You are still able to see the yellow car outside of the glasses though, so uhm... Is this a scam or some **** ?

What it is, if you decided to watch the video, is a layered 3D effect. One pair of glasses adjusts to one polarization, or layer, of the 3D, while the other does the same with the second layer, allowing for split screens, but both players have a full screen.

Yeah, it's messed up, they've had it in display booths for quite a while at some video game stores here in Canada, without the glasses you see both screens at the same time, kinda blended in with each other, then with the glasses, it filters out the correct parts of the screen based on your player/ which screen you select to view with a little button on top of the glasses. Idk, it's messed but it works. The graphics seem a little faded to me but, it's pretty cool, and still looks pretty good.

or you could just do this

But it is still a smaller screen for both of you, not to mention that might look a little awkward when first seen by parents coming into room.

Who cares about them? People who need glasses are genetically inferior, I'm not sure why we're not euthanising them already

i know man, we used to use a cable splitter, and duct tape a folder over half of the screen. it was hardcore.
User avatar #108 to #94 - weirdoo (04/07/2013) [-]
... Why didn't we think of that!?!
User avatar #116 to #90 - lateday (04/07/2013) [-]
I always thought that was pretty normal, to look at the other's screen. Until one time when a friend asked how the hell did I find him so quickly. I just told him I saw his screen. He just replied: "Never thought of that"
User avatar #118 to #116 - weirdoo (04/07/2013) [-]
Nah, you were pretty much cheating if you did, never had the element of surprise and the kills were stolen from you :c

This feature's pretty cool. A lot of games have the option to use it already because it is fairly simple. The image (light) from the game is polarized and each player wears different glasses. One sees the vertical light and the other sees the horizontal light. It'd be cool if they could also do diagonal ones and make it 4 player full screen but I don't know if that would work.
tl;dr polarized light
User avatar #10 to #6 - sketchE (04/07/2013) [-]
except it doesnt work for active 3d

User avatar #21 to #6 - charlesanthony (04/07/2013) [-]
no, it would be only limited to maximum two images. If the light were linearly polarised in a diagonal direction the two other players with vertical and horizontal polarisation would also see the diagonal one.
#7 to #6 - sonjaynooy (04/07/2013) [-]
that wouldn't work, the reason why polarized light works with this is because the light is polarized 90 degrees from each other so each one completely blocks out the other, but if you had them diagonally the light would get interference from both the vertical and horizontal one
tl;dr only 2 for right now

I'm pretty sure Sony already does this.

On my TV, I've tried this but for some reason player 1 is shown through one lens and player 2 is shown through the other lens so each player can see both screens. I wish it would work.

#120 to #117 - CaptainPugwash (04/07/2013) [-]
It's because usually the TVs give out one image for each eye so you can get the 3D effect. Obviously, if you want to see the separate images, you'll have to move a lens from 1 pair of glasses to the other.
User avatar #123 to #120 - tlrloolrlt (04/07/2013) [-]
Yeah, but the problem is, they're active glasses. Also, the TV says it can do split screen games but doesn't seem to work.
User avatar #126 to #123 - CaptainPugwash (04/07/2013) [-]
Ahhh ok, I don't know much about active glasses. They're the ************** ones that change polarity 100 times a second or some crazy **** like that? Either way, your best bet is probably to see if your TV has a setting you can use with some cinema glasses or something, since they're relatively cheap and you can mix them up a bit.
User avatar #124 to #117 - SilentRaver (04/07/2013) [-]
Try messing with the settings. 3D televisions work by flickering the two angled images at such a fast frame rate that the naked eye doesn't notice (as opposed to the two angles in red and blue), each lens of the glasses is set to pick up only one of the two angled images creating the 3D effect. The split screen on video games flickers between the 1st and 2nd player screens at the such a high rate they appear normal to each pair glasses although they're seeing different images. Sorry if you know this already, but it just blows my mind.

Anyways, try seeing if there's a way to configure the glasses so that each lens is set to pick up the same image.

screen looking may be gay, but it made playing 4 player fps with friends much more enjoyable.

I'm no expert, but wouldn't this reduce framerates by half? Please correct me if I'm wrong but I can imagine this working with alternating frames and a synchronised pair of shuttering glasses, no?
#13 to #9 - John Cena (04/07/2013) [-]
No, it's polarization, like 3D Tv's and indeed 3D films. Synchronized shutter glasses would be the most inefficient **** I've ever heard of.
#15 to #9 - henkstr (04/07/2013) [-]
It only works with 3D TV's. Basically, the glasses are normal (passive/cinema) 3d glasses, but one pair has only lenses for your right eye, while the other one has only lenses for your left eye. I hope that i explained that understandable.

I got that feature on my LG TV. It's called dual-play, but being honest: it sucks. In my case, there is a annoying lag and the resolution is cut in half, so it looks ******** , too.
