I hope someone is keeping a count of how many references to various shit the Flash has per episode.

The things I can remember:

"A man of steel. Huh."
"Some would say Ronnie and I were like fire and ice."

Though I know there's at least ten references per episode.

Finished first season of the americans. Still think it's good. I like cold war era history in general so I guess I'm biased. The whole spy stuff I have always hated, which this show sort of centers around, but they do it in a unique way that I can actually enjoy it. It has a lil bit of everything. Would recommend.

I haven't seen it, but maybe you can watch cloverfield? It's rated 7.1 on imdb. I know theres a Giant monster. It's filmed from the perspective of a handycam. Maybe that makes the monster look even bigger?
User avatar #27306 to #27291 - naitsabesh ONLINE (01/20/2015) [-]
Thank you so much man. I watched the movie yesterday and it was amazing. it had that sorta horror feel, almost like the aliens movie. you'd see glimpses of the monsters but nothing concrete until the end but it had enough to keep you interested. it was one of the better giant monster movies.
Since you said you haven't seen it i'd reccomend you to do so.

I really wish they'd make a Cloverfield 2 or just plain sequel. Fantastic movie. I wouldn't mind though if they dropped the shaky cam concept.
User avatar #27307 to #27303 - naitsabesh ONLINE (01/20/2015) [-]
I agree. I was really scared the shaky cam thing would ruin it but somehow it didn't, kinda added to the feel of being there.

I'd like to see a sequel where it's about the army trying to defeat the monster, using the tape for the first to help them along. And have it be just a battle between the monster and the army or something like that. without the amateur cam thing then ofc.
User avatar #27308 to #27307 - eight (01/20/2015) [-]
I saw it in theaters. My blood was pumping, those sound effects, the first person perspective, it was great.

I'll never forgot the intensity of that scene when they come out of the subway and into the street, then suddenly a tank fires its weapon and then soldiers open fire and you see a hail of bullets with all the characters panicking and ducking, not to mention the giant monster almost hovering over them.

That scene blew me away. Felt like I was there.
User avatar #27309 to #27308 - naitsabesh ONLINE (01/20/2015) [-]
I know man. I saw it with my 7.1 headset in a dark room, not quite cinema but it did the trick.

Think my fav scene has to be when they realize that the bite is poisonous and you can see everybody panicking and one of the mcs spewing out blood. The fact that you don't know how she died makes it even better in my opinion.

You've got to watch True Detective. Simply incredible.
User avatar #27276 to #27275 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (01/19/2015) [-]
House of Cards is pretty good, but it's very dialogue driven. If you don't mind that, I'd say to at least give it a try. If you do mind that, I'd say to at least give a try anyway, but it's probably not your thing.

Black Mirror's been recommended to me. I have yet to watch it.

I'm behind on Fargo. Just watching too many shows, at the moment. It's very good, though.

Haven't seen American Horror Story, True Detective, or Game of Thrones. I want to watch True Detective and Game of Thrones, but haven't gotten to them yet. I hear they're very good. I know people that like AHS, and I know people that don't. I tried watching the first season when it premiered and couldn't get into it. I know each season is different, but none of them seem to catch my attention.

I'd recommend Luther and Twin Peaks. I'd also recommend Southcliffe, which is a four-part miniseries, but is still pretty good.
User avatar #27279 to #27276 - awesomerninjathing (01/19/2015) [-]
eh I can probably handle the dialogue in HoC, I'll at least try it out

I've heard about Luther and Twin Peaks actually but they weren't on my "must-watch" list. I know Twin Peaks is a classic. Never heard of Southcliffe.
User avatar #27280 to #27279 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (01/19/2015) [-]
Luther is pretty good, although it does have a few of the typical cop-show cliches every now and then. Yeah, I really like Twin Peaks. Southcliffe is about a news reporter who visits his hometown after a local guy goes on a killing spree throughout the town. It focuses on the news reporter's experience, mainly, with other characters mixed in, and what he sees after returning after however many years.
User avatar #27281 to #27280 - awesomerninjathing (01/19/2015) [-]
welp, guess I'm adding Twin Peaks to my watch list as well.

I know Luther is a BBC show and I've had a good experience with BBC shows in the past, except it was only one show and is one of the greatest I've ever watched.

Southcliffe sounds... eh. Doesn't really catch my eye honestly.

You should watch Peaky Blinders if you haven't already (it's the BBC show I was talking about). It's incredible. I've recommended it to 2 friends and they've loved it, I'm tryna get more people to watch. The finale of season 2 made me go "oooh fuck" so many times, pull my hair, basically a general feel of suspense. The only other episodes that have ever done that to me were the final 2 episodes of Breaking Bad. You might need subtitles if you can't understand heavy English accents from the 1920s, but it's worth it.

I'm going to bed but I'll reply tomorrow
User avatar #27284 to #27281 - godshandshake (01/19/2015) [-]
Luther is 10/10
User avatar #27289 to #27284 - awesomerninjathing (01/19/2015) [-]

User avatar #27282 to #27281 - thedudeistheman ONLINE (01/19/2015) [-]
You won't be missing the greatest thing to grace TV if you don't watch Southcliffe, but if you're looking for something to put on and you're not being too picky, Southcliffe is a good choice.

I've heard good things about Peaky Blinders, but with Netflix I'll only watch one show at a time (with the exception of series that are still airing on Netflix, like House of Cards). If I start more than one show, I feel like I'd favor one show over the other and forget about the other shows. It's the reason I only play one game at a time: I was never finishing any of the other ones I'd started. I mean, I don't do that with shows I watch on TV, but that's because with a weekly series, you're limited to one episode per week. On Netflix you can just watch as many episodes at a time as you want. I don't know if the logic makes sense, it's just what I do.

Good night, sleep tight.
User avatar #27286 to #27282 - awesomerninjathing (01/19/2015) [-]
Peaky is only 12 episodes so it's pretty easy to watch in a whole day or two
