User avatar #91 to #87 - indecisivejew (06/20/2013) [-]
Very true. They've only taken on regular humans. Big Boss took on a man who could shoot lightning from his limbs, a ghost, a man who could turn invisible and cling to walls, his super soldier mother figure, an astronaut with a jet pack and a flamethrower, a sniper who could merge with nature itself, and a guy who had mutha ****** bees living in his body that were used for combat. And that was all in one game.
#93 to #91 - jahnaids (06/20/2013) [-]
Not to mention that Big Boss has taken on Giant robots in both Portable Ops and Peace Walker.
A super soldier, some dude named Phyton, a Genome soldier appropriately named Gene, and so on.

Not to mention his clone, Solid Snake would go on to do just as badass things.

Plus he has a ************* eyepatch.

true but altair invented the first gun
#159 to #158 - spetsnazvymple ONLINE (06/24/2013) [-]

5x7 mm ap, he, and hp

muzzle velocity 2350 feet per second super sonic subsonic at just under 892 fps

accurate up to 75m, more if match grade ammo is being used.

and just because altair invented the first gun doesn't mean it was good. The shot he made on maysyf was a fluke, a gun with that short a barrel with no rifling would be inaccurate at 16 feet. And considering the round used it wouldn't do much damage to sams armored chest hairs(i say this because he shrugs off ak rounds like an lav). plus guns at that time often exploded

by "could take" i think he meant in an even fight.

Playing as altair i have killed probably into the tens of thousands of enemies rarely one on one too. I mean dude is ridiculous.

put them both in a city with nothing but a knife and street clothes, altair will be closing sams eyes while whispering a prayer.
#50 to #47 - spetsnazvymple ONLINE (06/20/2013) [-]
but they are all really thick, poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly disciplined.
And in a bare knuckle beat down Sam would win hands down considering he is trained in systema, krav maga, and modern armed force combatants. And thats with no tools armor or powers. And I've seen Altair fight with bare hands. All I can say to that is that I am not impressed. And even with a fully equipped Altair is no match for Sam for one simple reason; Sam has better toys.
User avatar #65 to #50 - zorororonoa (06/20/2013) [-]
Altair isn't poorly trained. Ezio or Zonnor maybe, but Altair was born into the brotherhood and has probably spent his life in harsh training and discipline. Don't confuse middle ages training with primitive training.

well one would assume a fully equipped modern altair would have his **** together.

Sam doesnt seem that great to me, ive played the games and he's ok hand to hand but rarely does it. he's spent too much time relying on guns. plus altair would just climb a 20 story building and jump on him.
#56 to #51 - spetsnazvymple ONLINE (06/20/2013) [-]
okay you have to admit that jumping off a 20 story building is extremely far fetched due fact that he may kill Sam with the jump but kill him self in the process. and by far Sams stealth is superior when the best Altair can do is sit on a bench, or walk kinda slow on a horse. What i mean is that he stands in the dark hes in visible, and and altair is wearing white all the time and is kitted out with a bunch of blades.
User avatar #70 to #56 - zorororonoa (06/20/2013) [-]
And yes, I admit that jumping off of a 20 foot building and surviving is ridiculous too, and wouldn't really happen, but I still stand by my stance and say that Altair would beat Sam in a one on one fist fight.

They made it so that he is invisible for the convenience of the game, but come on, he would not really be invisible. He has 3 glowing green lights on his forehead and two on his back, he would not be invisible.

stealth is for vaginas. I only ever stealthed when they made me. Instead i would chew through hundreds of guards, even the elites they send at you.
#63 to #59 - spetsnazvymple ONLINE (06/20/2013) [-]
Being fully kitted out and on some form of opium, and even then sam would still snap his neck. And its the fact that sam follows the special operations code that only the dead fight fair.
User avatar #66 to #63 - sanguinesolitude ONLINE (06/20/2013) [-]
by a fair fight i dont mean them fighting fair. I mean you dont give sam an AK and altair a crossbow.

most true badasses died with the advent of guns. You can train for years in the most advanced martial arts, but a 12yo child soldier with an ak47 can still shoot you.
#74 to #66 - spetsnazvymple ONLINE (06/20/2013) [-]
not well. Hell the insurgents in iraq can't hit **** when sober, so how do you expect a child with an ak to hit **** . Also Altair has no fire arms experience so he wouldn't know where the bullets went. And to properly settle this we have to determine what a fair fight is.

