My mother knows I'm a huge Elder Scrolls fan (and, of course, she doesn't know anything about it, which isn't her fault) and when she saw the trailer for that movie (she saw it before I did), she called me up and told me they were making an "Oblivion" movie. Obviously, I got super excited.

MFW I finally saw the Oblivion trailer and was thoroughly disappointed that it had nothing to do with my favorite game...

Just think though, you won't have to deal with what would probably be the disappointment of a horrible adaptation of it if past video game movies are any indication of what it'd be like.

I thought it was too because the poster I saw even kinda had similar writing but I was kinda a bit relieved that it was a different thing because they would probably just butcher the whole elder scrolls thing. There is too much lore for them to make changes even minor ones without people losing their freaking minds. I don't mind so much when they try to make a movie about DOOM and it kinda sucks because who cares really anyway DOOM is just fun shooting martian hellspawn or whatever.

Could explain to me why everyone hates Cage so bad? I'm not butthurt, Its just I've seen some good and bad movies with him in it. Alot of actors are that way actually. I mean if anyone saw the movie "Next", I thought it was a pretty well made movie.

For those of you who tl;dr, Nick Cage isnt too bad in my opinion.
#181 to #146 - anon (04/29/2013) [-]
He isn't a terrible actor, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't read the scripts of movies before going with it. He's had a couple good movies, but he's done a lot of baaadddd ones, or mediocre ones at best.

For the video game movie version of Oblivion, I would rather have some nobody actor than Nicholas Cage. Its like the create a character in the game where the player is randomized.

I;d watch it but only if Sean Bean plays Martin
Septim
User avatar #119 to #47 - Aerodamus (04/29/2013) [-]
It would pretty much be guaranteed. Let's just look at the three main points:

1. He loves acting in medieval entertainment.
2. He already voices Martin Septim in the game.
3. The character dies.

It fits pretty much all of his criteria for acting in a movie.

Skyrim's plot is too basic to be a good movie.

Oh no! *some apocolyptic force* has/have come back to destroy the world!
Hey you, *legendary hero who must slowly discover his powers*. Save the world!

Besides, they couldn't have good acting and stay true to the game.
User avatar #91 to #77 - cthumoo ONLINE (04/28/2013) [-]
I'm not so sure, it's too basic for a game, but there are sub plots which they could try to merge with the main story (like they could make it all end and piece together). Damn sight better than most films now anyway, albeit just a cluster **** of crappy story. what was my point again?
User avatar #135 to #48 - roflsaucer (04/29/2013) [-]
I think it would work out better as a comedy. I can't imagine them being able to pull off a dramatic moment in movie form, since they don't really exist.

Would probably work out better as a comedy, to be honest.

turning a game into a movie is a downgrade... game company resources are always best designated to making more games, not tampering with other mediums
