D3 was such a failure compared to D2. I mean sure, if D3 came out like 5 years after D2 as it did now, it would have been adequate, but really, that much time spent on a game and we get this? **** you Blizzard.
User avatar #36 to #3 - nevolmon (02/18/2014) [-]
the simple answer is that they didn't spend that much time working on it, it is made on the starcraft 2 engine which was made long after the supposed diablo 3 development, diablo 3 was revived and probably only developed for a year or two.

Not hating on anyone that likes PoE, but I really hated the game. Art style was terrible, graphics were terrible. Combat was lackluster and boring, and I found it rather annoying and difficult to target/click on enemies. Incredibly frustrating. The drops all seemed "meh" to me. I have not played D3 so I don't know if it's better. I HAVE played Torchlight (both 1 and 2) and I can say TL2 is definitely better. Especially since it doesn't have the whole "mmo style" thing going on.

/opinion
User avatar #43 to #37 - tanstin (02/18/2014) [-]
Keep in mind, that PoE doesn't have nearly as much production funding, they're a pretty much indie company. Storyline was good imo. and the fact is, It's free. And I enjoy the combat very much, I find it more satisfying than lackluster, frankly It's better than Diablo III combat, and It isn't nearly as involved in grinding and pay to win.
User avatar #46 to #43 - hierophant (02/18/2014) [-]
Yes, yes, it is indie. However, TL2 is still better (in my opinion). I don't remember the storyline, so I can't make any judgement call on that, but yes, it is free. I don't remember the cash shop, so again, can't make a judgement call. I dunno, I feel like TL2 is better in every way and while it costs money, it's not that much. $20 normally, which is a good price for such a great game. And when it goes on sale, it's usually pretty cheap (I think $7ish?). All in all, I feel like TL2 is the better choice regardless.

this is something that pisses me off to no end, if you're going to make a game free i actually know very little about diablo, it may be f2p it may not be but im just speaking in generals here then make it 100% f2p ,except for things like hats in tf2 or skins in LoL of course, or if you want me to pay for the game then charge me for the game. Why do designers think its a good idea to say "ok you can play this game for free, but if you want any good gear without spending 5 years of your life grinding away then youre gonna have to make a donation, or buy the premium game" this may just be me but chances are that if im willing to sit through the download to play youre game i probably already heard good things about your game and are willing to pay for it, if not i would just pirate it. what i truly despise is when you have **** gear but the guy next to you decided to make a $50 donation and now has gear that could kill zeus. "but if he donated to them then he should be rewarded" yes you should but not in that way. premium servers that are more reliable, maybe being rewarded in game but by something you already had to work for like double xp for a certain amount of time, ******* hats just not being handed god gear or insta unlocking all classes/guns/items/what the **** ever

/end rant
pic related its my new bottle of butthurt cream that imma need after this

I don't get why it gets so much hate. D2 was pretty much the same thing, you'd rush up to hell chaos, and just do chaos runs and baal runs for gear and levels.
User avatar #7 to #4 - cormy (02/18/2014) [-]
though I haven't played D3, from what I can tell the difference wasn't so much in the gameplay as it was in the builds.
D2 apparently had a lot more versatility when it came to builds and it didn't just rely on pure damage and defense.
User avatar #22 to #7 - angelyouduhsexy (02/18/2014) [-]
That's true. I did like that about d2 better but i guess i just like the endless hack and slash aspect to the games.
#8 to #7 - ainise (02/18/2014) [-]
Diablo 2 had permanence to your build. If you wanted to be a bone throwing summoner who spews poison everywhere, you started at level 1, skilled the skills you wanted to use, and you WERE that poison spewing bone throwing summoner.

Diablo 3 you just level with the most efficient build, then change your everything for free at the level cap.

Also you had to play through the entire game 4 times, drops were tailored for the auction house, making it good items ludicrously rare. They also added in a monster power system - which made everything have a ******* of more life in return for more drops...making every fight a lot more tedious, and the only form of end-game was a RNGfest with 40 crappy items to 1 good one.

RoS is looking promising, just like LoD did. Blizzard always fails horribly on their first games and makes up for it with their expansions (LoD, brood war, burning crusade, etc.) They listen to their consumers, but only after ******* up royally at first.
User avatar #25 to #8 - angelyouduhsexy (02/18/2014) [-]
Ahh, see i never played classic d2 only LOD. It seems like majority of people who hated on the game didn't really explain why, so thank you . I do too hope ROS will be good, suppose to make it more like D2.

I was dissapointed in the game, but the expansions is making me interested, especially since they are removing the auction house and such.

People really put so many expectations into that game - when they realised it wasn't the perfect game they shamed it.

people seem to forget diablo 2 wasn't that good before it's second expansion.
honestly i think lots of people got their moneys worth considering it's a one time purchase i know i have more than 200 hours played which is far more than i usually spend on a 20 euros game.

Also i am sure diablo 3 will be awesome in 1 or 2 expansions people just need to be patient..

TLR - i think diablo 3 is as good as it was supposed to be

User avatar #52 to #26 - stebok (02/19/2014) [-]
Spent almost 10 years playing D2 and I was just as satisfied with D3. It really isn't as bad as people think it is.
User avatar #32 to #26 - animationhac ONLINE (02/18/2014) [-]
it was pretty bad considering I put more hours into d2 then d3. specially since there's nothing unique in D3 like D2 and even D1 (specializations, spec points, ect). Now its linear and drifted from what Diablo was. They give you what you need and tell you what do it (Dora The Explorer anyone?) after the play through I felt like I should be playing Barbie with how they hold your hand. This game was not a replayable game for me. I played it once and was horribly disappointed with how short and boring this game was. It lacked all the things D1 and D2 gave me and made me replay it a bazillion times and even recreating same character multiple times. Even the dungeons lacked luster compared to D1 (were you enter in the catacombs and you hear "Fresh Meat" the first time, holy **** was it gunna be an adventure).

TLDR: Diablo 3 is NOT as good as it was suppose to be. D1 and 2 didnt need expacs to be good as you claim D3 will.
