Dave Grohl Is Awesome

s people trading music, '
It has nothing to do with industry or finalised,
it' s just people that want music
and there' s nothing wrong with that,
It' s the same as someone turning on .,' l
the f* ckin radio, it' s the same as someine'
putting a cassette in a cas' sette' "deck
when the BBC plays a special ' stii: recession.
I don' t think it' s herione,.. been going on
for. yearsold' s the same” as "people making
tapes for each other. the industry is more
threatened by it because it' s the worldwide
web and it' s a broader scope of trading,
but I don' t think it' s such a f* ckin horrible
thing, The first thing we should do is get
all the f* ckin millionaires to shut their mouths,
and stop bitching about the

But after millions of unpaid downloads you loose A LOT of money. So I can see why they're mad. At the same time, a new album that costs $20??? Mark it down and adapt with the internet in order to make revenue (for example, Spotify is a great idea).
User avatar #26 to #5 - biggieboy (07/29/2012) [-]
How I look at it, take the price down a little, but maybe add some extra's (a poster, leaflet with lyrics, whatever), things you couldn't download.

Honestly, people will pay for good music. I think it was radiohead (not certain, should probably look it up) who put their new album on their website and told people they could pay whatever they wanted. They ended up making two million dollars in two weeks. All of it went into their pockets rather than cuts going to itunes, producers, etc.

The industry doesn't really need anymore money. They run the world already. Personally, the only music I pay for is when the artist comes from an independent label/YouTube (Luke Conard, Alex Goot, Tiffany Alvord, Chad Sugg, etc.), because it DOES actually help them out

I think it's ok to pirate music from the ones who are millionaires, they already have more than most people make in their life. But then again, those people usually have **** music so why would i download that?

Most of the music i listen to is free and the artists are funded by donations from their fans, the way i think it should be.

No way, me too!

I pirate everything and at last count had 50 gigs of music. I don't try to justify it by saying it's sharing, I know I'm stealing but I just like free **** .

I have fulled up like 550 gig of shows and music movies etc - waiting to buy a 2 tb drive to download more xD
#47 to #45 - savvz (07/29/2012) [-]
I managed to fill a TB hard drive completely with TV shows and movies before I started watching everything online.

If you're getting an external drive, use Western Digital. They aren't the fastest but by my experience they're the most reliable.
User avatar #48 to #47 - yourmummy (07/29/2012) [-]
yeah both of mine are atm but im planning on putting this one inside the case the external one is really just a big usb when sharing a few shows with friends.

The only reason i pirate some games is cause i cant actually buy it online. And music cause its music
User avatar #44 to #42 - icefried (07/29/2012) [-]
Same. However i do make exceptions on ******* awesome things.
Didn't think twice about buying Skyrim for example... or something that is dirt cheap like every GTA game for $9.
Gonna buy dark souls for pc too.
People who make good stuff deserve a donation...

I pirate a lot of my music, but mostly because my favorite bands' albums aren't available (the ones that I want aren't, anyway). But I've never pirated a game or show, and I never will.

I sometimes pirate games. Usually it's games that i already own on a console. For example when i travel i can play Skyrim on my laptop. Valve don't mind this. If you buy Portal 2 for PS3 then you log onto Steam via PS3 and get Portal 2 on your computer too.

My policy: I pirate games & music & movies, but if I really like them, I'll honor the publisher/band/studio by buying the legit stuff

Just like I did with Withcer 2. 40% OFF ON STEAM, **** YEAH!

foo fighters are just one of those bands that you cant hate. Despite his use of vulgarity in everything, he is actually an incredible guy. knowing that there are people in the music industry like him who actually care about their fans is comforting.

i don't care for piracy, but i dont see harm in pirating big bands music, although it sickens me when people pirate local bands music.

What is wrong with anon? Would creating an account make me any more of a human than I am now? I do not believe so.
Should we not respect anyone who isn't blue?

Yes. We should.

I think I have something like 8000 songs on my Itunes.

And it's something like 0.99cts for one song in the legal stores.

So if I had legally bought all the music I have for the moment, I would have spent 8000 dollars in music. Yep, that's the legal price if you want to discover some cool bands, hear some new sounds. I mean I can't live without music, it's all my life, but I simply can't pay 8000 dollars for it. It's just impossible for me. Music is a feeling, a creation and it's supposed to be share with people, that's the spirit of music. With music, the money doesn't matter, it's just not the point of it ! I'm not saying that bands should play for free or some hippie **** like that, i'm just saying that nowadays music is way to expensive for the most of people.

So yeah, there's a problem here. And I think Kim Dotcom had a great issue with his concept of free music download, but with publicity. The publicity pays the band, and you can listen to music for free (Well maybe you'll have to watch some ****** adds but at least you won't pay 8000 dollars) (Sorry for my bad english, I hope this comment was understandable for you people)

I'm pretty sure Dave says stuff like this because Kurt Cobain isn't around to do it.

I rarely pirate music myself. I'll do it the odd time if I'm interested in checking out a cd that i know i'll never find in shops. But I really do enjoy collecting albums. It's nice to own the finished product. Heck I even buy the odd vinyl one that shows up just to add to my collection.

To be fair though a lot of musicians, at least the ones that I listen to don't care if their music is shared. They just want people to listen to it.
