User avatar #31 - dustyshane (12/11/2012) [-]
So if weed becomes legal drunks stop being a problem?
User avatar #52 to #31 - joens (12/11/2012) [-]
It will decrease once a new generation is born into a world where weed is legal
User avatar #124 to #52 - dustyshane (12/11/2012) [-]
I kinda of doubt that.

User avatar #128 to #69 - Seventeen (12/11/2012) [-]
or a group of drunk biscuits fighting over weed!
User avatar #87 - Loon (12/11/2012) [-]
Or a bunch of drunk stoners looking to fight some biscuits?
#17 - benharper (12/11/2012) [-]
That is kind of assuming that all drunks are looking for a fight. Whenever I'm drunk if I see new people I just want to make friends with them
#50 to #17 - anon (12/11/2012) [-]
But not all stoners are looking for biscuits

I couldn't care if weed gets legalized in my country or not, I'm fairly neutral on the subject, but why do people care so much about weed being legalized?
I could walk into my school bathroom at a certain hour and walk out a minute later with a bag of weed, it's not like you're "fighting" for a hard to get substance.
If it got legalized, you'd probably be paying more because it would include tax.
Sure, if you get caught with weed, depending on where you live, you'll get a fine or whatever.

I honestly feel that if it were legalized it'd be worse for those who use it than if it remains illegal.
Although, that's just my two cents.
Anyone wanna inform me on this?

the government would only put a tax on it is because they would try to gain some revenue on it. otherwise, the government is ****** .
User avatar #96 to #79 - habibizee (12/11/2012) [-]
I'd rather have weed be decriminalized than legal. That way the government wouldn't have total control over prices and whatnot.
User avatar #89 to #79 - infinitereaper (12/11/2012) [-]
I'll stick with my natural drug argument. I think stuff like shrooms and opium should be legal. First of all the gov/medical industry has a monopoly on opiates and pain killers, making their pills outrageously expensive for those who really need it. If you could grow your own you could take care of yourself. Price is a matter of variable. If it becomes a controlled substance thats heavily taxed of course it will go up in price, just how much is the question. Needless to say, if the price/cost increases 10-20% it would be a worthy trade for not having to deal with the legal hassle/risk.
User avatar #90 to #89 - aesis (12/11/2012) [-]
I suppose that's one of looking at it.

Just a thought though, what will the growers do? Would they not try get their hands on ways of creating other drugs which are worse than weed and end up distributing them, making them easier to obtain?
Of course, that's just a scenario, it actually seems rather likely, but what would the growers most likely do, especially if they've been living off what they've been doing for a few years?
User avatar #92 to #90 - infinitereaper (12/11/2012) [-]
Well I think the best case scenario is this:
Substance A,B,C are legalized for personal consumption.
Companies/government aren't allowed to sell and neither are individual people.

Now this will create a scenario where the black market still exists (Because of course not everyone wants the hassle of growing poppy pods, difficult mushrooms, or cannabis) but prices should be relatively the same, hell they might even go down with more growers who don't have to worry about the law. We keep the penalties for getting caught insignificant for these growers or rather turn a blind eye, but we keep very strict on corporations. (because we all know what happens when corporations come into the mix)

This pseudo hybrid of law and black market policy would likely fix everyone's problems. However, I do think most governments lack the sense (especially the U.S. to the point it makes me sick) to actually be competent enough to use it.
User avatar #97 to #92 - aesis (12/11/2012) [-]
Very indepth point, and well thought out one.

The likelihood is that most governments would probably tax it to the point where people would much rather just go to the black market. Like you said 10%-20% wouldn't be bad, but most countries right now are trying to rebuild their economies, which means they'll tax the **** out of everything.
Right now in Ireland we're getting hit with about 3 new taxes at once plus increased inflation, I could only image what they'd do to drugs.

Truth be told though, there would be people who would start campaigning for other drugs to be legalised, let's not forget that or disregard it as a false argument, and this would be an issue.

I honestly have no trouble with weed, a lot of my friends do it, I've done it once, didn't enjoy it though, and the only way I believe it can be dangerous is if it's indirectly the cause of a death or injury. Although, I really can see where governments are coming from when they say they don't want it legalised.
User avatar #102 to #97 - infinitereaper (12/11/2012) [-]
To be honest everything comes with risk, however, most people are utterly unaware of risk they already live with.

For example, Advil can kill you and it can burn a whole in your throat. Ibuprofen can cause internal bleeding. Anti depressants are soul killers with a mirage of risks. Most prescriptions cause organ damage in the longer run. Hell, even antibiotics can cause heart damage if you don't follow the regimen.

What I've offered (3 things) are much much much safer than Vicodin, bath salts, or synthetic weed.

Sure people might campaign but they are ********* . I don't care what you say, 5 years of Meth will destroy you. 5 years of opium (Not very well recorded) will leave you looking tired and pale at worst, but of course that depends if you use moderately or excessively.
User avatar #94 to #92 - infinitereaper (12/11/2012) [-]
At any rate, the most dangerous of drugs will still circulate. Usually man-made or synthetic, we keep very strict and hostile on those, and offer the above safer alternatives. In most cases, when a country legalizes a drug it reduces crime, price, and even drug use. This is a sort of compromise.

Drunks. Drunks can't fight for **** , and stoners never look for biscuits where I'm at. They just always beg for cash so they can get a a couple more grams. I wish I was assuming, but they just tell you straight up they want more weed. And I ain't given no cash.

I could care less about Weed. If it is legalized, awesome. If not, I couldn't give two ***** .
However, there was something that happened at university that made it very obvious to me. Story time bitches.

Kid is underage at the bars, way too ****** up. Cops start talking to the kid just to tell him to calm down. Fight breaks out across the street, cops go break up the fight. Kid is left there, hops in the cop car (New Charger, not old crown vic) and drives all the way across campus with the siren on to a frat. Climbs out of the car and asks the frat if they like his frat, then he runs off. Cops find him passed out on the side of the road. When was the last time someone baked did something like that? I've never heard of it.
