This is becoming too common a thing, when it comes down to the last man its almost always seems to be the leper. The one who who would want to die for the others being the only one left alive, even when he wins he still loses.

I learned to always hit the big ************ rather than the support thanks to the Swine Prince fight.

I hit Wilbur ONCE and I never made that mistake again.

This is why I always run 3 Plague Priests with Vapour and a Leper, the others were just dead weight anyways.

I recently got in and out of Darkest because on one hand i was having fun and on the other hand Every other enemy hit was critting me. First encounter got all my party members on deaths door and broken. I'm not exaggerating, literally every other hit was a crit every single time like clockwork, **** off if anyone thinks thats remotely fair.

Keep the torchlight up, focus fire enemies one at a time, bring adequate supplies, manage stall against weak enemies to heal.
Alternatively, stack dodge on 2 houndmasters and spam guard dog, can cheese most lvl 1 and 3 dungeons like this.

Theres a difficulty setting? I assume what ever it puts you on by default. Also I should mention this isnt the first time rng ***** me. If you've ever played Smt you'd know of the instant kill spells. Well, those hit me 95% of the time if I play on normal. For example, I would play smt 3, encounter an angel, and it would go first and use hama on demifiend and instantly kill me, ending the game.

I was born this way. It sucks because I cannot legit beat games that use rng as a means of difficulty. Oddly enough FTL doesnt **** me that hard

I know that feel. Once in Xcom I missed 33 shots in a row, every single one with a 75% or higher hit chance.

After the 10th miss I started taking numbers exactly, and calculated that the chances of that happening were (conservatively calculated since I took the first 10 shots as 75%) lower than 1/10^27, or 1 in an octillion.

It's real hard to get better if you can't manually dodge or block
Imagine playing a turn based game, enemy goes first, and one-hit kills you without miss every time. No gameplay, no chance to get better.

You can't control the dice but you can develop strategies to deal with results.
Trinkets add modifiers that help
I got better at strategies: skillset setups, target prioritization, and trinket distribution.

The only instance in which you would be killed without any sort of agency is the instance in which an enemy crits you to deaths door while also applying a DoT, and the next turn rolls over to that character that got crit and the tick from the DoT kills them. That is literally the only completely unpreventable way to be killed in Darkest Dungeon, and even that way can be mitigated by stacking the particular DoT resistance if that extremely unlikely scenario worries you, and by prioritizing the enemy with the damaging attack that applies the DoT.

Basically, if you know what you're doing, the circumstances of having random luck screw you over are so improbable to accomplish that they might as well be considered impossible. This game is not particularly difficult. It's just got a massive learning curve that will cost you a lot of heroes before you catch on.

That doesnt make any sense when the enemies crit you to death. No party combination off sets an enemies ability to crit you

Yes it does, x2 thanks with guards , a healer (not occ) and a dps can completely trivialize most of the content since mostly only 2 guys get damaged and you can just stack defense on them to the point they just dont care about dmg
A good party comp makes this game trivial. you dont believe me , check yt for a 16 week final boss kill, its ridiculous
