I've never understood Talimancers. What on earth is so special about her?
#21 to #18 - ghettoham (11/13/2013) [-]
She's just SOOOOOO cute! The way she's all shy and fidgety but how she pushes herself to actually speak to Shepard about it. That, and dem massive Quarian hips and bums... i've always considered myself a boobs kinda guy but daaaaymn, those hips are killer.

Mass Effect 2 - All romance scene with Tali

She is the most human character in the game. She possesses real emotion and character. She isn't just some Plot they threw in there and designed to be perfect.
User avatar #25 to #23 - hudis ONLINE (11/13/2013) [-]
Not sure if I agree that she is the most human character, but she definitely has depth that is unusual for game characters. Either way, I've never really seen the appeal at all, but I am more drawn to authorative and morally complex characters, so that may be it. Far as attraction goes (which I know is a contributing factor for some talimancers), I'm more an older-women type of guy, so I don't see the appeal there either.
User avatar #26 to #25 - loganhusted (11/13/2013) [-]
Who are these moral complex characters you speak of? and how is tali not one of them.

Favorite characters of mine from the series are as follows by the way.

Garus
Mordin
Tali
Thane
Wrex
User avatar #135 to #26 - processing (11/14/2013) [-]
Tali was my favourite but the others I thought also had deep and complex personalities.
I cried when Legion and Thane died
User avatar #28 to #26 - hudis ONLINE (11/13/2013) [-]
Mordin and Samara, primarily. Their decisive and somewhat zealous nature combined with the constant inner doubt following them but not quite crippling them intrigues me. Mordin's doubt is on the surface, re: the genophage and so on, but Samara's is more subtle and more noticable in how she delays to take action on certain things (like her daughters) and how her path of justice occasionally seems to have more to do with guilt and emotion than her code.

I guess I don't feel Tali is as morally complex because she is more there for those who devote themselves to her. That's where she shines, because she is a strong character on a social level, i.e. if you choose to develop a close friendship or romance with her, but to me it's like she isn't even there the times I have chosen not to indulge her. At the risk of getting thumbed down by Tali-fans passing by, I just think she is a bit bland and repetitive.
User avatar #31 to #28 - loganhusted (11/13/2013) [-]
I understand mordin. he is one of my top characters right behind Garus but I never really lied Samara. She just seemed so bland and cookie cutter. Kind of like Kaiden, Ashley, Maranda, and Jacob.

I just think that Tali brings everything together. She has depth of character, she has good Character progression through out the series. Better than Samara.

Also I forgot to Add legion in behind Tali and In front of Thane.
User avatar #32 to #31 - hudis ONLINE (11/13/2013) [-]
Samara is incredibly guarded, I think that's why she may seem bland and cookie cutter. For me she is a lot more interesting because I have done a lot of roleplay where I have played such characters (stoic, code-bound, religious, unyielding, guarded, reserved, etc) so I have invested a lot of thought into trying to figure out what's beneath the surface of Samara rather than what is plain to see.
User avatar #34 to #32 - loganhusted (11/13/2013) [-]
I always played based on the decisions I would make. I also played on a time frame for conversations. I wouldn't sit and think about all the outcomes. I made decisions in the moment and then lived with those decisions. I guess that is why Samara didn't appeal to me. While I appreciate what they did with her character it just didn't engage me.
User avatar #37 to #34 - hudis ONLINE (11/13/2013) [-]
Hm, alright. I play a bit differently in RPGs. I generally think of a character concept that fits Shepard's role and then go through with it for the duration of the game(s). Doesn't mean I have to sit and think, of course, just means I make decisions as if I was someone else.
User avatar #19 to #17 - ragnarfag (11/13/2013) [-]
I always tried to play different and end up with 4 saves of basically the same character

That's nothing. I've got like 3 or 4 different saves on ME2 and ME3 and it's not just I think what you do, but I also think "let's put different characters on my team" which is 100% of times formed by Garrus and Tali (except when they force me to choose someone else or I don't have them at that moment) because I just can't choose anyone else. I can't take neither Garrus nor Tali out because I get so much into the story I consider them as my best friend and my crush respectively and I feel too attached to them.

