in GW2 i get to be a huge hulking charr with a greatsword
in GoW i get to be kratos and rip people's heads off
in okami i get to be a sun goddess
the list goes on and on
in real life i'm just a frail awkward weakling whose only irl friend is a stray cat

It's because you're lacking the good stuff.
srs dota is the ****

well i said the list goes on and on, but i don't play those so maybe you are right
i play league, and that's pretty fun so maybe i'll try dota
User avatar #126 to #62 - thevsamovies (04/25/2014) [-]
Yes. Try Dota 2. Highly recommended.
I've played Dota and League. I started with dota 2 though so maybe I'm a bit biased towards it but I like it better than league. It's a bit more challenging though. Like barracks don't respawn, farming is more and important, and some other stuff.

I like items better too.
Anyway ya, you should try it. Idk if you'll like it as much because I guess people tend to stick with the first game they played in MOBAs, but it's definitely worth a shot.

Red Orchestra 2 (which was free like a day ago) is a very realistic WWII FPS. A lot different from shooters like CoD lol. Then the other 2 are strategy. The Total War series are all TBS and Company of Heroes games are RTS. I don't really play them as much as Dota but they're definitely nice, and should make a decent first impression if you don't really play those types of games. (Shogun 2 is best total war)

Ah, I guess you didn't really need me to tell you all that though. lol.

Not saying I'm not a gamer because I am a very hardcore one and I enjoy it very much but it doesn't affect my real life as much people know I'm a gamer and I keep a small list of friends for a reason because i don't want to be in any stupid crowds. But like I've had some very unique events happen to me and my family is quite unique too so It makes me feel like a unique individual outside gaming. But god knows how much I play games.

i've definitely had to deal with the boyfriend playing games when i wanted to do something else. but pretty much as long as he plays a game that doesn't put me to sleep or one that we can play together, it's all good

Ahhhh my girlfriend enjoys it when she watches me play dark souls 2 but I shy away from showing her how many hours I have on my characters in both games. SL435(500 hours) one character in dark souls not including alts and 200 hours in dark souls 2 soul level 228, not including alts its alot of **** hehe, but I've told her I've spent 950+ hours on a game called realm of the mad god. But yeah she doesn't mind it as long as shes in my arms, which gets in the way, and screws me in pvp but its the cost for having a girlfriend. She hates when I play legend league or Dota 2 lol. I have an ungodly amount of hours spent on that life sapper league of legends.

Yeah I'm not a great player though I'm in bronze and the highest i've ever been was silver 4 so I'm not good but I have over 915 normal wins and a bunch of ranked games played. Also its a money sapper. Maybe if I was older and had a job I could supply my need for the game better. Also getting back on the reason why I like my life is partly because me and my mum saw a UFO yesterday at night we thought it was a plane but we got closer and it was hovering and triangular in shape and was no farther than 700 feet above ground and it was ******* giant.
User avatar #86 to #83 - iamsammich (04/25/2014) [-]
that ufo story is creepy
the most alien thing i've seen is where i saw some quick green light moving through the sky out of my peripheral vision. either that or this one time i thought i was seeing starts moving around like alien ships buuuut that was from drugs so it doesn't count

as far as league goes i've only played bot games. and i never plan on playing against people. my skills are nowhere near good enough to play against people, and i would get incredibly competitive and angry from it. it's bad enough how butthurt i get from dying in bot games

I asked my madre to make sure It wasn't the after affect of shrooms but she said it was completely visible and hovering there until we passed by it. I honestly thought it was a hallucination and I'm bothered that it wasn't lol. It was very large for something in the sky.

