What exactly is warhammer? is it a real time strategy?

It's a tabletop RTS.

Think "Dungeons and Dragons" but with little figures and set pieces.

And an infinitely more annoying fanbase.

well ya they did make a few rts games, the dawn of war series, but warhammer is really a traditional board game played with big ol rule books and minis. warhammer also has enormous amounts of lore which is what really brings people into the game. also a lot of great books. if you are interested at all you should read the lore either at

full out board game with rolling dice and miniature figures you put together and paint yourself. but if you dont like that there is "space marine" a 40k first person shooter as well. but they just show a few of the factions that are in 40k.

the fps is really good, i enjoyed it. of course there are always things i think they could have improved on but other than that it was really well made.
the dawn of war series are a fun real time strategy as well
dawn of war 1 has more of a total war theme to it, with tons and tons of units on the field, it also has a bunch of DLCs which soulstorm has the most factions in it.
dawn of war 2 is based more around the individual squad, fewer, more elite units that are more customizable and level up.
