I've heard his voice.. it's not bad as Batman, but I'm rather disappointed that they aren't bringing back Kevin Conroy.. even if he is supposed to be younger..

I just hope to god, if the Joker shows up PLEASE get Mark Hamill. It's simply not the same without Mark.
User avatar #234 to #231 - waterbottlemanboy (06/24/2013) [-]
The Joker does show up, he's played by Troy Baker, and I have to say, he does a good job, really nice laugh too. Watch the gameplay where Batman meats The Joker.

Ehhh... it's not bad but.. I don't know..

How far back exactly is Origins supposed to be? I mean I know it's supposed to be like.. Batman's first night out or something but, how many years is between Origins and Arkham Asylum/City?

I suppose the timing explains why Joker looks like just some random anarchist punk..

I think it's eight years prior to, but it's not his first time as BatMan, it's his first time dealing with big time criminals, Death Stroke, Joker, Bane, Black Mask, Penguin, etc.

i gotta say love Bioshock been a fan ever since the first one but, the last of us, so far has been a way better game that infinite in terms of my interests. Also the play style its not impossibly difficult and i don't constantly die

i liked all the Bioshock games i thought they had good story but one Bio2 and Infinate i hated the endings so much. I got so big into being the guys and them helping their daughters (Altho i thought in INF she was 18 and i love interest that it pissed me off when i found out she was 16 or whatever and his daughter....again) but i mean i guess thats just me. i Like the typical hero story. a weak or weakish guy does a job or some quest thing, get stronger doing it, save a girl and they have a nice romance and then at the end he beats some badass thing that would be otherwise impossible. And then the guy and girl live happy ever ******* after.

I thought the story was a huge let down. It felt like the producers made 75% of the game and then thought, " **** , where are we going with this?", ended the game with quantum physics, and scattered random audio logs to tie up loose ends.
User avatar #179 to #170 - SognaVetr (06/23/2013) [-]
Man, man... The quantum physics was there from the start. The story is what is is because the quantum physics played their part from the start. I think the story is so great because it has, in contrary to almost all other quantum physics/multiverse/time traveling-stories, no plotholes. There might be thing you don't catch at first, but it has no plotholes. Great storywriting.

The ending was the best story ending ever imo.
User avatar #188 to #179 - nunubot (06/23/2013) [-]
The quantum physics ending just seemed rather lazy to me.
User avatar #223 to #188 - useroftheLOLZ (06/24/2013) [-]
Dude, do you know what's it like, trying to write a story that had quantum physics as a key plot element? It's ******* hard a **** , because your readers can constantly come up with "why didn't they do this?" scenarios, and because of this, you have a gaping plot hole in your story. But somehow, the writers of infinite took up the challenge, and managed to write a story that could cover all the plot holes, by my standards, by writers of Infinite are ******* geniuses.
User avatar #227 to #223 - nunubot (06/24/2013) [-]
They did cover the plot holes but they way they did it via randomly scattered audio logs was lazy.
User avatar #229 to #227 - useroftheLOLZ (06/24/2013) [-]
But it allowed the player to explore and take in the level design, they didn't just hand the information to the player, unlike CoD, where the game will shove you under it's skirt and show you it's perfectly trimmed pubes, if you so much as miss a detail.
User avatar #203 to #188 - SognaVetr (06/23/2013) [-]
From the very beginning there are events and clues that shape the end. It's the only logical conclussion of the story. But stories, or the appreciation of stories, are a very subjective mather, so we could discuss about this endlessly.

Hold the phone right there buddy, you're a gamer just as long as you don't only play "bro" games (like CoD and Skyrim, nothing agains Skyrim but "brodudepeople" play it and think they're gamers), or iphone games. Meh, comes to the definiton of "gamer". What I meant are the people like some of my friends that play all the day long and even stay home gaming instead of going out, sometimes...

well inFAMOUS Second Son is my most anticipated game of the next generation.

