So what do people think is best, Skyrim Or Oblivion? Go.

Gothic 1&2, a great storyline, combat system, interesting characters with backstories and get you hooked on to the game. Oblivion and skyrim are just huge worlds with no interesting storyline or characters. The combat in oblivion is ridiculous, it requires no skill what so ever, just random hacking.

they dumbed it down even more
I liked the morrowing costumisation, you had to get both boots, pauldrons, gloves, chestpiece, legs, you could wear belts, rings, necklaces, skirts, and shirts over and under your armour
now, you just need 4 pieces of armour and you're done

and the leveled world can be good, and it can be **** , they were badly done in both, eventually you become a god

I choose Gothic 3 with the last player-made update

Without mods, I had more fun with skyrim. The leveling system was just broken in oblivion and even though the world in oblivion was bigger, it didn't feel as open and epic.

Played both, Skyrim is the more polished one and had fewer bugs, but anyway neither of them have NPC-s that have proper backstories and character design. That's why i preffer to play Gothic 1 and 2 (those are still masterpieces).

you know, I got gothic 3 when I was young, I still play trough it every few months
and one day I found gothic 2 + night of the raven, and I thought it would be as awesome
but holy **** that combat system is weird, and you can barely even kill a rat when you start
I gave up pretty quick, tried again a month later, failed again, it took me like 4-5 tries to actually get out of the city and get the hang of the game even though I still don't know how the combat works

the combat works in several mooves that are unlocked as your melee skills progress.
you have to time your clicks so you can preform a combat animation and hit your opponents. the animations also allow for well timed dodging. it's just a more rewarding combat system. try playing Risen 1. it's basically the same game as Gothic 2 only with better graphics than Gothic 3.

I "tried" playing risen 1 and 2
you can't just assume I haven't played a game made by the same developers as gothic 3

oh okay then. risen 2 is **** tho compared even to the initial release of gothic 3. the graphic is good but the whole storyline is just one huge fetch-quest. i liked about 3 locations in the whole game but got through them in like 5 minutes. risen 1 had better combat mechanics, a better story and definetley more quests and sidequests that make it worthwile playing.

Just.... no.

It's really a matter of opinion. I haven't played Oblivion, and I thought Dark Souls was better than Skyrim.

Demon Souls is the real deal.

Oblivion was better than Skyrim if both of them came out at the same time, but just cause Oblivion is more older people go for Skyrim. I think Oblivion is better btw.

I have never played morrowind. Any good?
User avatar #98 to #95 - fuzzyballs (01/30/2013) [-]
here's a tip for you
don't ever go down, go up
I played oblivion before I saw gothic in a bargain bin, I only got "far" once, and I tried like 10 new games
the combat is just "stand still and swing" hoping you'll hit something
story-wise? great
journal-wise? **** , it just gives you 1 book that writes down everything that happens, and so you have to read through 5 pages to find where you left off

I meant to type morrowind, not gothic
my bad
