poor guy please help. I saw this man walking down the road in Seymour just now carrying this sign. He's desperately looking for his daughter. She's been missing

I saw this man walking down the road in Seymour just now carrying this sign. He's desperately looking for his daughter. She's been missing for 6 days. He said he didn't have the money to run a missing persons ad in the paper so this is the route he's taking. Walking with a sign. I told him I'd do all I could to help him find her so here. funnyjunk do your part and spread this all over..

As stated in the description, it was "down the road in Seymour". Seymour is in Victoria, Australia.

Seeing as it's in English and the date is written m/d/year it's probably in America. And searching 865 in front of the number reveals it's Tennessee, Knox County or the 8 around it.

That's where I'm from. When I read Seymour I was kinda like "huh". Figured it wasn't the one here. Somehow it makes me feel more sad.

I filed a missing persons report with an agency...I hope this gets solved. I would feel terrified if I had a daughter that was missing.
User avatar #99 to #97 - hopeadope (08/20/2013) [-]
That would be horrible. I don't have a child of my own but every time I'm in a grocery store and i pass the "missing children" wall I try to stop and check it for a bit. I try to think of it like that's my little brother on there and how I'd do anything to find him. The thought scares me more than anything in the world
User avatar #101 to #99 - idntnoausername (08/20/2013) [-]
I can relate cause when I was younger, I was stupid as **** and would constantly walk off from my parents everywhere. Including the state fair of Texas and concerts. Which usually has about what seems like over a million people there. So I would get lost. I know what it's like. It sucks ass..
User avatar #103 to #101 - hopeadope (08/20/2013) [-]
Thank God I've never gotten lost before, but when I was a baby some lady (we believe) tried to kidnap me from my stroller. Kept asking my mom if she could hold me and was trying to get me out of it no matter what my parents were saying. I can't even imagine if she actually had.
User avatar #104 to #103 - idntnoausername (08/20/2013) [-]
You're lucky you had parents that were smart enough and cared not to let something like that happen.
User avatar #106 to #104 - hopeadope (08/20/2013) [-]
Oh yeah, they were pretty protective over me, they had several boys and I was their only girl, so pretty much everyone in the family was. Looking back, I'm super grateful for it.

I can empathize with this poor mans terror, my younger brother 6y/o went missing for 7 days, the first day was sheer terror, and the next were hopeless sorrow. The worst feeling in this world is looking for their corpse in a field, watching your father carry in your mother who is so grief stricken that she cannot stand. I've never seen my father cry, but that one time. Fortunately for us after 1 week we get a call, from a man who claimed my brother was at his house. APPARANTLY after he got off the bus, he went to his friends house to play video games and stayed over there for a few days, the father came to our house to bring my brother home, and when he got there the police had him on the ground guns drawn (poor guy). Anybody who made fun of this man are not funny not even to the sick and twisted internet dwellers, he cannot even afford the amber alert to find his own child. Any body with half a heart should feel the greatest sympathy for this man. My prayers are with him.
User avatar #348 to #323 - captainoptimist (08/20/2013) [-]
He went to a friend's house. For a few days? And...the friends parents didn't call your parents? Your parents didn't call every single person they knew - namely his friends - to see if he was there. Your 6 year old brother thought it was totally ok to stay away from home for a week without telling anyone?

There is so much wrong with this scenario I don't even know where to begin.
#408 to #348 - anon (08/21/2013) [-]
Yes, Yes, No, No my parents didn't know them, Yes he was six he had no clue it was wrong, and frankly my dear I don't give a damn if the scenario seems strange to you, it was terrifying for me and my family. But that's not the point. The point is that this poor guys daughter, his own flesh and blood, is missing and he may never see her again. Do you know how that feels? How it feels to think that your loved one may be in agonizing pain at the hands of some psycho, and there is nothing you can do to help them? To feel at this very moments they are begging you to come save them, and all you can do Is cry uncontrollably because you failed them? It hurts PHYSICALLY, it hurts bad, and no matter what you do, you may never get to hug them and tell them how much you love them. Hurt for this man, and do what you can, unfortunately i'm in Poland for business, and can only pray for them.
#58 - anon (08/20/2013) [-]
It's always sad to see missing person signs. They're either dead or abducted. Both are terrible. It's ****** up that there are people who hold others against their will and still have no remorse.

Amber Alerts usually don't work.
#202 to #24 - nebraskaom (08/20/2013) [-]
Amber alerts usually don't work because children missing are usually never found or are dead. However they and the police are better than walking around with a sign.
But seeing as people have said this is going around facebook and **** , I'm assuming those have already been tried and this is just a dad doing everything he can to get his kid back.
#342 to #202 - anon (08/20/2013) [-]
Not everyone watches the news, He is just trying to reach as any people as possible, cut him some slack.
#409 to #202 - FormerAnonAssassin (08/21/2013) [-]
They usually don't work because the majority of missing children cases are due to being taken by a parent who lost a custody battle, so in most cases the child was never in any danger, or because by the time an Amber Alert is sent out and the child is taken by a genuinely dangerous individual, the child is already dead.
User avatar #22 to #15 - Faz (08/20/2013) [-]

Suicide is for wussies.

Man up and conquer your fear.

Be happy to be alive and feel the full spectrum of pain and joy.
User avatar #159 to #133 - articulate (08/20/2013) [-]
Yeah, it doesn't work that way.

Telling someone to just "be happy" isn't going make them magically snap out of depression and suddenly be happy.
#253 to #159 - swagbot (08/20/2013) [-]
Notice i didn't say "BEEE HAPPEEE!!!"

You're correct - that doesn't work.

I said "Man up and conquer your fear".

Conquer - to defeat. How do you defeat something?
By 1) Understanding what exactly it is, 2) Analyzing how it is subverting/conquering you, 3) conceiving of ways to break it, 4) Repeatedly testing those plans, using the methods that work and discarding the ones that don't.

The Key to solving depression is to Fearlessly Look Into It - whereupon you will discover its origins and the method of its operation, and in so doing, you will understand how to supplant and eliminate it.

If you do this correctly, in the end, you will still be alive and your depression will be defeated and gone.

#399 to #337 - swagbot (08/21/2013) [-]
Not Always... what?

Drugs help nothing. They trick your brain into thinking the pain isn't there, when it actually is.

Only solutions solve problems. PERIOD.
#407 to #399 - arstya (08/21/2013) [-]
Antidepressants do help with the things you can't fix that are causing depression.

And there could be a chemical deficiency in your brain that is causing the depression despite nothing being really wrong with your life. I do agree that you should always try to fix what's wrong though.
