Fun bit of trivia: Jon Bernthal, the guy who played Shane, had a lot of creative ideas for his own death scene that probably would have been pretty cool if the producers had been on board.

1. When he led Rick out into the woods to kill him, Bernthal wanted Shane's gun to be unloaded so as to prove a point that Rick should be more like him and become the bad guy by killing Shane. He wanted that whole scene to be a test of Rick's will, not a psychotic breakdown.

2. When Shane reanimated, Bernthal wanted his zombified self to be the first zombie in the show to have a speaking like: "Riiiiiiiick..."

For many reasons, the producers decided to scrap these ideas.

Well, there were a few more ideads, as my source will tell you, I just gave you the shortened version for all those tl;dr folks out there.

For example, he also wanted Shane to have the line "I tasted your wife Rick!"

...idk if you said "ideads" as a clever pun or not... but I'm thumbing for the giggle anyway...

A typo, actually, but....I suppose that works as a pun.

eh, whatever, made me giggle. Thanks for the info, man, that would've been pretty badass.

i like the first idea. but unfortunately they had to make the situation a lot more black and white for the average viewer. the second idea would have made no sense what so ever.

Too bad it's based off the comics.

2 is just breaking continuity and being silly.

1's an okay idea

Not to mention, there'd be too much to explain there. The CDC concluded that there are absolutely no traces of what the person ever was in there, that 98%of the brain is dead (save for the brain stem). If a walker actually spoke, you'd have to explain why there's still a trace of who they were in there!

that line would have become legendary.

1 would have been perfect. It would have made Shane a far better character than, "that guy they killed off 2 season's ago"

2 is a bit silly but I really like the idea of 1.