No IRL friends? Weren't you one of the winners of the first FJ "Hottest Girls" competition? Surely people must hang out with you, if only because of that. Is there not a video games club or something at your college or something along those lines?
User avatar #53 to #50 - iamsammich (04/25/2014) [-]
well my sister hangs out with me, but she's graduating college so i'll be legitimately all alone
i used to have a friend but he was mean and weird. the video game club people seemed to already be in their own groups of friends and it was mostly competitive gaming
competitive gaming turns me into a monster that would give people reasons to not like me
#115 to #53 - anon (04/25/2014) [-]
If you joined the video game club, is it any wonder why you dont have any friends?
User avatar #119 to #115 - iamsammich (04/25/2014) [-]
with the club thing it wasn't anything major. i only went to two meetings before i stopped going. even if i'd kept going, it's not like people saw me walking and were like, "oh, she's in the video game club. better stay away from her." you can't really tell if someone's in a club or not so it'd be surprising if people avoided me because they searched that hard to find that information
User avatar #55 to #53 - chimpaflimp (04/25/2014) [-]
What about a D&D group or something? You seem to like games with a lot of story/RP bind them. You could make friends that way, even if they are 50% chin pubes/ 50% mom's spaghetti.
User avatar #58 to #55 - iamsammich (04/25/2014) [-]
i'd feel incredibly self-conscious and awkward role playing in person with people
the only role playing i've done was on neopets and i'm all sensitive and ashamed of it even though i still like it
i did consider joining it though. i just got scared off because there's all these rules and i didn't want to seem stupid
User avatar #60 to #58 - chimpaflimp (04/25/2014) [-]
Why do you feel ashamed of it? You say that IRL you're "a frail awkward weakling", yet you look neither frail nor weak in the FJ contest pictures. The fact that you got hundreds of thumbs and 2nd/3rd place out of hundreds of submissions should tell you that. When you roleplay, if you seriously think that low of yourself, you can make yourself feel better by becoming a badass mage or knight or something and doing cool **** like cleaving mountains in half or melting peoples' skin off with lava hands or something. You really need to improve your self image; how someone like you can have such low self esteem is completely beyond me. I'm overweight I'm 5"10 and weigh 93 kilos (15 stone) but I don't let that or peoples' insults hurt me, I joke about it myself. If someone compliments you, don't just ignore it or dismiss as people just trying to make you feel better; accept it as something true about you. If someone's acting like a cuntbag, you act like one back 10x worse than them. Oh, and to any other people reading this comment, I'm not white-knighting, it's called "being a decent person". Something most of this site doesn't understand.
User avatar #63 to #60 - iamsammich (04/25/2014) [-]
i'm really weak. i do no exercise whatsoever. i have to use two hands to carry a milk jug if it's full.
idk, my shame is hard to explain. role playing isn't normal and i would just feel awkward. other people might judge the way i roleplay or i might say something stupid. it's a lot easier to role play over the internet because it's just strangers and you don't have to look at their face and read every expression to see if they think something you made your character was weird. it doesn't help that my parents thought it was weird when i had to explain to them i was acting shady about it, switching to another window when they would pass by
User avatar #72 to #63 - fistpump (04/25/2014) [-]
you should try to find other people like you. introvert + introvert = extrovert! i used to be really quiet and unable to talk to anybody. then i met one of my current best friends, who introduced me to a good friend of his, who was also friends with this person and another person, etc etc. now i have a whole lot of friends, and different friends who like different things. for example, i have friends who i met at the gym who are all "lads night out" and that, i have friends i met through magic: the gathering (a card game) who i play dungeons and dragons with, and i have friends i met online, who i can also hit up and play a game or two with.
so i've gone from this guy who said almost nothing to anyone in high-school to this guy who everyone seems to know. it's great. it's made it a whole lot easier to talk to people.
still, sometimes my brain stops working, and i get this thing were i literally cannot think of anything to say to a person. but it tends to be only certain people that do that. do you get that?
User avatar #76 to #72 - iamsammich (04/25/2014) [-]
i've had some friends before in high school, but they all kind of split off and did their own thing. i also heavily rely on my sister to introduce me to new people, but she'll be gone so now i'm halfway through college with no friends and it's not likely that i'll make more. everybody says people talk to each other, but that's more in freshman year. it feels like most people have their own friends and aren't interested in acquiring new ones

