It's nice! but not exactly what I'm looking for. I am looking for someone who'd be willing to draw a female character. I'm not sure what style I want but I'd like to know a wider variety so I can make my choice.

An NSFW artist would be pretty great, actually. I don't want an NSFW picture, I want a SFW one, but nsfw artists might know how to make what I like.

But your picture does have a certain charm to it.

User avatar #67062 to #67049 - defectivedetective (01/15/2015) [-]

I honestly can't answer that since I don't know much myself but sometimes I think it helps to play around with it a bit and if you finish it and it still looks like shit, then you can throw it out. A lot of drawings will look like garbage during the first few minutes of it

Hey guys, I'm trying to get better at drawing from life,
and I would like to know how to draw a tree.
I'm not asking for like step by step instructions, but when I look at a tree it's hard to overcome all of its details.
I know the basic rule: break it up into simple shapes,
but how do you apply this to something like a tree?
#67014 to #66996 - anon (01/14/2015) [-]
I think it's just a matter of getting the general shape of something like the trunk before you start filling in details, like twists and knots
Then you can refine it and refine it some more
Leaves can be done as anything from loads of small strokes of varying shades or big clumps with some texture

Probably not very helpful, I know, but it's kinda just a thing you get the feel for over time

I never draw anymore. I don't have time for it because of my shitty school.
I put so much time in school but I still fail. They litterally fuck me over and it's were i get my aggression from. I take it out on people online. GG me.
My own pc has hardwarefailure. I am trying to save money but with no income that's impossible. I can't work because I don't have the time for it.
The reason i can get on fj now is because I have some kind of test week.
We go to school, make a test, and go home. Tomorrow we got a test which we can't study for.. so now I got time. But im tired and stressed and I won't make it this year.
I'm wasting time on school while I could've gone to a school which required less time but is shit education but it atleast wouldve gotten me time to study art.

Of course. But sometimes people can't rely solely on that, they need someone to clarify and simplify things for them, especially when it comes to painting
#67111 to #67110 - legendaryhero (01/15/2015) [-]
Remember when I drew mlp ponies?
I was first doing it like that guy above did, but when I started looking at actual references. I understood it much clearer, copied the way it looked and after doing it multiple times I was able to do it on my own. with the colors looking good. Looking up things for fur and shit.
What always held me back was what he did too. I fell in love with the lines I made before / the stylization/ and refused to look further.
Once I understood it was all much easier.
Just throw what you know away and start anew.
Ohwell. if this is what he wants to do..

I just dont want him to end up like pic related.

the drawings are probably done with reference. but most likely from the mind while knowing how to go around colors. which is also very important.

If you want it to look simple, then it's probably best to go with cel-shading. If you want a more painterly approach, just using a large brush could work too.

Also, give a shot at painting over your lines. They can be fairly restricting when painting hair/fur.

cel shading is nice, and I usually do it, but it just looks flat to me

Oh yeeeaaaah I remember that
But I think that's a little different to making something look like fur, y'know?
You don't do each strand or anything like that but I usually see artists use a mix of light and dark streaks, I just can't do it very well

I'm not sure about sai, but in manga studio I use a brush that has the texture that you see in the photo and with proper colour using you get a pretty good result.
I took a shot at his right ear to show you what i mean, . So yeah, try and find a brush like taht

was that easy to do or whut?
Like is it a single stroke brush or the multi line one, whatever it's called?

no it's multiple strokes, and you change the size depending on what you're doing
Hightlights normally use smaller sizes.
