You know one of the things that kills me the most lately to think about. Its the fact that the business man is not investing in the industry that is starting to really boom.
Lets just say global warming is a pile of **** completely. One of the old CEO's of GE Jack Walsh is a very smart man who somehow does not believe global warming is controlled by man at all. However he has stated that we should invest in clean energy anyways because it is what the market wants.
If you have not read "Control Your Destiny or Someone Else Will" by Noel Tichy I would strongly recommend it.
China is starting to invest into clean energy heavily. We are gonna fall behind China and let them reap all the benefits? Where is the brilliant business thought here?
You invest in the winners in business. Clean energy is growing big and that is even without considering Chinas investment. Trumps moves do not seem to match that of a great businessman. If I were more of a conspiracy guy I would say that Trump is in the pockets of dirty energy. However I am gonna just say maybe he is really stuck in the past and is not following the money anymore.
Now that I said that we can then pile on the Global warming argument and it becomes much worse.
I dunno it just seems like bad business.

China also heavily invests in newer Nuclear tech. It's a pretty one sided argument you're making.

First off I am stealing that gif.
2 points here
1. Of course they are but keep in mind that it does not in any way change the point that green is booming and is smart to invest in. Also if you recall nuclear energy was not one of the big factors for Trump but shale, oil, and natural gas reserves were. Either way China is pushing big into clean still. We are jumping from clean into dirty only. It is not that we drop all dirty energy but it is about investing in the booming growth of clean energy while we can still be an early adopter.
2. Not sure if you looked into nuclear energy recently but there have been some really interesting developments that make it seem pretty feasible. China is also ahead of the curve on this one as well.
So sure China has nuclear energy
which is a different beast than it used to be and is not a carbon producer
but is investing very heavily in clean energy as well.
We on the other hand are leaving the booming clean energy for shale, oil, and natural gas reserves. While things have improved for those fields they are nowhere near as clean and nothing about the industry is booming as much as the clean energy.
We are risking tossing away early entrance into clean energy which is having huge growth. What other industries China invests in is not really changing the fact that clean is big and worth investing into. I am not here to say that China is doing good or bad anywhere else but am stating how if China is joining the field with that population it seems sensible to get a piece of that pie while there is still some left.
Take advantage of this massively growing industry while we can. Its just good business.

Yeah I know, I read a lot into Gen 3 & 4 rector types, many of them sound very promising.
Russia has just added the bn-800, a sodium cooled fast breeder, to their grid. China is on it as well.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BN-800_reactor
My point was, the left and green fractions tend to ignore this a viable alternative to gas / coal / oil, although you're right I never heard Trump talking about Nuclear either.
Maybe it's just not his highest priority yet?

Oooh that is pretty cool I am gonna have to research that reactor specifically.
And sure and I am not disregarding using shale, oil, and natural gas reserves at all, however if you have to focus more of your investment in one direction it is the good business decision to invest as much as you can into the big grower. Clean energy is not likely a bubble unless global warming is disproved
even then there is air quality concerns though for China I know.
.
As far as it not being his priority that is my main concern that I have been talking about. When you are a businessman and are faced with an older industry that people are trying to move away from and an industry that people are diving into and is showing great growth, the main priority should be the booming industry. The longer you wait the more you miss out on. Early mover advantage is always nice.
That is not to say you ignore shale, oil, and natural gas reserves. The thing with Trump is that he is treating shale, oil, and natural gas reserves as if they were the better industry to invest in and looking at the movement of countries towards clean right now should not lead even a normal person to the conclusion that shale, oil, and natural gas reserves should be the focus let alone a man who people kept telling me would be great because he is a businessman.
One of my degrees is business and I love it and when I talk to any of my peers we cannot explain this decision without saying he is dirty, or he is just stubborn and stuck back in the 80's
it would fit considering his talk of cutting beurocratic levels so much which was a big thing in the 80's
.
It just doesn't seem to be smart from a business standpoint alone. If there was no global warming clean would still be the wise move if that is what the market wants. The supply must meet the demand and demand is growing rapidly.

He seems pretty single-tracked yeah. You don't need to abandon this just to pump up coal and the pipeline. Then again shoulda expected that from his shows/book
or the primaries
, pick a path and bulldoze it.

Oh long before he was elected I was voicing my complaints about it. Thing is though I was hoping for an advisor to stand up and mention this.
From what I understood Trump was good at hiring solid people but where are the people pointing these things out to him. Honestly this is so basic that he should need nobody to tell him this.

Hiring "good people" isn't hiring your family members or big businessmen, anyway it seems the White House has a shakeup every month shuffling staff around.

Well I was getting at the fact that in his career he has definitely shown traits of hiring people that have helped him succeed in the business world.
When he won I was hoping to god this would be the case but i am severely disappointed.