i totally get what you mean about the brain not working. when i'm talking to most people, my brain moves at like a snail's pace. if i talked, i would have to take a while beforehand to get my **** together before saying it. so instead i just hang at the back of the group and listen to people
#91 to #76 - fistpump (04/25/2014) [-]
yeah, looking back on it now, there is only a few highschool friends who i still know, and even fewer who i hang out with. suppose that's the result of having a group of friends, as opposed to only a couple of close ones. my high school social group was basically made up of kids nobody else talked to. so we all talked to eachother. as it turns out, there are quite a lot of people like that. you just need to be lucky enough to find them, because even though nobody talks to people like that, it doesn't mean that those people aren't as interesting or funny or anything. i think i'm blabbering again. i'm not fully switched on right now, my apologies.
try to find friends outside of college. that guy i mentioned? the current best friend who led me into a new group of friends? he was just a friendly stranger who added me on Steam because he knew somebody i knew. that guy, though. he's the type of person i wish i could be. he gets along with everyone so easily, i'm kinda jealous.
you ever see the film "Yes Man"? jim carrey plays a man who, after mocking the idea that agreeing to any request will improve your life, tries to prove the theory wrong by doing it. that movie genuinely inspired me. the guy who added me on Steam one day asked to meet up with me. normally, i would have thought "well, no, because i barely know this person, and i know i'll just be all awkward and silent" but since i had this "yes" mindset, i met up with him. that was the start of our current 4 year friendship.
he asked me one day if i wanted to learn to play this card game. "it seems kinda silly", i thought. i tried it. the game was and still is one of my favourite things to do.

wow, i've said a whole lot of nothing. mostly just talking about myself in the hope that i can help or inspire you through my own experiences, i guess.
and yeah, my brain works slowly, too, that's why i like to type messages, i can give it every bit of thought i need to and there is no time limit. dsnt compare 2 RL tlk tho
User avatar #92 to #91 - iamsammich (04/25/2014) [-]
yeah, the thing i like most about typing is you have time to think about what you want to say. with face to face, you can't stay quiet to collect your thoughts for too long or you look stupid. but for me, talking on the phone is the worst. there are much fewer indications and signals for you to work with to tailor and filter what you say
User avatar #105 to #92 - nachoskaka (04/25/2014) [-]
I used to have the same problems as you. The thing is you're too much in your head all the time, that's why you find it easier to talk via text. When talking to someone face to face you shouldn't even think, you should try to feel the moment, your body, clothes, etc., thus making you less up in your head. I can't explain it very well but look into 'bioenergetics' it helped me a whole lot with this in-my-head and low confidence thing.
#151 to #92 - cplkoeksuster (04/25/2014) [-]
Just think. If the person asks what you're doing just tell them truthfully that you're busy thinking out a response. It's not like you're the only one that brainfarts sometimes.
#152 to #72 - cplkoeksuster (04/25/2014) [-]
I met most of my friends by injuring them in some way. I gave one of my best friends 3 stitches with a knife, after which we became friends. Another I somehow managed to blind in one eye with a headlock restricting bloodflow to the brain via the temples . Yet another I launched over my head I was lying down at the time .
I'm a terrible friend.
#71 to #63 - chimpaflimp (04/25/2014) [-]
Carrying a jug of milk with two hands is pretty normal; it means you're less likely to drop it and liquids are pretty heavy. I also do no exercise, hence my weight. Also, does it matter what people think about your "style" of roleplaying? Have you read any of those ridiculous greentext posts like the guy who was a bear that maxed out disguise and imitation or the guy who grappled a dragon to death? Even the Ballad of Edgardo. Everyone RPs in a different way; very few people take it seriously, most piss about and have fun and most peoples' characters are ******* nuts anyways. Don't bother listening to your parents either. My mum thinks anime is weird, but I watch it nonetheless. She hates guns but I still own an air rifle. She doesn't really like violent video games but I have GTA V. You can't let your parents/the few insults you can recall dictate your life. You need to stand up to twats and to yourself as well, say " I am one hot mofo who got over 900 thumbs on a comment your "hottest girls" submission has 901. Seriously. and I'm a 9.52/10 on the facial beauty analyser (see pic). Over 900 people like you based on your looks alone; you as a person could most likely ********** that amount. One comment I remember was SaintSlayer who said he would definitely furiously masturbate to pictures of you. Surely that must count for something. Just remember: the way you see yourself isn't the way others see you. You may think you're basically useless, but you're really not. You seem like a decent person and have a face that could turn gay men straight and straight women gay. You're certainly better off in the looks department than me, a 15 year old overweight lad with a baby face.

