Oh the frail wooden chest that is probably rotted away in
this damp dingy cave for a millennium is looked? Why
doesn' t the almighty dragonborn get down on his
hands and knees and fiddle with the rusty look for an hour
instead of using the ******* enchanted he got
from the depths of hell to smash it the **** open.

There's a mod for that.

I would find it for you, but I'm too lazy. Find it yourself.

I once used 25 lockpicks and a long time to open a master level chest when i first started the game, guess what i found in there? A rare weapon? money? ingots?
A fork.
A single, ******* FORK.
#22 to #9 - anon (11/06/2013) [-]
you can shank people with forks
being srs
User avatar #38 to #22 - Zaxplab (11/06/2013) [-]
Well, there's about two different knives and forks in the vanilla that can be used as a weapon.

It's kind of fun to attack skeletons with them, instead of them just getting smashed into pieces in one hit.

When reality says "Fork You"

User avatar #43 to #9 - levelninetynine (11/06/2013) [-]
Probably because you forked around with it for so long.

I'm pretty sure damp clothes and 4 coins can survive a hammer blow.
User avatar #45 to #8 - bigbaddrag (11/06/2013) [-]
but for all he knows, there could be a very valuable, fragile object inside
User avatar #51 to #45 - jakols ONLINE (11/06/2013) [-]
well... unless he collects china and porcelain and perhaps hope that someone hid some in this century old chest, i don't think there is too much to damage

I have a conservative mod count on Skyrim at 233 and still stable. It's practically an entirely new game at this point.

User avatar #12 - oneguy ONLINE (11/06/2013) [-]
There's a game that lets you do that, though I don't remember what it is. You can either pick the lock or smash the chest, but if you smash it, about half the stuff gets broken.

User avatar #29 to #19 - ivoryhammer (11/06/2013) [-]
You can bash stuff in KoToR1, but stuff doesn't get damaged, that's just in 2.

>go to Dawn star and raid invisible chest for stuff
>run back to the kitty people wait 4 days and run back to get refilled chest
>Grinding on selling items like an Uberjew
>always Keep the lock picks out of habit from oblivion
>turned out i had 560+ picks turning master skill locks into a teeth grinding minigame
>The lockpick skill tree was a waste of the programmers time
User avatar #25 to #11 - sirbutterballs (11/06/2013) [-]
I prefer it over oblivion. God that **** was more intense than the combat.
#86 to #11 - anon (11/19/2013) [-]
Even without exploiting hidden merchant storage, you get a lockpick off of like, every four things you kill. Lockpicking is absurdly easy.

Sell half of my lockpicks every so often, still never need lockpick skill tree.
#50 - FatherPedobear (11/06/2013) [-]
There's a mod for this, and about 400242 other things.

So I got bored of skyrim after playing it for a while and when I went to college this year I didn't bring my console or the game and I was wondering If it would be worth it to spend the $60 bucks to download it

Because, if they did that, people would be complaining that bashing the chest open breaks some of the **** inside.

Gamer logic: Impossible to predict and impossible to satisfy.
#89 to #87 - argoniansrule (02/10/2014) [-]
if they made it break the **** inside, people will complain because "I might have wanted that!" and if you don't then people will complain because "It's not realistic!" no one wins, everyone loses, don't bother
User avatar #84 - Crusader (11/18/2013) [-]
They should allow you to bash open containers at the cost of some of the more fragile pieces inside, like in KotOR II