If you haven't heard of the inFAMOUS series, I would recommend looking into since you just got your PS3. It's an amazing open-world superhero-style game, the motto of it is "if it looks like you can climb it, you can"

No its it's own full game, just used the same engine and looks the same, but with some big gameplay improvements, and in my opinion a way better story line.

As for your university comment, yeah I'm headed of the college this year in September, but in Canada a lot of it is subsidized, I don't know the costs in Europe but compared to the US, Canada's costs are extremely low (still high, but yknow, compared), so I'm just working to get enough money for the PS4, then the rest goes to the college fund.

Well I mean, I'm sure you've heard of Uncharted as that's the PS3's flagship series, so I'll leave it as that. Uncharted and inFAMOUS are also both 3rd person shooters that require climbing a lot, however Uncharted in linear where inFAMOUS as I said, is open world.

There are some great ones though for every genre.

If you're feeling a but retro to the PS2 age, go grab the new Ratchet and Clank future series or the new Sly Cooper game (The HD Collections of those AND Jak and Daxter are also available)

If you want to go into that more zoned out FPS action genre, Killzone and Resistance are the games you want (the first Resistance even has some controversy in Europe of I recall, fun **** !)

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a must have for anyone who owns a PS3, mind you if you haven't played the first 3, you may be confused, luckily the first one is available on the PS Store, and 2 and 3 are in the MGS HD Collection. The Legacy Collection is also on it's way which features 1, 2, 3, 4, and PeaceWalker all together one one disc.

If hack n slash DMC style fighting is your game, you could try God of War, not my most favourite game, but a lot of people seem to enjoy it.

And for your RPG hunger, Ni No Kuni is being called one of the best RPGs of all time.

You give me a genre, I'll tell you a PS3 exclusive in that genre.
User avatar #63 to #60 - ljxjlos (06/23/2013) [-]
Okay, Shooter isn´t that much to my liking and the stuff I´ve seen from Uncharted...well, it didn´t eally pique my interest.

Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank were never really my case - are there new ones from Spyro or Crash, tho?

What does FPS mean? I´ve seen Killzone once, but I have no idea, what it was all about...

Yeah, I´ve heard tons abozt MGR, but as I´ve never played one before, I´ll wait until when I have some time to play them all in one go.

God of War is something I´ll play in between, as I´ve been told, it´s only around 5-6 hours long (who even plays 60 damn euros for 5-6 hours of gaming?)

Ni No Kuni rings a bell, I´ve heard tons about it and only good stuff.I´ll play that one for sure.

Is there anything that´s close to Final Fantasy? As this is my favorite series. Or anything that can be compared to the Advance Wars-Games, I loved the light-hearted stategy in those.
User avatar #98 to #63 - racrox (06/23/2013) [-]
Okay woo boy... I gotta do some damage control here...

When I say Uncharted and inFAMOUS are 3rd Person Shooters, that's because it's the, I guess "main" gameplay feature, for instance in inFAMOUS you CAN shoot lightning out of your hands (no guns), but I mostly use Cole McGrath's other electricity based powers.

You DO NOT want the new Spyro's, unless you want your childhood to be beaten to a bloody pulp within an inch of it's life. I'd recommend Sly and Ratchet for the pure platforming genre, because Spyro's dead, and Crash is surviving, but we haven't seen him in a game since 2008.

FPS stand for First Person Shooter, in case you don't know First Person means you see out of the eyes of the main character, where 3rd Person means you see from a camera behind the character. Killzone is more of a generic FPS along the lines of games like Battlefield, and Resistance is more on the unique side with guns that are meant to be a little crazy.

MGR and MGS are NOT the same genre by any means. Metal Gear Solid is a series of stealth games, probably the highest quality stealth games ever. Metal Gear Rising is a hack and slash like DMC and God of War, it is a spin-off of Metal Gear Solid.

God of War is a very... unique game let's say... the first one took me about 8 hours, the first one was also a PS2 game that I played on the God of War HD Collection, which was only 20 dollars for 1 and 2. The first one was also VERY fun and entertaining, however all the games after that are pretty much just the exact same game over again. I recommend playing at least ONE God of War, but maybe not any more.

