#129 completley misses the point of why magikarp is the weakest pokemon. its not because of his base stats, its because the only move it can learn is ******* splash which doesnt do a damn thing (although i think he can learn tackle at a level close to his evolution but im not sure)
User avatar #246 to #223 - kerfufflemachtwo (06/24/2012) [-]
Magikarp can learn tackle, flail, and splash before he evolves. If you hold his evolution for a while, he can eventually learn water gun.

However, he cannot learn any TMs or HMs.
User avatar #289 to #246 - stefanos (06/28/2012) [-]
u forgot flail
#233 to #223 - fortyfourmagnum (06/24/2012) [-]
He can also learn bounce, if you breed them correctly I think.

#136 No.. NO! **** YOU. In my mind, Jessie and James will ALWAYS in their mid-twenties or early thirties.

Great post though. Keep em coming.

User avatar #208 - traviver (06/24/2012) [-]
There are female Mr. Mimes because its Japanese name is "Barrier", only in English is the Mr. prefix given.

And Magikarp is seen as the weakest pokemon because of its lacking moveset, high catch rate, high population (you can find them in any body of water, practically, with the old rod).

Pokemon and **** , yeah.

Mr. Mime has a 50% chance of being female, so does a vast majority of all pokemon in all the games...
User avatar #206 to #204 - newerusername (06/24/2012) [-]
So a female Mr.Mime doesnt sound wierd?
User avatar #221 to #206 - moofinbanana (06/24/2012) [-]
Not really. The ones that are odd to me are the ones that look male or female by appearance, like Bellossom, Misdreavus, Gardevoir, Onix, Steelix, etc.

I know Paras and Mewtwo have the exact same cries.

I'm now very curious to know which 7 pokemon are weaker than Magikarp? You know, just to have as 'back-of-my-head' information.

can someone plz explain 133 for me. i dont understand it
User avatar #189 to #180 - bagguhsleep (06/24/2012) [-]
I'm assuming "formally special" implies that it was a special type as far back as gen 3. The special types were fire, water, electric, psychic, dark, ice, grass, and dragon before the physical/special split starting in gen 4. The Eeveelutions cover all of these types except for dragon.
User avatar #197 to #189 - avirexhyjack (06/24/2012) [-]
but evee didnt turn into a fight type, or a flying type, or ghost...
User avatar #198 to #197 - bagguhsleep (06/24/2012) [-]
Those weren't formally special types.

I'm not trying to be one of those Internet dicks. But I don't see why everybody loves pokemon so much. I mean yeah..I used to love it when I was little but now its just not appealing anymore to me. I would really like some guidance from a fellow FunnyJunkie to show me why it's so amazing.
User avatar #222 to #179 - orgasm (06/24/2012) [-]
Pokemon was one of those games that were never forgotten. It always kept you in your grip. It helps you strategize how you play the game. Whether you want this pokemon in this slot of the party, or this pokemon to learn this move and take away this move. When you choose your starter, it's almost like a pet to you, therefor you can never take it away from the party, it's instinct. It helps you care for animal type beings and just helps you have fun, sometimes when I was in a bad mood, I would put in my LeafGreen and all of a sudden I'm in a good mood again! I will never forget when I first started Pokemon.

i second everything stated in the comment below this one, and on behalf of all of us still obsessed with the franchise, i'd like to extend a somber farewell to you, a fallen trainer. it saddens me to see a fellow Pokemon enthusiast depart from our passion, but i respect your maturity and wish you the best in your life's endeavors.

Well thank you for being respectful. I don't see why I get red thumbs for asking a question nicely. But anyway..thank you again. I mean there are certain things in my childhood that I've held on too. Take comic books for example..I love Spider Man and I know how it feels when an outsider insults or doesn't understand your interest.
User avatar #262 to #249 - jokeface (06/24/2012) [-]
are you excited for the new Spider-Man? i think it looks pretty epic. my only gripe is the costume. as ****** as the tobey macguire movies were, i will admit that they got the costume down perfectly
User avatar #272 to #262 - FoonyJoonk (06/24/2012) [-]
Yes I am! It looks better story wise. I admit there are things that would make this suit awesome. Like white eyes that were bigger.

allow me...its the only reoccurring saga i can remember that is appropriate for all ages, it ties to the anime in few ways (the anime is gay) and its a solid tool in strategy, team building and the ability to care for an intangible object. when i chose a starter i can never replace it, because it is a part of me...as childish as that sounds, ive been playing pokemon since i was a child. im 22 now, and it is one of the only things keeping me attached to my ever dying childhood.
