why would ever choose to install something in danish?
User avatar #13 to #11 - speedyonbiscuit (06/19/2014) [-]
Might be because the person installing it actually was Danish.. I know they're a myth and all that, but they actuallly do exist! You just have to take my word for it
#14 to #13 - kapkap ONLINE (06/19/2014) [-]
im a dane bro, and i always install things in english, makes any potential trouble shooting so much easier

I installed Dark Souls in Japanese. Why not make the challenge a little harder?
User avatar #10 - goodadventures (06/19/2014) [-]
Dark souls difficulty is way over hyped, it's a fairly easy game with a trial and error aspect.
User avatar #39 to #10 - ieatbengay (06/19/2014) [-]
all games are hard if you make you own rules, i find single player rpgs's boring without them
#35 to #10 - aleksandurr (06/19/2014) [-]
And even more often than that, its luck based, as almost every hitbox is broken, so you have to pray you dont get shanked form 4 feet away. Dark Souls 2 is far better, as it is a far more refined, but still not perfect system.
#37 to #35 - anon (06/19/2014) [-]
The hitboxes and the tracking on a lot of weapon in DkS II is ******* broken, man. Especially thrusting weapons - at this point the melee combat system to that extent is worse than DkS; e.g.: you can use the heavy 1h thrusting attack with the Claymore in DkS II and it will often simply glide along to the side of the enemy - even with a hard lock-on, completely bypassing the hitbox. This goes for the Estoc too. The movement in general is much more sloppy and is far from as "tight" and responsive as it was in DkS, primarily the transitioning from walking/running to sprinting as well as turning around - I guess it is the extensive use of motion capture. Not to mention that many of the general animations look absolutely horrible; the walking animation of the female characters makes it look as if you are wearing 10 inch high heels and a handbag or something. The melee combat seems somewhat inconsistent as the attack collisions with the hitboxes can't be trusted.
#38 to #37 - aleksandurr (06/19/2014) [-]
its a lot better than it used to be, I didn't say it was perfect.

Dark souls can be played via trial and error but it also doesnt need to be.

The game isnt that hard i beat it as a lvl 1 and i have yet to beat Xcom on impossible ironman just to name another modern game. So i think there are much harder games available, personally speaking anyway.

I think that claiming that dark souls is trial and error is just incorrect though, I dont think Artorias, O&S, or Old king Allant from demon souls are trial and error. It takes work and practice sure, but just because you do the fight 10 times doesnt teach you some obscure technique that can just breeze the boss.
User avatar #30 to #18 - goodadventures (06/19/2014) [-]
Never had to do 1 boss fight 10 times or more before beating them, Artorias was very easy, generally you spend the first 1-3 fights learning the moveset of the enemy and by the 4-6 fight you'll have won.

Due to this I'd call it trial and error, and pretty repetitive.
#31 to #30 - bobbysnobby (06/19/2014) [-]
I dont know how to respond. Im not impressed by your ease in clearing different bosses and Repetitive is odd because a lot of the bosses are very different mechanically speaking.

Learning a moveset of a boss does not equate to trail and error, or literally every game would be trial and error, you figure out what works and what doesnt and change your strategy until something works. Its a basic attribute of video games or games in general.

I cannot think of any game which has any level of difficulty and doesnt have that attribute. A good example of trial and error gameplay is the Board Game Mastermind or battleship.

No, just no.
That's like calling a book "trial and error" because some of the dialogue was in a smaller print. "I had to look closer and sometimes reread it. Must be trial and error process."

Darks Souls has so many obvious traps and the AI is pretty chill. I don't know why people have such a hard time playing this retextured Zelda game called 'Dark Souls'.