what i'm trying to say is, it gets better. you'll lose the weight, just make more of a reason to go outside. go to a friends house who lives a few blocks away or whatever. doing that will also make you more social, so you will feel better about yourself and appear friendlier.

oh no, don't get me wrong. the contest was a really big confidence boost for me, much more than i imagined. i almost chickened out but ended up doing it as sort of a scientific test to see if i was actually pretty or if my friends were just saying that. but it's moreso me not being comfortable with myself as a person and just thinking everything i do is pretty stupid
since i still think i'm pretty crappy, i like for other people to tell me otherwise so i make sure i don't do or say anything weird or unacceptable. so i deeply care about what people think of me. i care less on funnyjunk and i've been trying to be more chill about commenting and not worrying about saying something stupid. i still go anon a lot though. but you can't go anon in real life
User avatar #84 to #74 - chimpaflimp (04/25/2014) [-]
Everyone says a lot of dumb **** . You keep saying that you want to appear normal to everyone, but that is not good. If you were to act normal by today's standards, you would strut around in bright orange chinos and a snapback, wearing fake hipster glasses and those ******* ear tunnel things, as well as looking like a ******* pin cushion because of piercings and you would walk around everywhere screeching "SUCH YOLO MANY SWAG 420 KONY LOL" While taking four billion selfies with useless Apple product #4983. Normal is not good. Yourself is good. Be who YOU want to be, say what YOU want to say, not what everyone else does. Don't go anon. Voice your opinions loud and clear and, if people don't like it, say "it's my opinion, **** you lot" and be on your merry way. If you seriously think one of your opinions is really unpopular, use the Unpopular Opinion Puffin as your reaction image and you'll get thumbs regardless of what your said. Also, if you want to anon IRL, just dress as a ninja. Nobody will know who you are AND they'll think you're a badass martial artist at the same time. Get all dem man-hoes.

but since i don't have friends, i don't want to drive potential friends away by speaking my mind or doing something they won't think is cool. i'm begging for friends and beggars can't be choosers. but to be fair i had that mentality when i got a friend in college for a bit and he ended up being mean and kind of a jerk. but i still feel bad that i ended the friendship because it implies i'm some judge deeming if people are worthy of being my friend or not, and that makes me uncomfortable
User avatar #93 to #90 - chimpaflimp (04/25/2014) [-]
If people can't handle your personality or accept who you are as a person, they do not deserve to be your friend. I've been friends with people who turned out to cunts too. I dissolved those friendships because of their cuntishness. People won't see you as some judgemental bitch just because you don't like someone and if they do, said people are shallow buffoons who aren't worth your time. Don't feel uncomfortable for being who you are. If you think you're a ******* who can't succeed at anything, just remember that in 1788, the Austrian army lead a full scale assault on itself and caused 10,000 casualties. Nothing you EVER do can possibly be as bad as that. Don't beat yourself up so much; accept who you are. If other people can't accept you for just being you, too bad for them. It's their loss, not yours.
User avatar #99 to #93 - iamsammich (04/25/2014) [-]
it always makes me uncomfortable when i think about how much my time is worth and who is good enough for me to spend it with. that's probably from my low self-esteem though and feeling like i'm not good enough to say no to people. buuut the good news is that i've finally got the guts to go to therapy this summer, so hopefully that'll help iron out some issues

