I really hope Eichel will end up being almost as good, if not just as good, as McDavid. Then losing out on 1st pick again won't be so bad.
#46610 - hockeykicksass (5 hours ago) [-]
Seriously this is one of the last teams I wanted to get another fucking 1st overall pick I'm pissed

there are 3 20 minute sessions of time, called periods. if a game goes beyond these 3 periods, it goes to sudden death overtime (first team to score wins). if that doesn't solve anything in the regular season, the game goes to a shootout. in the playoffs (like right now), overtime becomes 20 minute periods that go on until someone scores.
a major rule is offsides. on the picture, there are 2 blue lines. say your Rangers and my Tampa Bay Lightning are playing. if one of the Lightning players is past the blue line, but the puck isn't, the Lightning player is offsides (UNLESS the Rangers player puts it back in their own zone).
icing is another major rule. if the puck crosses the 2 farthest red lines (the goal line) without being touched by the defending team, there's delayed icing. if the defending team gets past the circles with the dots (faceoff circles) first, icing is called. the attacking team who iced the puck has to keep the same players on the ice, and the faceoff (a center from each team try and win the puck for their own team) is down at the zone of the team who iced the puck.
after each period, teams switch zones. they'll be in the same zones for the 1st and 3rd periods.
you'd be way better off googling a list of all of the penalties, but basically, players can either get a 2-minute minor penalty (which means the team of the player who got the penalty is short a player for 2 minutes, causing a 5-on-4), a 5 minute major (same thing, but just for 5 minutes) and a 10 minute misconduct (either a player is in the penalty box for 10 minutes or they're ejected). if one player commits 2 penalties before getting called, a 4 minute double minor is called. if 2 players commit penalties in the same 2 minutes, a 5-on-3 power play happens. play continues until the team who's being called for a penalty touches the puck.

there's definitely a lot to learn. others who can help are hockeykicksass, MillionsKnives, PopcornViking (he's also a Rangers fan), plataeiou (the other Tampa Bay fan besides me), and quite a few others.

Would have been nice if your team did that last year when the top ranked player was a defenseman. You know, a position your team actually needs better players in.

Hawks definitely deserved to lose after that 6 men on the ice goal, but man did their defense just shut down at the end there. Going to be interesting what goalie they choose next game, though it'll probably still be Crawford.

Flames/Nucks was a pretty boring game til the last 2 minutes. I'd say the next game should be fun to watch, but it always seems like the game after a linebrawl is the most boring, as coaches preach discipline and whatnot.

Good series so far, excited for tomorrow.

Not really sports related but this is my only social board left and Bondofsnow I give you credit because of your status.

Celebrity Deathmatch is getting new episodes! Twitter already has a bunch of match ideas, so I ask you!

What matches do you wanna see when the show comes back to MTV2?

I personally wanna see 2 matches

Kanye West vs himself
and a triple threat match
Dick Ebersol vs Dick Clark vs Dick Cheney

Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Charlotte, North Carolina
Portland, Oregon

My four
New Orleans, LA
Louisville, KY (Home of the Louisville Slugger baseball bat company, they ALMOST got the Expos to move there)
Puerto Rico, home of Hiram Bithorn stadium
Buffalo, NY, their stadium is designed to be easily expanded to an outdoor MLB Stadium.
User avatar #46560 to #46559 - saltyfries (04/17/2015) [-]
Actually, replace New Orleans with Omaha, they already got TD Ameritrade Park.
User avatar #46554 to #46553 - bondofsnow (04/17/2015) [-]
My four for consideration:
Portland, Oregon
Las Vegas, Nevada
Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
User avatar #46555 to #46554 - panicchemical (04/17/2015) [-]
a MLB team in Dominican Republic, more likely a team would be put in Mexico City first
User avatar #46556 to #46555 - bondofsnow (04/17/2015) [-]
I was thinking of Mexico City too. A MLB team in Central America would be nice to see, no matter the city.
User avatar #46561 to #46556 - saltyfries (04/17/2015) [-]
god if Mexico City had an MLB team they could build a 60+ cap baseball park and get away with it, it would sell out every day...
User avatar #46557 to #46556 - panicchemical (04/17/2015) [-]
anything in Central America or south of Mexico City would be to far for me. heck mexico city a little far now
User avatar #46558 to #46557 - bondofsnow (04/17/2015) [-]
I like the idea of a Central American team because the MLB already has a significant amount of players from that area primarily Mexico and the DR

User avatar #46552 to #46550 - hockeykicksass (04/17/2015) [-]
Its the right move, nothing against Chief but there are gonna be a ton a high quality coaches available this offseason *cough* Babcock *cough*
User avatar #46567 to #46552 - BmanX (04/18/2015) [-]
Just gonna be a huge betting war between teams to get him to sign on.
User avatar #46571 to #46567 - hockeykicksass (04/18/2015) [-]
Flyers defiantly have plenty of money to throw around
User avatar #46573 to #46571 - BmanX (04/18/2015) [-]
So do the Leafs, Sabres and Wings.
User avatar #46574 to #46573 - hockeykicksass (04/18/2015) [-]
This is true, it's really comes down to what Babcock wants
User avatar #46575 to #46574 - BmanX (04/18/2015) [-]
I'm still not sure why he wouldn't just stay with the Wings. Seems like a pretty sweet gig to me
User avatar #46577 to #46575 - hockeykicksass (04/18/2015) [-]
Only reason I could think of is a new challenge if he goes to another team, he's already done everything you can do as a coach in Detroit so maybe try to do it somewhere else
User avatar #46578 to #46577 - BmanX (04/18/2015) [-]
Yeah, that's true. If I were him, Flyers and Sabres seem like the better bet. I really have no faith in the Leafs, no matter what changes they make.
User avatar #46579 to #46578 - hockeykicksass (04/18/2015) [-]
Flyers and Sabers can rebound next year if not the following year, the Maple Leafs are a cluster fuck only rivaled by the Oilers, only way they could lure him there is if they did some sort of coach/GM deal giving Babcock all the power
User avatar #46580 to #46579 - BmanX (04/18/2015) [-]
And they're really the only team that could do that kind of deal right now, so you never know
User avatar #46565 to #46552 - MillionsKnives (04/18/2015) [-]
All I can say is that if the Ducks fail this year, I really hope they get Babs back.
#46548 - saltyfries (04/17/2015) [-]
god I hope Roenicke gets fired soon, 2-7 to start the season, our pitching sucks, our hitting sucks, he can't manage the team for shit. I'm amazed we didn't fire him after that collapse last season, and at our rate, we're going to be horrid this season. I know it's early, but you couldn't ask for a worse start, and it's only going to get worse.

Best example of bad managing is Jimmy Nelson, had a hell of a game against the Pirates at home going 7 shutout innings, but he got pulled after that after only 88 pitches. Yet he leaves some guys in for 100 pitches and they get smacked around. This has been Brewers baseball since even the days of Ned Yost.

We're never going to go back to the world series.
