You know, humans a couple hundred years ago invented something called scissors.

They can also open difficult packaging.

The problem with the elevator one is that it doesn't work. At all. In 70% of elevators, the close door button is not hooked up to anything, and in the other ones, it doesn't do anything unless the open door button had previously been pressed.

The bowl doesn't amplify the sound - it just catches the sound waves and sends it in the (generally) same direction, making the sound louder. Amplification implies an active element in the construction (transistors/tubes/opamps that actually makes the signal stronger.)

Amplify: to increase the strength of a sound; make louder.

idk about the elevator one, but for the one with the wooden spoon to work, you'd need to use one that hasn't been varnished (im not sure if this is the rigth word for it)

the wooden spoons sold nowadays are usually varnished so that they don't absorb water (to be better in case you are steering soup for example), but the older ones used to be made out of rough wood, therefore absorbing water and keeping the water from over boiling

TL;DR: new wooden spoons won't work, old wooden spoons will

I tried the wooden spoon one, water boiled over all over the place.

Yeah, the one that made front page was posted in April, when I can tell you I wasn't with relative certainty, cause I had suffered a concussion fairly recently and was supposed to be staying away from computer screens.