Everyone does stuff that's not good/ not very nice. It's called being a human being. Don't degrade yourself because you aren't an all-knowing paragon of perfection of and niceness; that is impossible for anyone. I bet even the pope has had a crafty wank or two in his time. Nobody is perfect, so don't try to be. You can't please everyone, so don't try to. JUST. BE. YOU. If you think something is bad or wrong, ask people on this site about it. even though i wasn't having that bad of a day, this has lifted my spirits. i get these negative, paranoid thoughts a lot, not like schizophrenia or anything but it definitely feels like there's at least two parts of my brain / thoughts. i'm hoping that'll be helped after this summer along with a good bit of other stuff because while it's not bad at first, the constant drizzle of bad thoughts wears me down sometimes. it's nice to focus on the good stuff and remind myself that that part of my brain is just being a dumb asshole

You could always become an awkward, ripped gamer whose only IRL friend is a stray cat you took in. From there all you have to change is the awkward bit.

All I have is my family and internet friends.
At least in video games I can acquire admiration of lords and kings.
And proceed to beat those lords and kings into the ground because I joined the other side.

I have a very old macbook from 2009 and the OS is out dated and can't run the latest version of flash (what you need for RS) Youtube and other browser games run fine, but for some reason RS just won't work.

Dude.

You could just about buy any super cheap laptop and it'd run Oldschool RS with like 5% CPU usage.

I know, but that requires me spending money on a whole other comp just to play RS. Not really worth it IMO

It's not that bad to be honest. I found it fun doing all the quests again and building up everything from scratch in a totally different way then when I was a noob who knew nothing.

It goes like 5x faster because you know the game better from the beginning, though.

And ITT we see a bunch of losers trying to defend their virginity as hard as they can by screaming "fake gamer" at any girl who so much as dares to use the words "video" and "games" in the same sentence. I mean, for Christ's sake, it's a show about people who are supposed to love video games, so she talks about video games. *************** , she's playing a role, everybody stop the presses.

Gaming isn't a club. You don't have to be a pathetic sack of **** to be able to even talk about video games. Gaming is a really fun way for people to explore the worlds developers build for us. If someone claims to be a gamer but doesn't really play video games-so ******* what? If some chick posts a pic of herself holding a copy of Legend of Zelda and says "lol such a nerd XDD", my copy of Fallout 3 isn't gonna spontaneously delete itself from my computer. Steam won't shut down just because a lot of people call themselves gamers and yet only play **** by Zynga.

How can you guys get mad when a tumblrette screams rape if a guy looks at her funny? Bitching about "fake gamers who only do it for attention" is equally as ridiculous of a concept, because both you and the tumblrette end up suffering equally as much aka not at all .

Well, if you're bitching about whether or not someone "contributes to geek culture", then yes. If you don't do it either, you have no room to complain.
User avatar #186 to #185 - anenemy (05/01/2014) [-]
I asked a question, I wasn't complaining.

Also, what kind of stupid logic is that? "If you don't do it, you can't complain." Oh, okay, so since I don't work for a restaurant, I can't complain if they mess up my food. I can't complain to my ISP for throttling me because I'm not an ISP. I can't complain about how bad Resident Evil 6 was because I've never made a video game.

You're an idiot.

Act like your life is a video game, you're the main character in a mmo. Here's the catch. You won't revive, there is no restart, no save files. Make what you can with what you have, do your best, and make your dreams a reality BUT, you screw up and it all comes back on you, one false turn hampers your success, one wrong choice puts you further from your dream. If you lose you will NEVER get a second wind, respawn point, or be able to reload. Can you reach your dream before time runs out? Press Start to Begin.
