Atheism is the belief that no god exists. What you are talking about it the big bang theory and the theory of evolution. Completely and utterly unrelated. Also completely and utterly incorrect.

atheism basically breaks down to "no religion". it is a lack of belief, because belief in a negative, as you have proposed, is ******* stupid. i dont believe in any of the religions that have been proposed to me. Due to this failure on their part, I do not believe that a god exists. I'm not saying that i believe there is no god. there is a difference. also, sorry about commenting on this old post, i just want you to have an accurate representation of what atheists (don't) believe. :) pm me if you would like to discuss things with an atheist who's not an asshole about it.

I think the point he's trying to make is that if you believe that no God exists, i.e. you are atheist, then you are essentially saying you believe that something arose from nothing. If you think I am mistaken in this assumption, please let me know what anyone who doesn't believe that God created the World thinks in contrast.

Makes more sense than something that never existed in the first place. :o Jesus actually did live, as opposed to nothing. Which was nothing. And therefore nothing. Nothing more.

Yea, but the thing is, when there's nothing, there is no science. Because it's nothing. o-o;

Picture unrelated other than the fact that cats are great. :o

For there to be literally nothing, God could not exist.

But there must have been nothing in the first place, for you to argue that time existed before the big bang, then i can argue that time existed before God.

This is potentially the biggest douchebag post I've ever seen on FJ. It's not funny, its just shoving Atheism down the throats of FJers. And you still complain about Christians forcing their religion on you.

Nope not at all, it's just saying under his personal opinion what he would like to believe in, not pressuring or influencing anyone to follow his opinion.

I think the main problem is that most people aren't smart enough to realize that science and religion should go hand-in-hand. If you approach things logically, rather than irrationally (hurr durr, universe was created in 6 literal days), then things start making more sense.

<Stephen Hawking, for example. This guy is vastly intelligent, all involved with space and science, and yet he believes in creation.

I believe that science is simply the means by which God created the universe.

>Be in Biology Class
>Teacher talking about evolution
>Group of religious people suddenly forms in the room
>All whispering "What a bunch of ******* ********!"
>They start getting louder throughout the lecture (especially when teacher talks about beginning of life)
>Teacher say they're just theories that we have to study and that you don't have to take them to heart
>Kids turn into ******* animals and start talking about how there isn't any proof
>Tell myself not to get involved but can't
>kid calls teacher a nonbeliever and says that she's going to hell
>teacher just takes it and does nothing
>I cant take it anymore "Ya know, I gotta agree with you guys. A Jew who teaches us to play nice nice then dies and becomes a zombie because we were made out of mud and talked to a ******* snake who told us to eat an apple make a lot more sense than years and years of hard factual research. Everyone else cheers and ignorant faggots go deathly quiet.

"19 Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt. 20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses."

(Ezekiel 23: 19-20)

It also has its fair share of lulz :P

You're right, but this is more of a statement that is about bringing opposing ideas together, in a accepting way. There is nothing up there saying Atheism = Science since Atheism is just a lack of belief in a deity.

Well that is what I believe. :P

Wannabe Christian: goes to church early, reads bible, believes it, is saved.

"real"Christian: Says "I'm a Christian because i believe in god."

Makes perfect sense.
