She seems cold at first glance, sure, but she cares about Geralt and Ciri way more than Thotriss. She'd do anything for either of them, and if you took the time to learn her character and chose the right dialogue options you'd find out she's actually really sweet and loving. Not to mention she is not needy and doesn't sleep around like certain other red haired characters.

The only reason she comes off bitchy in the game is cause she is worried sick about Ciri and does everything she can to find her, which she has been trying to do even while Geralt was busy sleeping around with Triss in Witcher 1 and 2. She trusted him to be a big boy and pull himself together and come find her when he's ready, Ciri is more important to both to her and Geralt for her to take a holiday and come nurse him, unlike Triss who jumps in his bed first ******* chance she gets. And she doesn't even ******* hold it against him, she's pissed sure, but she is willing to put that behind, and be happy he's finnaly there to support her. Don't trip her up, don't second guess her when you know she's right, don't go bitching about about **** that can't be undone anyway and in the end helps you out a great deal and you'll be amazed to find out she's made out of pure waifu material. Unlike Triss, she's got her own head, and you just have to respect that.

The fact that people are so divided over speaks volumes for Projekt's writers. I've never heard so many people arguing over best girl in any other game, save maybe Mass Effect and even then it wasn't to the same extent.

Game developers, hire decent writers. It'll work wonders.

She’s not like that as much In the books. In the books, triss is the ******* asshole, taking advantage of Geralt and all that. I went with Yennefer because of who she is in the books, not by how they made her in the game.

I've read the two short story books and the first proper book - yen is an asshole at first but realizes she loves geralt and cares about him. They also raised ciri together.
Yen has sacrificed a lot for ciri and geralt. Haven't gotten into the triss subplot much yet.

I had weird mixed feelings because I only played Witcher 2 and 3. So thus I was told yennefer was nice and triss was nice. Honestly when it came down to it..... I felt yennefer was manipulative while triss was just trying to do the right thing and just happened to drag geralt into it.

Like in skelliga or whatever at the wake. yennefer just drags geralt in to steal **** from the lead druid's lab. Never telling him of the plan before hand or why they are stealing said stuff.

first off she's not a bitch, as >>#20 explains, but I can't blame gamers for going for the cheap quick sex with the person who, rather than tell you about the memories you lost when you come back from ******* death decides to use you for sex because she has a jealousy and insecurity problem, also known in game by Triss Merigold (at least she's not a rapist technically like in the books).

And second off her attitude towards geralt has another factor beyond concern for ciri: The Last Wish, which was a wish Geralt made to a genie that he and yen be together forever. Stick with yen, and eventually you can help her undo that wish and she realizes that yes, she actually loves geralt (except if you're a dickhead and decided to sleep around with both her and triss, in which case you loose both).

On a side-note, I find it hilarious that on a site with such an obsession for femdom, triss is SOMEHOW the popular choice in witcher 3 when yen is basically text book femdom in a nutshell. The realistic kind of femdom, not the cheap one where she's basically a doormat pseudo-mommy for the dude, but an actual independent dominant woman in a relationship without going over-board into bitchy dike territory.

Oh and her devotion to finding Ciri is basically why she's top tier waifu material: she prioritizes the kids over herself and her own pleasures in life going so far as to get the Nilfgardian empire to help her. In fact going by how her character is, she's the kind of person who will stick around even if Geralt decides to go for triss because she knows Ciri needs her and Geralt to help.

The difference is Great made a wish that they would always be together, and she never knew if the love she felt was real or apart of the wish. After you unbind the wish she immediately tells Gerald how much she loves him and how she so glad that is was her who loved him and not the wish.

Their relationship is really weird and complex if you've read the books. She's a bitch, and kind of loose, but so is Geralt, he supposedly loves her and can't get over her, but he's to stubborn and proud to admit that and sleeps around a ton on his travels. Yenn slept around a lot too, but a short story in the books kind of show that she does love him when she chose Geralt over some other sorcerer.

Basically they're both super proud and stubborn and can't get over themselves, but their glaring imperfections is what make them work well as a couple, albeit quite dysfunctional. Geralt + Yenn is the real romance

My first playthrough I went with Yen because I knew she was Geralt's canon interest (Also I think I missed the Triss romance so there's that) and I didn't regret it. They definitely have their sweet moments. I started playing through again recently and went with Triss this time. My first playthrough was pre-romance patch, so it was still missing a little bit of that extra stuff.
Now I'm not saying Triss is bad, honestly if I had my choice in real life, I probably would take Triss because she's so uncomplicated, like how Geralt explains it to Ciri. But it actually hurt a little bit to tell Yen that the magic was gone after they removed the wish. The way she took the news was heartbreaking
But Geralt and Yen just have so many good moments together. I mostly went with Triss just to go the different route, but in future play throughs, I'll probably be sticking with Yen