Yeah Ni No Kuni seems right up your alley.

As for games like Final Fantasy, let me tell you, there are TONS UPON TONS of JRPG's on the PS3, I just don't know any names off by heart because I don't own any of them. I know there's Persona 4 Golden, Disgaea 4, HyperDimension Neptunia, and some Atelier game, but those are the only ones I know the names of, but yeah there's a bunch.
User avatar #102 to #98 - ljxjlos (06/23/2013) [-]
Sounds like Darker then Black. And that´s a good thing.

Are the new Spyros really that bad?

Ah, okay, once again, shooters. It´s just not my world, I guess, as soon as I hear shooter, I get turned of. Unfair, but sadly that´s how I feel:/

Then, is the hack and slash one the one with the Katana/Cyborg-Dude and the originals the one with the dude who was in Smash Melee? oh god, i sound like an iliterate idiot.

Well, okay, then, whch one would be the best amongst them?

Ooookay, those will probably take up most of my gaming-time.

Thanks for all the Info!

Hey, saw your discussion here and figured I could leave my 2 cents, although it's a little late.
I've mainly played on the 360 and only played the PS3 exclusives at a friends place, but I can still recommend a few multiplatform games.

You should definitely get Star Ocean: The Last Hope, it's a long and fun action RPG. It centers on the RPG elements though, it's between 40-80 hours long, very different from person to person, and that's without any of the sidequests and end game content.

Also, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, it's a hack n slash RPG, kind of like DMC with RPG elements in a huge open world, the main campaign is pretty long and speed running every sidequest takes literally 200 hours.

Also, get littlebigplanet 2, it's a kind of platforming sandbox game, and it is so much fun! I recommend it to anyone.

That's all I can come up with on the top of my head that racrox hasn't said, but I'll leave a message if I remember more.
Enjoy your gaming!
User avatar #307 to #279 - ljxjlos (06/24/2013) [-]
Welp, Star Ocean! I was looking for that one, I saw someone play it when it came out and decided I wanted to get it once I have a PS3, but I forgot the name. Thanks!

Kingdom of Amalur looks kinda interesting, too. And seeing that I can´t buy many games but have to borrow most, a game that can take up so much time, would be the most logical joice, if I buy one.

I´ve seen Little big Planet. Looks interesting, but I´m kinda afraid that I won´t get the gaming mecahnics.

Yeah it's a damn shame.

No, I only had the PS2 and for a while a Gamecube/SNES/N64 because I had to play all Final Fantasy Games, after my Dad won the PS2 with FFX. Sadly I had to sell everything. And with University, I couldn´t afford anything of the 3rd Gen up to now. (other then the DS)

Yeah I actually make the connection from Hei to Cole often, Electricity based powers are probably my favourite (tied with Time Travel, maybe).

Yes, the new Spyro's are that bad. They went downhill with the "Legend of Spyro" series, but as soon as Skylanders game out he was dead.

Yeah I'm not the biggest fan of shooters myself, like I NEVER touch Call of Duty or anything like it. Only really unique shooters like Resistance or Borderlands can grasp me (Borderlands isn't an exclusive, but it's REALLY, REALLY fun, it's and RPG lootfest akin to games like Diablo).

Metal Gear Rising is the one with the Cyborg Ninja (Raiden). Raiden was the main character of Metal Gear Solid 2, whereas Snake (the guy in Brawl) is the main character in the rest of them (sort of). Every Metal Gear Solid game is a stealth game, 1 and 2 have overhead camera (like a birds eye view) while the rest are 3rd person, and while you CAN shoot guns, the game REALLY encourages you not too, because you will get caught and be rushed by like 70000 gaurds and die. But yeah as I said, Metal Gear Solid 4 is a must have for any PS3 owner, I don't know one PS3 owner out of my friends that doesn't have it, or at least have played it.

I couldn't tell you what the best God of War is as I've only played #1, a little of #2, and a demo of #3 and the first PSP one.