I'm a sad, sad person.
User avatar #79 to #39 - nigeltheoutlaw (11/14/2013) [-]
First game for me was Wrex and Tali, but ME2 and ME3 are always Garrus and Tali. They're just a kickass duo.
User avatar #143 to #79 - arandomanon ONLINE (11/14/2013) [-]
Exactly my case. I started with Wrex and Tali because my first character was the sniper with technology stuff (don't remember the name, but it's the equivalent to Garrus) but when I replayed it I chose an engineer and since then I always main engineers. And since I changed my character, I decided that I still needed a sniper and that's when Garrus started to come with me. And that was when I saw that nothing could stop me for too long with Garrus and Tali on my team.
User avatar #47 to #39 - ghettoham (11/13/2013) [-]
Tali and Garrus all the way. I always take them as well. Best squadmates by far... although Liara is a sweetie as well.
User avatar #57 to #47 - arandomanon ONLINE (11/13/2013) [-]
Indeed. My main character is an engineer and I still love using Tali on my team because there's only something worse than one engineer and it's 2. Tali with shotgun, Garrus sniper and I'm with the assault rifle. I don't really need biotic stuff.
#106 to #17 - trollolololgabe (11/14/2013) [-]
Ick...no offense dude but I see Tali as the least attractive Romance, even below Garrus lol (and I know this is just an opinion so don't bash me please) She just seems wayyyy to weird. So heres why I dont like Tali
1. Quarians are assholes. Seriously the Geth have every right to be pissed at the Quarians and even wipe them off the face of the Galaxy because the Quarians are the closest thing to genocidal Nazis in Mass Effect (other than the reapers of course)
2. You never see her face and you cant touch her in any of the games so a relationship seems kinda strange.
3. Quarians are gypsies
4. She gets drunk constantly probably as a way to compensate for her lack of self confidence.
5. The cutscene where she sings made my ears bleed.
Response? Why do you like her?
On the other hand Liara I think is more well-rounded in more ways than just character. Also who wouldn't tap Miranda in the 2nd one?
User avatar #132 to #106 - ghettoham (11/14/2013) [-]
1. I never said i liked the Quarians as a species, just Tali. The Quarian generals are ******* morons and i prefer the Geth.

2. Her mysticism is attractive. And her body language and shape are gorgeous.

3. See point 1

4. Depends what you're into really.

5. I thought it was really funny.

Liara is cute and i like her, but i'll always take Tali over her.

User avatar #66 to #17 - TheHutchie (11/13/2013) [-]
Apparently it's common. If I were really Shep, it'd be Tali all the way. It's her personality, she's just so darn cute and nice.

However, I never did regret romancing Jack. For sheer sex appeal (in ME3), Jack would get the D. A lot.
User avatar #67 to #66 - ghettoham (11/13/2013) [-]
Really? Personally i can't stand Jack, i do not understand her appeal. Each to their own i suppose. But Tali, absolutely.
User avatar #71 to #67 - TheHutchie (11/14/2013) [-]
In real life, I've often found that I have a knack for cracking open a person's outer shell, be it bitchy, aggressive, detached, whatever, and getting them to open up to me. I think it links to that, because Jack's a total cunt when you first meet her, but if you put in some time with her, she's actually a really nice person underneath... albeit in a unique way.

That, and once I saw how she looked in ME3 my jaw just dropped. I don't usually go for tattoos or partially shaved heads, but I'll be damned if she's not a worthy exception.
User avatar #73 to #71 - TheHutchie (11/14/2013) [-]
Actually, now that you've got me thinking about it, I'm not actually sure what I like about her so much. Something about her attitude maybe? She doesn't take anyone's **** , which is a welcome change from the girls I always end up with in reality. Maybe the appeal is that I don't understand the appeal.

Maybe reading this is making people think that I have some underlying psychological issues.
User avatar #78 to #17 - nigeltheoutlaw (11/14/2013) [-]
Are you me? It took me three saves before I finally had the strength to break away, and all I came away with in the end was a feeling of disappointment that it wasn't Tali.

Tali is my hot hot sex. I'd romanced her every time i could, but then I accidentally made Tali kill herself. Haven't played ME3 since.

No, that's not true. I murdered her. She was my virtual everything, but when it came down to the fate of the galaxy, I made a rash decision. I chose the Geth. And in that choice, I made my love suffer the worst fate a person could feel. I made her watch the destruction, no, the genocide of her species. I took everything from a girl that just wanted to go home. I'll never love again (in mass effect).

I'd buy the game if:
1. I lived on my own. I don't think my parents would approve of me getting a game where you can screw aliens, especially since my sister could get her hands on it, and
2. I hadn't heard the ending made players rage with the fury of a thousand suns. I looked it up. And it was rage-y.
