i know im going to get thumbed the **** down. but i need to get this out.

I DONT WANT TO SHARE MY ACTIVITY.
IVE NEVER WANTED WORTHLESS TROPHIES
I DONT WANT TO PAY EXTRA TO UNLOCK MORE OF THE GAME
I DONT NEED MOVIE SUBSCRIPTIONS
I DONT NEED AN INTERNET BROWSER (unless im after wallpapers)
I DONT WANT ADVERTISEMENTS EVERY TIME I TURN THE THING ON

ALL i want to do it buy the game, stick it in and ******* play.
the ONLY two features ive EVER found useful is adding friends for multiplayer and playing my music in the background.

implying you're the only one who thinks this. a lot of people still just play the games. i go on my xbox and see all this extras stuff but everyone knows it's made for games and that is still the core to the game systems. i actually like achievements. i think they mke a lot of games more replayable. i just beat the new Tomb Raider and i thought it was an awesome game. but then it's like what do i do with it now? i beat it and the multiplayer sucks, so i go after achievements. people can still just stick in the game and play it. it's not like there are little messages like "your game will continue after this paid advertisement" all the extras on these consoles are there as gimmicks and gamers know that

I may be thumbed down too, but i think what you are describing is pretty much what Nintendo is (was ?) doing.
I began with the SNES when i was a kid, and i now own every single nintendo consoles, because it's part of my childhood, and because i respect nintendo's history and love it's different series (zelda, metroid, fire emblem, mario, etc.), so my opinion might be biased too.

When you buy a 3DS game, you just stick it in the hole, click on it's icon when you turn it on, and play it. On the WiiU, it's pretty much the same, all basic features are available to play (once you updated it when you bought it... but it took me about 40min to install, so i dont know what was up about the ********* about it). Of course, you have many different features available too if you that (internet, friends, sharing etc.), but it's optional.

The main WiiU online game that come to my mind right now, is Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, and it's friend-list, matchmaking and online management are fairly good, nothing to complain about, really.

Anyway, the reason that pushes me to buy (and use... a lot !) Nintendo's consoles is that almost all games it has are exclusives, which doesn't work for xbox and ps though (except for a few ones).

So, nintendos are kinda plug and play (well, if not fully, they are the most plug and play game-stations of the market...), i've never had any bugs or any problems with thoses, and even though they are a bit late next to others about cutting hedge technology, they provide a fairly nice service that completely matches what i want !
(It's like a mac vs a PC, except nintendo isn't overpriced, quite the opposite, and their service is actually better, with good licenses)

PS I own a big PC too, because I like non-nintendo games too !
PPS I'm just sharing my opinion here, because i quite agree with your plug and play vision of what games should be, i don't want to create a haters *********.

TL;TR? Nintendo is cool for serene gaming, i like it.

I actually think the share button on the PS4 could be a fun way to save instant replays of funny bugs and glitches, or just any funny moment of something happening in multiplayer. I trust you'd be able to set it to just save on the PS4 without automatically uploading it.

gonna get down to oblivion, but:
OK, I agree with you, I don't care about features and I think it's horrible when they get in the way of the fun(holy ****, I love the ps3 but I hate how long it takes to start one ******* game)
BUT(and here comes the part where you kill me with virtual red fingers)
As you said it: "the ONLY two features ive EVER found useful is adding friends for multiplayer and playing my music in the background." So you do like some features, so, possibly, there are people that like others features, I, for instance, like the idea of listening to my musics while playing, however, I can never bring myself to turn off the game's music cause of the atmosphere it brings, also, I kinda like the idea sharing stuff(not on facebook), for instance, I think the miiverse on Wii U is pretty neat.

TL;DR: Consoles should have PLAYING games as their biggest priorities, but features are a cool ad on.

There is a little glitch in the PS3 that works with most games. I dont know if you can find it online and frankly my ps3 has been broken for awhile so i dont remember quite how to do it, but it something like starting up the game and immediately selecting a song. Then the music plays in the background as it would when not in game. If that doesn't work then i either have forgotten how to do it or they patched it. But it should work, my friend always does it when ever he plays Red Dead on his PS3.

I don't like how it seems like their main focus is entertainment in general. But, I can't say it's all that bad either. I like how the console can switch from games, to tv, to music, etc in less than 2 seconds. I thought some of the new features were pretty cool. The only major downside I see is how it won't be able to play xbox 360 games. How will I be able to reminisce with halo 3, if I can't play it?! I'm not very loaded with money, so the only way I saw myself getting a new xbox was trading in my 360 to get a discount, but I guess I won't be doing that any time soon.

same here, but don't under estimate sony. Sony believes and has faith in their company's and they will blow you away(sounding like a total faboy). still interested in what they have in store. the xbox reveal seemed a bit lack luster but sony still can't call in the victory yet. i think the ps4 will dray in more existing fans of the ps3, while xbox is trying to dray in the hipsters and casuals and family gamers that will aimlessly throw their money at "new" and "cool looking gimmicks" and hardware, (not saying xbox players are stupid) but i'm just wondering i've heard rumors that there will be two versions of the new xbox (www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LoKFeWASzI) so who knows maybe xbox one is just a consle ment for casuals while number 2 is the hardcore power house of gaming

Maybe Microsoft is trying to take some of the Wii's casual fanbase. Now regarding the idea of there being two New xbox consoles; What do you think will be the main differences if that does happen? Just the internal specs?
#6 to #5 - qubot [OP]

well number two would have better specs ( probably trying to rival ps4 specs) would be ment to play games. would probably carry over some of the features from xbox one.
even though im in the ps4 bandwagon the second xbox might be worth the 2 -3 hundred dollars it might cost i feel like microsoft is trying to innovate too much, make changes where changes are needed, improve products power and capibilty small amounts of innovation , a hint of being different and original, knowing your target audience and not almost completely ditching your prime consumers,in this case with the xbox one would be the hardcore gaming community where probably not very happy with the entertainment based console instead of games.

