it's not like I didn't substantiate my negativity... oh ya, and that nuke at the end... where was the shockwave? It was just a pretty little cloud in the distance... now that jet can fly fast... but fast enough to get the blast to happen so far away there is absolutely nothing felt in Gotham?

I don't know, we seem to have very different opinions. I liked this movie just as much as the previous two. They shouldn't be compared, though. Batman Begins, the Dark Knight and Rises are three completely different movies. Begins was a real superhero movie, the Dark Knight was more of a tragic action movie (Harvey Dent's fall at the hands of the Joker as the most important part) and Rises was, in every way possible, a war movie about one man facing his destiny.

Completely different kinds of movies, in my opinion. I don't like to compare them.
User avatar #78 to #77 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/28/2012) [-]
listen. It's not the worst thing in the world it's just... the plot didn't resonate. It felt like they were trying to do too much at once and fell flat...

Also there were a couple nasty plot holes...
#99 to #78 - anon (07/28/2012) [-]
What were some of these plotholes of which you speak?
User avatar #107 to #99 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/28/2012) [-]
How did "Robin" find the bat cave

How did the bat copter/jet thing magically appear at the prison for the batman to use

How did bruce manage to fix the auto-pilot without Fox knowing

How did bruce manage to get the clean slate before knowing that catwoman needed it

How did the batman know exactly where to park the bat copter/jet thing during that first police chase to have a getaway back when it had no autopilot...

How the hell did the batman get his spine fixed with a freaking looped rope?!

There were a lot :I
#149 to #107 - monsterme (07/28/2012) [-]
Wow, seriously? You're the kind of person people want to beat up because they ruin everything. Prima donna.
User avatar #153 to #149 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/28/2012) [-]
Whine some more, I was asked what was a plot hole so I explained.

btw since I doubt you were calling me the lead female singer in an opera, a prima donna is "A very temperamental person with an inflated view of their own talent or importance."

I never claimed to be great or important, just that in my opinion this movie was a disappointment for reasons X Y Z...
#160 to #153 - monsterme (07/28/2012) [-]
But your reason are dumb. For example, who cares if batman knew where to park his flying thing. Or, who cares if it never showed how he fixed auto pilot. Or even how he got his spine fixed with the rope. I don't see how that took anything out of the movie.
User avatar #162 to #160 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/28/2012) [-]
Takes away from immersion. I like mysteries and stuff. It's fun to try to guess what will happen next... when they have these random plot-holes it messes with the game.

Like seriously, I spent all the time from him getting in the plane to learning about the auto-pilot magically being fixed wondering how the hell he could be alive... figures it was just some off screen action...
#171 to #162 - monsterme (07/28/2012) [-]
You like mysteries? Well then you should have liked that they didn't show everything. Can't be more mysterious than that. I don't think they should show everything. Makes the viewer infer what happened himself. Just like when you read a book.
User avatar #185 to #171 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/28/2012) [-]
A good riddle gives you enough information to solve it without being too obvious... this is like a riddle that intentionally leaves out information to make itself impossible

Like... A man is running down a hall with a letter in hand and the lights flicker. The man becomes depressed and leaves. Why did he become depressed?
User avatar #129 to #107 - demonicchimera (07/28/2012) [-]
Some answers/guesses:

Bruce left co-ordinates to the bat cave in Robin's bag.

Fox said that a great mind could fix it but he was to busy - he told Bruce to fix it but
never checked if he did.

The possesion of the clean slate might be because he Batman already planned to use it on himself.

The rope was just to hold him up and keep his back straight (through means of gravity) while his body healed itself - he was there for a long time and the guy had pushed his vertebrae back into place making it easier to heal.

