Potential spoilers for those who has never seen ff7 story.

The whole emo bit is, in my eyes, less of what Cloud's defining character is, and more what he starts out as. And as the game goes on, he developes more and more as a character, in line as we learn more and more about him and the world he lives in.
And then, once he and us finally learn who he really is, does he finally change from that edgy emo, to a mature, respectable and likable hero.

Just a shame that nobody else seem to care too much about that.

Maybe it is because we do kind off spend the most of the game with his pre-realization state, but I still think his late-game self is the best version off him. Tough that may also be due to the buildup we got to witness.

But he was never an "Edgy Emo". He was standoffish sure, but he still had something snarky and sarcastic to say at a lot of major points in the story. He's never even really that sad, he's just being a rude asshole for most of the first disk

And yet, virtually nothing I just said comes up in any of the other FF7 games. Even in Crisis Core, before he has any reason to be a whiny bitch, he's still written like a whiny bitch. It's like they took him being sad after Aerith died, ignored any point in the game where it looks like he might be perking up more as it goes on, and then just using that as the basis for his entire goddamn character forever.

It'd be like if Cecil showed up again and he was a sad dark knight again, just for cheap drama that actively and retroactively taints it's own source material.

He's not written like a bitch in CC he's written like himself a quiet country boy from Nibelheim who joined Shinra's military and wants to be a hero but didn't make the cut. Then he met Zack and realized the kinda person he could be and looked up to him.
The reason he acts gloomy in KH he's in is because he's in his early AC state or amnesiac.

I actually liked disc 1 cloud more than disc 3 cloud
not that i actually liked him calling him an asshole is a bit of understatement honestly but to me he had more character while in disc 3 he seems more of a generic action hero.

That is because FF12 is both a plot based story and... i forgot the word for it.
A style of story where you are the witness to the events unfolding and not the main player in
it, is the reason many complain because Vann is not Sir Thundercock the 5th that the entire
universe revolves around.

Yeah but you have to build the story around that for it to actually be good and not just an egregious waste of . Emphasize Balthiers "Sky Pirate Mentor"ness more. Maybe have the goddamn paladin have a conversation about what it means to be righteous or something. Even if he's not the hero, they should've actively explored that idea, that he's just some guy in a adventure that doesn't have anything to do with him. Instead he just joins the party, makes a few quips about pirates, and then it's done. The only part during the entire game where it even remotely tries to show that Vaan has any connection to the overall plot is when he sees his brothers ghost and it's implied that the weird-magic-alien-looking things are keeping him around as a backup king in case Ashe doesn't work out. which is kinda neat, he's just some guy who got fated into being where he doesn't belong because he's got godly stats. But that doesn't make it a good story :/

That wouldn't make ANY sense in the first part of the game he's still emulating Zack so he can't act gloomy. Cloud was just a country boy who wanted to impress the girl with the big knockers back home prior to FF7 not a hero. He only becomes one over the course of FF7.

Besides he doesn't act gloomy in anything he's in that I remember outside of AC and that was justified as he becomes himself again at the end anyway. In Dissidia where the second pic is taken from he is literally an amnesiac who barely remembers who he is because his memories had been wiped.

I have a feeling alot of this kind of content from the original 7 is going to be taken out. It would be "too controversial". Or it will be heavily edited to have similar but different or completely reversed depictions. I think you're giving those crazy japs too much credit. They really don't give two ***** about what they make as long as they think it will sell (the main exception being Nintendo, they can be pretty censor happy to really appeal to the west).

They tried to use that excuse for DoA volleyball 2, but everyone knows it just wasn't as good sales wise in the west as in Japan. They just used the 'muh sjw' excuse to take heat off them for not releasing it in NA.

They might change stuff if they feel it helps the game, but the Japs really don't understand or care about the west's fee fees.

In all honesty, probably. I dont think they will do it because of trying to appeal to SJW or whatever cause, well, it's japan. They'd make a gameshow about secretly busting a nut in a SJW's morning coffee if they had any SJW's in Japan. I do think they might lower the size of her sweater stuffers to give her a more human look. In the original games, you mostly see Tifa in your imagination where your brain does all the adjusting. In a photo realistic game super huge gazongas would look...weird. They'll probably take her down to what they had in the advent children movie, which I'm totally ok with.

Tifa has been my waifu for laifu, if I can stand to see her adjusted for the sake of realism no one else has any excuse to moan.