Maybe the safeguard to that would be that only people whose voices are registered on the xbox one will be able to turn it off. Or it could ask for confirmation before shutting off, or only the person who was signed in can turn it off with voice commands.

All possibilities, but all flawed. I think the only reasonable fix would be to have a button on the controller that activates voice recognition as long as the button is pressed down. And if that is the case, then is there really a point for voice commands at all? for an extra 3 seconds, that "voice" button could be a menu button which i could then scroll through and select TV or Music or whatever crap the xbox one is trying to promote

-Doesn't block used games
-They talked about Smart Matching which should improve people's experience online 10x and you should hear less kids saying they would do your mother in the anus for killing them.
-Backwards Compatibly would not work. Difference in hardware would mean the games wouldn't run correctly because they were designed to run on the 360's hardware. They would have to do what Sony is doing and re-release the games.
-Fee to play used games hasn't been talked about. "Today we have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail."
-Why the **** would they change a controller that is perfectly fine?
-Oh no we have to install games like we would on the Ps3, possibly Ps4 and Pc to play them. Oh ******* no. How terrible of evil Microsoft.
-"My friend paid for that game. I should be able to play it for free." If the game doesn't need the disc after being installed then why would a group of 10 friends each buy their own copy. Split the cost, pay $6 each and then pass the disc around like a french whore. Sounds like a great idea.
-Halo is a flagship title for Microsoft. People have been wanting Live Action Halo for a while now. Why wouldn't Microsoft announce it at their reveal of the next generation Xbox which is going to feature at least two Halo games in the future.
-Why can't the console add entertainment features along with gaming features? A lot of people say they don't want that **** but in the end it is gonna be more convenient to watch your tv show by saying Xbox Sci-Fi or whatever than grabbing your remote and changing the input.
-360 has been leading in sales for the past year or two. About the time those apps and other "non-gaming related things" started becoming big on the 360.
-15 exclusives they said. 8 being new ips. He should listen better.
-CoD: Ghost does actually look improved. With 124 players a match possible on the next xbox could be fun. They said Ghost would be 60 fps.

-How do you know?
-Improve people's experience 10x.... how? Unless some sort of rating system is implemented, there is no way for their systems to differentiate between a respectable player, and a small child being an idiot.
-I agree
-Actually, they have talked about a fee that would be required in order to tie games to multiple systems.
-Controllers are fine as long as they're comfortable, and the 360 is.
-It really depends on how many games you have to install. On my PC, I have over a terrabyte of HDD space, so It really isn't a big deal. I only install games on my PS3 and 360 if they're downloaded from the cloud. If it's only like the previous consoles, all will be fine.
-If I'm understanding what you're getting at, I'll assume that after having installed the game, you are required to enter some sort of serial code, effectively removing this ability.
-Halo is one of Microsoft's go to exclusives. Not surprising in the slightest.
-Entertainment features on consoles is NOT a bad thing. The bad thing is when the start to turn the focal point from GAMING, which consoles were originally created for, to GENERAL ENTERTAINMENT. I and a lot of other people just want to play games. The other features should be an option that we can also use, if we want to. I also pay for cable, and have a cable box, so I really don't see the point to watching TV on my gaming console.
-360 has been leading sales? Proof.
-15 exclusives is cool and all, but are they good games? It's all fine and dandy for them to use exclusives as an incentive for people to buy them, but that does not make them good games. Only time will tell.
-Call of Duty will always be just that: Call of Duty. With the power of gaming consoles increased as it has with this generation, they of course will do bigger things on the first game. But after this initial release, don't expect much difference on the other games.

-Microsoft confirmed that you could buy and sell games back
-There is already a reputation system going on. People can leave feedback like good rep for x or bad rep for y. The Smart Match will find people with similar reputations to yours.
-After seeing more stuff it could be possible an online pass type situation would develop which does blow.
-One time use activation code has been talked about.
-I'm not sure about exact details but developers are going to be able to use the cloud system to do changes to games to some extent.
-Only mentioned the Halo bit because the guy in the video was flipping out about it.
-Possibility that the Xbox One can be used as a DVR. Also easier to switch between channels and all.
-I don't think Microsoft is forgetting about the gamers. Just a possibility for more sales if they added more entertainment things.
- news.softpedia.com/news/NPD-Group-Xbox-360-Makes-It-28-Months-at-the-Top- in-the-US-354070.shtml
- Guy in the video wasn't clear about the 15 games actually being exclusives. He stated that about 4 are only going to be exclusive.