Assassin's Creed has never been a stealth game. Don't get me wrong, i loved the series up until the third, but
User avatar #114 to #113 - yojo (06/20/2013) [-]
Not 100%, but in ACII I was able to sneak around in most areas and missions.
I still like the series, even ACIII. People were actually complaining that it was the same game over and over again, so they changed **** up and most people didn't like it for some reason. I still do. And I fully support their inclusion of ship battles. But It's much harder to be stealthy.
User avatar #115 to #114 - oodlesandoodles (06/20/2013) [-]
The problem with the Assassin's Creed stealth mechanic, is that it tries to force you to be stealthy by saying "No, you were detected. Do it again!" In my opinion, the best stealth games are the ones that say, "Yeah, you can go in guns blazing if you want. Just be prepared to rape that autosave button." Also, I liked Assassin's Creed 3 gameplay wise, I had no qualms with the ship battles. My beef is that the story was crap and Connor was a whiny bitch who never developed past becoming a less whiny bitch.
#136 to #115 - tehpwnz (06/20/2013) [-]
Haytham was pretty bad ass though
User avatar #116 to #115 - yojo (06/20/2013) [-]
I'm not arguing with you there. It wasn't a good stealth game, but I still considered it to be one.
I agree with you about Connor, but it's not easy to follow up Altair and Ezio. And now that I think about it, the story wasn't as good as theirs. But I tried to think of it as an individual game and it was still good. Just not as good as the previous ones.
User avatar #117 to #116 - oodlesandoodles (06/20/2013) [-]
Well, though Altair was my favorite, it's not hard to follow him up because he had virtually no depth. I didn't really care for Ezio, but I won't dwell on that. The real issue was Desmond's side of the story. The first game was eerie, intense, and ended in one of the most creepy and spectacular ways I'd ever seen. The second was less intense, but the ending was still badass and the secret movie was even more so. After that, the story started falling off and AC 3 was like the ultimate **** you to fans of the plot. They completely abandoned several key elements and characters of the series just so that they could keep making games
User avatar #118 to #117 - yojo (06/20/2013) [-]
What elements and characters did they abandon? I feel like I've missed something here
User avatar #119 to #118 - oodlesandoodles (06/20/2013) [-]
The satellite that was supposed to launch. Ole Fish-face (Lucy), who they just killed off and the only explanation we got was a brief "Oh, she was traitor," in the beginning of AC3. There were others as well, but I'm not in the mood to try and find them.
User avatar #121 to #119 - yojo (06/20/2013) [-]
I was actually thinking more would be said about Lucy in the future games. But if they really do leave it at that, I'll be disappointed. Remember there's at least two more games left that could still answer some questions.
User avatar #128 to #121 - oodlesandoodles (06/20/2013) [-]
Yeah, but they set everything up to come to a head in AC3. It was supposed to end there, but they purposely dragged it out making it incredibly boring and uninteresting just so that they could keep the franchise alive. Normally, I wouldn't complain about keeping a good franchise from kicking the bucket, but one of AC's strongest suits if not THE strongest was it's story. I used to always say that even if the gameplay sucked, I would still buy them for the plot, nut that is no longer the case
User avatar #129 to #128 - yojo (06/20/2013) [-]
Actually even before the release or Revelations I heard that since the release of AC2 They've been planning on making seven AC games overall. So if that was true then the game after Black Flag should be the last one.
User avatar #130 to #129 - oodlesandoodles (06/20/2013) [-]
Oh, well, I stand corrected. My apologies, however, that just means that it's not a matter of them purposely ruining a good story for monetary gain, but instead, a case weak writing. I know it seems like I'm complaining a lot, and again I apologize, but damn it, the story would've/could've/should've been excellent had they just stuck with Abstergo and the satellite, and kept the alien overlords in the past. And the apocalypse thing could be a new arc
