Holy ****, the very first slightly funny thing on this channel, I men it's barely funny but at least it was a joke, most of the things on here are just chemical reactions, and the rest have absolutely nothing to do with science beyond the fact they're of this planet. It needs to die or die down.

Why not N2O3?
Noble gas configuration, octet rule, so on and so forth.

Well, the molecule she asked for is nitrogen DIoxide, so we're looking for NxO2. The only thing that fits is 1, or else it would be (prefix)Nitrogen Dioxide.
If you're asking me why we couldn't have an N2O3 configuration... ask me again in about 10 hours, once I've gotten some sleep. I'm a chemistry teacher, I ought to know this, but not after about 20 hours straight awake.

NO2 is, to the best of my knowledge, impossible.
Think of it like this
O needs 2 bonds
N needs 3 bonds
And C needs 4 bonds

Hence why one can have CO2, O2, N2, whatever.
It's a little more complicated than this, but I'm pretty sure NO2 is impossible.

It's not impossible. However, it's not called nitrite, not Nitrogen Dioxide.

Nitrogen Dioxide is the old stock system.

NO2 is possible, it exists in equilibrium with N2O4

Why not just Nitrogen (mono-)oxide? That leaves you with NO.. And afaik both of those elements can have double covalent bond (no idea if those are the proper terms, I don't live in an english country, so I didn't have english chemistry =p).

Laughing gas, if you will.

Also known as Nitrous Oxide. Sometimes referred to as just Nitrous when used in cars.
