if i remember correctly, after Johnathan tried to kill Dio with it, dio froze it. Johnathan used the fire to unfreeze it, but then dio broke it. This made johnathan have to catch his fist on fire and do a spinning overdrive to "finish" Dio off. so they probably left it behind since it was all broke and ****.

It either sunk with the boat or was left in Dio's castle after their final battle since he didn't have a use for it.