For the rest of the questions: Movies need some convenient things or they won't work.
Another explanation - Movie Magic.
User avatar #133 to #129 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/28/2012) [-]
I also found it odd that they name the guy Robin just for him to become the next batman...
User avatar #140 to #133 - demonicchimera (07/28/2012) [-]
But everyone hates Robin and (in the run up to the film) people were saying how it would ruin the film if Robin was introduced; so instead they introduced Robin, not as a ****** second rate sidekick, but a policeman and the successor to Bruce Wayne as Batman, making Robin seem actually kind of awesome.
User avatar #145 to #140 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/28/2012) [-]
but he coulda just been a successor without having to be named Robin xD
User avatar #147 to #145 - demonicchimera (07/28/2012) [-]
Good point. Maybe they named him Robin to try to reduce how much he is hated.
User avatar #148 to #147 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/28/2012) [-]
maybe... maybe... Barbara better be introduced eventually... When they said that Gordon's family left him I was slightly peeved o.o

I regret to inform you that you wish will not come to pass as The Dark Knight Rises is meant to be the last of the Batman films by Christopher Nolan and the rest of the cast and crew.

whaaaaaaaaat?! ....damn....
User avatar #114 to #107 - brainydud (07/28/2012) [-]
Just what I have to say on some. I may be wrong.
Wasn't Robin given coordinates found in the bag the woman gave him.
Wasn't the clean slate the device Bane tried to use on the stock market and Batman took it.
Maybe Batman led them there so he could escape? He probably knew that sooner or later they would surround him so he ran to there.
I think the rope was to lift his back up but I don't understand how that fixed his spine.
User avatar #118 to #114 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/28/2012) [-]
Wait... who gave him the co-ordinates? That scene was one of the more confusing ones, missed a bunch of lines... I thought it was just for getting the "Robin" gag out there...

No it was what that stereotypical evil businessman claimed to have in order to get the employment of catwoman that Bruce managed to acquire before any of the events of the story even happened...

I'm pretty sure he was focused on chasing Bane's guys... just seemed odd that they headed right to where he needed to go...

Yup... it was one strange thing... I believe in the comics that spine crushing kick is what put him in a wheelchair for life...
User avatar #136 to #118 - brainydud (07/28/2012) [-]
I don't know. For all we know Alfred did it in memory of Batman or maybe Bruce was prepared for this? I really have no idea.
And thanks for the clearing of the other events.
Batman chased Bane's guys but once he got the device he took off for the Bat probably. He knew he needed to escape so he went to his get away vehicle.
#96 to #78 - greasychesticles (07/28/2012) [-]
Really? I thought the movie was great. Usually superhero villains are pathetic and funny, but Nolan managed to make every villain a truly frightening character. The only things I didn't like from the movie were Bane's death and the numerous plot holes.

User avatar #100 to #96 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/28/2012) [-]
I hated Alfred's voice, I've always hated it but you know, recurrent...
The fact that "Robin" found the bat cave through magic intuition and I guess becomes the bat man which confuses me because why bother calling him robin just to make him the next batman?
I felt like the relationship between Bruce and Talia was really underdeveloped... they met like 3 times, once to introduce her, once to **** , and once to activate the reactor... seriously?
I hated Bane's voice, it sounded comical, not threatening in the slightest... You couldn't turn down the vader voice box by two octaves and sound a little sinister?

I could go on but those were some of the biggies...
User avatar #126 to #100 - coolalliki (07/28/2012) [-]
Alfred is British. This isn't something you should hate on. Robin finding the batcave was explained, you just didn't pay attention. Bane's voice was okay, IMO.

Still, these aren't things that make the movie worse.
User avatar #132 to #126 - Sethorein ONLINE (07/28/2012) [-]
There are many different types of British accents. The one used by Alfred was one unique to this actor and I didn't think that it portrayed Alfred's character well at all...

No, I did pay attention, it's just a lot of times lines were garbled in the movie... I swear that scene where "Robin" picks up that random dufflebag... didn't understand what the hell was happening there

That's just like your opinion man.

I listed several plotholes elsewhere...

