't an honest businessman, he's outsourced jobs to other countries (yeah, not someone a working man should want in the big seat), he's refused to give tax returns, and he's even said outright that he doesn't even manage his own money.

Drop the goddamn ABO mentality and actually SEE who you're voting for. Politics shouldn't be a game of voting parties for parties, or just what the hype is, it's about actually looking at the statistics and seeing who's fumbing the ball the most and who's not sticking their neck out enough.
User avatar #523 to #465 - Cainamogel (08/13/2012) [-]
I did not claim that Obama was the worst president ever, I am merely stating the facts. And you are completely correct, for all I know, Romney could suck even more, but I don't see how it could get worse. Again, I am a working middle-class American and I have already been hit by the slew of potentials if Obama gets re-elected and I will tell you what, it is not pretty.
...
Akkere, you are 19 (at least that is what you claim on your profile). If that is truly your age, I doubt that you see the things that go on that will effect you. When I was 19, I would've probably thought the same thing, that everyone needs health care, that illegals should be given amnesty, that our president should be doing something about outsourcing. But although the "idea" is good, in reality, it is quite difficult. Ever go shopping at Wal-Mart? I'm sure you have. How about Target? Banana-Republic? Unless you want to spend over 100$ for a T-Shirt, it is going to be made in a different country. And that is totally the fault of the American people dating back decades ago, when someone got it in their head that they could sell more if they were cheaper. The first person who outsourced jobs is the person we should be angry at. But I am telling you a FACT - I will be paying more in 2014 for my EXACT SAME HEALTH CARE. Is that fair for me? I already pay almost 1/5 of my paycheck for taxes and now they want more? What is motivation for me even having a good job if someone else can do nothing and get free health care, free schooling, etc?
...
I have a VERY different view of life and politics now and I am 100% positive that 10 years from now, you will too.

Hold the phone with those implications, Ted. I swear to god you people and your implications, is it so hard to ask simple questions?
No, I don't think Illegals should be given any form of aid or allowance to stay one more day in this country. When people immigrate to a nation, they should bring the best of their culture along with them and present a great impression. These people aren't doing that, they're bringing in gangs, turning areas into slums, and overall becoming a counter-productive quality. This is the reason why it's such a brutal process to immigrate here, and why we have a quota.
Outsourcing is something that is done with more advantages than it should have. Instead of having the proper taxations implemented, which would otherwise really turn corporate heads towards adding more jobs, it's done much more freely and needs to have more restrictions than it should have.
Yes, health care is a viable need for everyone when it is done correctly. Obamacare wasn't done as properly as it should have been, and that was to give leg to the pharmaceutical corporations.

My view of politics is independent as far as I'm concern. I don't support Obama, but I definitely won't even turn my head to Romney's direction. He's completely incompetent, it's impossible not to foresee that he's going to be an embarrassment to this country.
User avatar #542 to #538 - Cainamogel (08/13/2012) [-]
I am going on Obama's 2008 campaign slogan - hope. I hope that Romney does a better job because it is going to keep getting worse for me, personally, if Obama gets re-elected. Is that a shitty answer to who I will vote for? Fuck yes it is! It should not be the slightly-worse candidate, it should be a fight between the best candidate and the even BETTER candidate. I would honestly vote for Ron Paul if I thought he could win, at this point.
...
As for outsourcing, if you don't have a product to outsource, then you have nothing. At least with the ability to outsource, you can create jobs for office personnel, which, in turn, gets put back into the economy of America. I would love nothing more than all of the outsourced jobs to come back to America, but unless it happens all at once with every retailer, producer and manufacturer, that is not going to happen.
User avatar #552 to #542 - akkere ONLINE (08/13/2012) [-]
Hope only works when you have something that gives you a reason to believe in it.
Romney has no such thing.
I personally would've voted for John McCain at the time because he had built a platform that seemed ideal before the campaign. And then the campaign happened, and he started doing all of this stupid stuff, Palin being the cherry on the ice cream.
The hype for Obama in 2008 was unprecedented, but so is the hype against him now.
It's not a matter of slightly-worse; Romney is undeniably incompetent, and the conservatives refuse to see it that way because they're deadset on an "Anything-but-x" policy, and that's the most counter-productive, uneducated thing I've ever heard of.

This election is completely screwed as far as I'm concern.

I wished I could argue your point, but I really can't.

he's not afraid to show us his birth certificate, but he is afraid to show us his tax returns.
User avatar #530 to #441 - Cainamogel (08/13/2012) [-]
There is no way I can argue with that one and I do not attempt even to compare the two. The absence of one means that the person is not a valid potential for US President, while the absence of the other means that the person (more than likely) owes a lot of money to the government. Romney could pay all his taxes and be caught up, but you cannot make a birth certificate appear out of thin air that acknowledges your citizenship in America. And I did not say that Obama was not born in Hawaii, I will believe that one. But once you claim citizenship in a country, like Indonesia, you have to denounce the citizenship of the country you are currently a part of. Then, upon re-entering that country, you would have to denounce your former citizenship, which is the clear step that is being overlooked.
#558 to #530 - zombieplayground (08/13/2012) [-]
why on earth would it be overlooked? Why in the hell would the republican party just let that one fly? They take every single shot they can at the president but for some reason they're looking over the thing that would get him thrown out of the oval office and get him arrested?
#568 to #558 - Cainamogel (08/13/2012) [-]
It seems pretty easy to figure out, but I agree, why hasn't it been investigated more in depth? I honestly don't know, but the timeline does not match the story. He has to be a citizen of Indonesia to go to their school so all he has to "show" is where he re-instated his citizenship in America.

Don't hold the highest opinions of many republican views but thumbing people down because they are Republican makes us look like r/politics.