Pity, I really loved Spyro back then. Spyro and Crash were my first games, we only had it 2 weeks when we were on holidays in denmark and a PS2 in the house...it was awesome.

Yeah, Borderlands did sound interesting (also, I don´t really care about exclusives, I´ll play what I want to play.D)

Those really sound interesting, I´ll play them!

This season's pretty good so far, I'm not such a huge fan of the non-lore based episodes but some of them I like. Anything that has to do with Simon and Marcy is an instant favourite episode though.

Sometimes I feel like I'm a minority when it comes to gaming. I don't want your gray, gritty survival horror **** or a brown palette. I want something epic and colorful. Something that doesn't make me rage every 15 seconds. Something that I keep playing because it's fun and not just for the challenge. Something with a sense of humor, for a change. No, cock jokes in queers of war don't count.

Seriously, when's the cycle going to finish so we go back to older trends? I want a Brutal Legend 2.

Borderlands 2 is very close to what you described. So is SR3, but that's for complete and utter chaos, nonsense, and inappropriacy (I like it.) Hell, even something like World of Warcraft might suit you if you want stuff that's meant to be fun rather than challenging (it all comes down to number crunching, pretty much.)

So difficulty wise, is The Last of Us like Dark Souls?
#166 to #13 - anon (06/23/2013) [-]
No, Last of Us is extremely easy. I only played on Hard, never beat it yet, but the AI barely notices you making stealth the boring way to go.
User avatar #14 to #13 - watthekilo (06/23/2013) [-]
on hard mode its dark souls
User avatar #15 to #13 - blueeyeswhitevenom (06/23/2013) [-]
No, I finished it on hard and am now working on survivor mode. The thing about the game is, if you just go in guns blazing, you will surely die fast. And even if you don't die immediatly, you will run out of bullets fast. Ammo and healthpacks aren't just lying around everywhere. you have to plan ahead just a little and try to sneak past enemies when you can or perform stealthkills. It's a very good adventure game. But if you use your head it's not difficult. Naughty Dog did their best to make a challenging game and succeeded IMO.
But it's not a hard game. I finished on hard and I'm not that good at these kind of games.
#19 to #15 - Zayonism (06/23/2013) [-]
There is a big difference in difficulty between hard and survivor. You don't really take more damage or anything like that, but items are MUCH more scarce. Ans you no longer have that super hearing ability.
User avatar #29 to #19 - blueeyeswhitevenom (06/23/2013) [-]
Yeah, i know. The hearing ability isn't a big deal in the beginning of the game. That's where I am now. First building with clickers. But I can imagine when I get further in the game I'm going to be screwed. But what I was trying to explain is that if I can finish it on hard, anyone should be able to finish it on easy or normal. Like I said, I'm not that good at these kind of games, so if I can do it, most gamers with a little experience with TPS/adventure games, should be able to finish the game. So, it is no dark souls.
#213 to #19 - anon (06/24/2013) [-]
it not that hard tbh
User avatar #35 to #15 - JohnE (06/23/2013) [-]
I'll add that you can go guns blazing a lot, but if you do, you better be prepared and make the majority of your shots one-hit-kills.

The sneaking system in TLoU isn't very reliable.
User avatar #40 to #35 - blueeyeswhitevenom (06/23/2013) [-]
could be true. But like I said, I'm not really good at these games. So going in a fight and getting one hit kills on all enemies is very, very unlikely for me.
User avatar #42 to #40 - JohnE (06/23/2013) [-]
It gets much easier when you obtain the shorty and shotgun, you can just run up to them and point-blank them anywhere.

I never use the rifle though. Trying to aim that thing unupgraded is a challenge all its own, let alone getting headshots.
User avatar #48 to #42 - blueeyeswhitevenom (06/23/2013) [-]
A lot of people seem to dislike the rifle. I'm one of them. I haven't been playing on survivor for long, but if you get even less ammo then on hard, i'll have to stick with stealth. On hard I saved as much as possible ammo and I still ran in to problems because I almost ran out a few times.