Yup. The death was ******* ****** , other than that the movie was ********************

User avatar #46 to #22 - Awesomecarrot (07/28/2012) [-]
Definetely. Bane was such an initimidating and generally
awesome character who beat Batman easily, and then
for some reason he was able to be beaten up. There needed
to be a much more dramatic death for him than being shot
like he was.
User avatar #48 to #46 - coolalliki (07/28/2012) [-]
Indeed. In the Knightfall storyline in the comics the reason Bane can defeat Batman so easily is because Batman is exhausted from weeks of work. In the movie, there is no reason for Batman being crushed by Bane first and easily defeating him a few months later.
User avatar #50 to #48 - Awesomecarrot (07/28/2012) [-]
I've not read the comics so I didn't have any high expectations
for Bane's character in the first place, but it was bad enough
for me, so I do feel sorry for people like you who were let down.
Anyway besides the anticlimaticism (is that a word?) of the movie
near the end, it was definetely worth watching.
User avatar #55 to #50 - coolalliki (07/28/2012) [-]
Yes, I agree. While Talia's and Bane's deaths were pretty stupid, I did find myself thinking "Oh God, yes... YES!" at a lot of points in the movie (Scarecrow's cameo, Catwoman and Batman fighting together, Robin (this was ******* awesome), Bane breaking Batman's back, Alfred seeing Bruce at the end, Bane's army and the police clashing in the streets, Batman being chassd by hundreds of police cars, etc...)
User avatar #115 to #55 - Awesomecarrot (07/28/2012) [-]
Yeah, the ending was definetely a good one
User avatar #43 to #22 - puppybiscuit (07/28/2012) [-]
Honetsly the only thing i did not like was that Bane
sounded like an evil version of Sean Connery.
User avatar #84 to #43 - spearpwi (07/28/2012) [-]
Sean Connery is Scottish. He has a Scottish accent. He sounds nothing like Tom Hardy even with the freaky mask thing on.
User avatar #91 to #84 - puppybiscuit (07/28/2012) [-]
That was not just Tom Hardy's voice. Nolan had to rerecord and heavily
process huge sections of Banes speech because in the first test version
of the film it was unintelligible. What they wound up with sounds like
Evil Sean Connery IMHO.
User avatar #27 to #22 - foop (07/28/2012) [-]
no i thought it was realistic and humorous. batman had already defeated bane 10 minutes prior, and bane was only saved by talia's intervention.
User avatar #30 to #27 - coolalliki (07/28/2012) [-]
Realistic? Yes. But it was the last we saw of him, couldn't they at least give hima last kick against his head? Or have Batman say: "Now you have my permission to die." Hell, they didn't check he was really dead/out of the game.
User avatar #38 to #30 - foop (07/28/2012) [-]
well he did say now you have my permission to die earlier, plus that gun could blow up cars and it shot bane at pointblank, theres no way he didn't die
User avatar #44 to #38 - coolalliki (07/28/2012) [-]
Yes, but still, I think a few seconds showing him dying wouldn't have hurt.

Just my opinion, though. I understand why you think different.
User avatar #51 to #44 - foop (07/28/2012) [-]
naw i see what you mean, hey did kinda make him irrelevant with the talia part. Maybe if he was incinerated instead of flying offscreen there would have been more closure
User avatar #24 to #22 - russiankadenskii (07/28/2012) [-]
yes very anticlimactic. Bane was the ******* man.

**** talia
User avatar #26 to #24 - coolalliki (07/28/2012) [-]
Talia was a great character in the comics, better than Catwoman, IMO. But anyone who has ever read a Batman comic could see her reveal coming from a mile away.

Also? Who else whispered " **** yeah..." to themselves when they saw Scarecrow? I was so goddamn happy when I saw Cillian Murphy sitting in that courtroom.
User avatar #25 to #24 - holycrapimacupcake (07/28/2012) [-]
Talia? Last I checked Catwoman was named Selina Kyle.
