I might be the only one here that thinks this but,
I don't think this is a kids show anymore. The Last Airbender was, but Korra is not.
Aang was 12 years old (actually 112 but he lived for 12 years), Korra is 17 years old.
The first show first aired when I was 10 years old, Aang was relatively close to my age and he acted like I would. There were more silly things 10 year old me would enjoy such as Sokka's funny quirks and the cabbage guy in TLAB. In LOK there are teen romances and suicides and bending being taken away. It is a much darker show than before. I think that the Avatar series has grown up with us, much like how Harry Potter did. I am open to debate about this and I want to know what you guys think.

I find the Legend of Korra to be an insult to the original series, and actually one of the worst shows I've ever seen

Does anyone else think that the concept of blood bending is a little ..morbid for a kids show?
im 16 and even i get the oogies thinking about , especially when Noatok was blood bending those wolves..

I really hat that attitude to want to like and watch the series, because Aang left a good memory about it. But I am 19 now, studying, became more mature, live on my own..
There simply too many illogical moves the writers did, that it kills the mood in me, I'll throw out the scene when Tarlok captures Korra the first time, decides not to take her bending since there is no big audience to watch.
Then the 2nd time he has her with his blood bending and disables her in an empty hall... or Korra and all the other benders whining when they lose it, I mean what the hell, what do you think how the others who were born "pure" feel princess? The picture with that crazy looking girl saying "TELL ME I'M PRETTY" came in my mind.
Many many other things, but perhaps this could be used as an proof that this actually still is a kids show, as it doesn't satisfy the "seriousness" craved by adults. I like phantasies where everything fits, more or less.

I think I'll stop here with the end of first season, it just doesn't work for me any more.
User avatar #513 to #289 - akneegrow (06/25/2012) [-]
If you're talking about the scene when Amon captures Korra ( because Tarrlok can't take away bending) He doesn't take it away because there are too many benders on her side. There wouldn't be the revolution he wanted and all the benders would destroy the equalists. Not because he wanted a show.
Secondly, Asami wasn't born with bending but she makes the most of it. Think of it this way, if you lost your penis, would you cry about it? or would you say well I can't whine knowing there are women out there who are born with out penises. I think you would cry, because losing a special gift you were born with can't be fun. (authors note: special gift=bending, penis is an analogy).

One last thing, I can't fix all of your spelling mistakes, Mr. Mature 19 year old, but here's an easy way to remember how to spell Tarrlok.

Total
Asshole
Running
'Round
Legend
Of
Korra
User avatar #518 to #513 - bluedwarf (06/25/2012) [-]
touche, altough I wasn't really making it hard for you I must say. Yes that makes a lot more sense I was certain Amon mentioned something about audience, that's from which I started the premise that it was all about the show. My mistake
But that penis-special thing is still difficult to comprehend, penis doesn't change my life drastically, bending does - it's basically the most powerful weapon till recent inventions Asami's father brought to world, and I am just sympathizing with those normalos, it seamed to me that benders are feeling pretty repulsive about not-benders, and distanced from them, the world is build in a way that suits benders the best. Everytime they lost a bender it was as if he died, too much sorrow, but again this is just my personal opinion, so I cannot claim this as a fact.

I'll stay with my feelings then, no facts cause you are obviously much better informed/more interested in this subject then I am. I feel that the action and events of the show is forced in order to make everything fit. Every character seams unreal, with actions that are of a sadly shallow nature (kids show).
I didn't thought maturity was measured by how many spelling mistakes were made in a post, but I'll let that be your problem.
User avatar #523 to #518 - akneegrow (06/25/2012) [-]
I didn't mean to say you were immature, I just figured, since you commented on your studying, that you'd be anal about spelling like I am.
And yes he did say something about an audience but that wasn't his main point.
I agree with your opinion that the characters seem shallow, and maybe it is a kid's show, but I think I would watch it regardless of who it's made for. I feel like it's a good show and have seen most episodes twice (yes I'm aware I'm a fanboy), so naturally I care more and have retained more facts.

So I won't hold your opinion against you. Especially if you don't care as much as I do.

No hard feelings?

TLAB=The Last Airbender(That ****** piece of work called a "move")
ATLA=Avatar: The Last Airbender or Avatar: the Legend of Aang (depending on country)
Get your **** straight because TLAB was **** and I hate that there's even a single connection with it and the tv show.

Sorry man I had no idea.
I haven't even seen the movie but from what I've heard it's awful.
From the things I've heard about it, it shouldn't be related but I had no idea there was a difference in abbreviations.
I called it TLAB because I wasn't planning on saying ALOK.
I was also hoping people could infer with the context.

User avatar #17 to #16 - pettergriffin (06/23/2012) [-]
from the wikia:

Tarrlok, however, used an Equalist glove to ignite the fuel tank, causing the boat to explode, presumably killing them both, though just before that Amon shed a tear, possibly indicating he knew of his brother's intention all along.

An hero is going out in either an epic fashion or doing something heroic that immediately leads to the hero's death. Regular suicide is not an hero, but what Tarrlok did was.

Tarrlok is the an hero Gotham deserves.

1) Committing suicide over something really stupid.

2) Failing to commit suicide over something really stupid.

3) Doing something stupid, which results in accidentally killing yourself.

4) Also sometimes used on the work safe boards for someone who deliberately posts porn, which is considered both "suicidal" (due to the ban that usually follows), but truly heroic.

Term originates from a grammatically incorrect poem posted at a myspace memorial for a boy (Mitchell) who killed himself when he couldn't find his ipod.
