this is nothing. today, on teamliquid, there was a forumpost made by a guy who plays starcraft 2, in diamond league with a 360 controller.
blizzard has contacted the dude, asking him about his setup. legacy of the void will possibly be on consoles.
the funny part was watching the guys stream. he was playing with the graphics on low, it looked just like a real console game.

....da **** ?!

I could barely keep a decent APM (approximated, of course) in Brutal Legend MP. I can't seriously fathom how the **** you can manage with a controller....

sppeaking about.... Brutal legend is now coming to steam and PC. rumors of some more multiplayer maps and goodies if it sells well enough.

Already bought it, first thing I did was run a MP match against the AI, just to check how the interface works.

i've been wondering about that. since it was agame that took a PC genre onto consoles, how does the PC port hold up. i'm on the fence untill i can find a good look at the interface and input. does it allow you to select units with typical PC RTS mechanics? controll groups and "box to select"? or is it more directly from the console version?
User avatar #26 to #25 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (02/24/2013) [-]
No, that would mean revamping the game completely, with click-and-drag boxes, etc.

It's simply the console controller commands, but with keyboard input. IMO it's better.

sad. i'd probably pick it up if the controls were redone. guess i am off to the DF forums to voice my concerns :/

Implying Blizzard would ever make any game for a console
User avatar #12 to #11 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (02/21/2013) [-]
They announced it yesterday, it's as legit as you can get

Alright, but I don't believe it was orginally a setup to be a console game

Yeah I'm sure that game would have 4 player splitscreen cause that makes a ton of sense and furthermore PS3 supports more than 4 controllers ******* .
Also notice how the last diablo game that came out for a console was Diablo 1 and why do you think we didn't see D2 for consoles? It could've been done, the tech was the same. It's because gameplay wise Diablo as a console game was and still is a ******* terrible idea. Yes they dumbed D3 down, but honestly I'd been more pissed if it was as close to D2 as some people want. Why? Cause I already fukken own D2.
User avatar #8 to #7 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (02/21/2013) [-]
As someone from a forum brilliantly put it, "D3's main pro is that it reminded me what a great game D2 was. Thanks!"

Oh, and I don't think the D1 port was done by Blizz; until recently, Blizz was one of the most loved Developers/Producers because it gave a huge middle finger to the console market and gave PC the attention it deserves

Yes, consoles actually dumbed gaming down, BIG TIME.

And not only gaming, but "gamers" as well. I've been convinced of that ever since a retard told me that games like Total War, Age of Empires, StarCraft and other RTS/TBS games are actually the ********* game in existence, and that I should play REAL games like Battlefield.

So, sincerely, **** your technical limitations, **** your limited framerate, **** the obsessiveness for actions and shooters that require little to none brain activity, **** your couch potato mentality!

you just haven't met the right people yet
but yeah, I agree, people who play shooters on ps3 don't use skills, they get lucky
User avatar #5 to #4 - pineapplechunkss ONLINE (02/21/2013) [-]
I total agree

I'm not that good in RTS games but I still love the **** out of them cause they are the peck of gaming

why does nobody ever mention c&c when talking about RTS games, this makes me sad... I own every disc of every c&c D:

Are you fully retarded, or 12 years old? If it wasn't for consoles like the NES, Atari, and Sega MS, there wouldn't be a video game market. Gaming was started in arcades, and ported into homes via consoles, PCs couldn't handle games until the mid 90's.

"If it wasn't for consoles like the NES, Atari, and Sega MS, there wouldn't be a video game market."
"PCs couldn't handle games until the mid 90's."

Yeah, sure. Keep dreaming in your ignorance state.

PCs could handle anything that ATARI or whatever could churn out. Problem is that they were too expensive to be common, which was the problem that Bill Gates eventually solved (you know, his main goal, "A PC in every home"?...)

But please do tell me how NES, ATARI and Sega had a more impact than Commodore, Spectrum or the first 486 Pentium....

P.S.: If it weren't for Id Software to create the engine for Wolfenstein 3D, most likely you wouldn't enjoy shooters today. So please, STFU.

Well, the Atari was first released in 1977, the commodore 64, and ZX Spectrum in 1982, the first 486 processor wasn't released until 1989, and the first Pentium was in 1993. One of the main reasons the commodore became so popular was it was a tv based PC with the ability to play Atari games in color, unlike it's predecessor the Commodore PET, which was only capable of monochrome graphics displays.
The NES is almost solely responsible for taking the video game market out of the trash in the mid 80's and making home gaming affordable for the average consumer, and Sega gets a piece of the credit for giving the NES some competition.
There were consoles in homes as early as the early 70's which spurred the development of computer hardware until years later, when the computers could handle games that were already on home consoles and in arcades, like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Frogger etc. All titles that were already widely available for console use.

I'm not saying there were no PC games until the 90's, but they were not nearly as influential as the arcade and console games of the time, and if it weren't for the early consoles, gaming would have had a much slower development.

Elite? the space trading game that used single black and white lines , like Asteroids? Yeah, the same game was released for the NES. Your point?

P.S. ID used an old Ultima engine as the basis for Wolfenstein, and who said I enjoy shooters?
User avatar #20 to #18 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (02/22/2013) [-]
Oh, and do please tell me how the early consoles had immensely complex and sophisticated games like ELITE (the first ever sandbox/open-ended game, with an economical system to twist your neurons in)...
