I miss the days when being a
Like the whole love and tolerance thing was not just a saying we ******* practiced that ****.
i hate that
has to mean something, i just like the show, i'm not going to change my entire lifestyle to fit around it and i'm not going to obsess about some show.
That's why I think Fluttershy is best pony. Never have I learned kindness from anyone or anything like I have from that quiet, little pony.
It's not a lost cause. Those who really took the ideals to heart haven't lost them and still practice them openly. Hell, I know I do and I know a lot of others do. It's just that with popularity comes the inevitable fan-fart that bronies have to deal with. For every person that plays Halo for it's compelling story and diverse gameplay choices there's a screaming 14 year old who thinks that HALO IS THE BEST AND COD SHOULD BURN IN HELL!
The good part about the
fandom though is that we're taught to love and tolerate so even if people hate us for being who we are, we can still love them back. The trick is figuring out who needs a bit of
in their life and who doesn't and a lot of people are still struggling with that too.
I'm just glad that
dom exists in the first place. For all the people who take it the wrong way, the people who're doing it right are a credit to the human race. (Not me though, nah, I'm a bit of an arsehole irl... I'm working on that. xD)
I guess it still means something. I love to see what we've accomplished, we kind of just threw a big "**** you" to all of the stereotypes. It is truly fascinating though, to see everyone like this. I'm into psychology and it makes you wonder why we all became this.
Same here. Personally... I just think it's because we are who we are. We've spent our whole lives being taught to be nice to other people to the point that it's a part of our conscience. I imagine most bronies who get the Love and Tolerance thing were already pretty nice guys because of it. However this is perhaps the first time when that lesson has been taught in a manner that is genuinely enjoyable.
Suddenly, it's fun to be nice to other people. It gives us an identity. We feel good about being nice to other people because we consider ourselves bronies and as bronies it is expected of us to behave in a certain way. Being kind became more than conscience, it became duty.
Unless what you meant about people liking the show? In which case I just gotta say that people don't like Sci-Fi. They don't like Fantasy or Romance or Action. What people like is good writing and MLP has it in spades. Sure, it's cheesy and so sugary that I'm now on insulin injections but that's all a part of it's biggest draw. It's innocent. Hell, it's because the show is so innocent that it makes it so much funnier when you spot things that come from material that is far from innocent. The cameos and the references are that much funnier because of the bizarre juxtapositioning.
Couldn't have said it better. Just the little references and what not, is what makes MLP, MLP. Maybe the people who hate the people for doing what they like have the real problems, not being taught kindness and what not.
I don't think they have a problem per-se. It's human nature to be defensive against something you don't understand. Here they have thousands of men acting outside of their gender roles whilst claiming it has no effect at all on their gender identity. This worries people. It makes them feel like their own gender identity is being compromised because people are claiming to be the same as them whilst liking MLP. Hence the conclusion they come to that these people 'MUST' be different in some respect. They do not want to be associated with MLP in any way because they are not in control of their gender identities.
They believe that being a man means such and such and MLP makes them feel threatened because it goes against what they believe is right. Hence they pull on whatever they can to distance themselves from bronies. They label them as deviants or faggots in an attempt to create a clear barrier between them and regular men rather than accepting that what they thought defined a man isn't exactly true. You could call it weak minded in a way.
However, that isn't the only reason. Some people just plain dislike the show and hell, I'm sure you can see why. It's an acquired taste to be certain.
There are some that are the opposite of what bronies try to be. People who are cruel and intolerant for the fun of it.
ing people and just attempting to make others upset. They don't need to hate the show, they just need to enjoy pissing people off.
There's more reasons but I'm limited in character count.
So, I don't think the 'Haters' have a problem because that's too general a term. There's just too much diversity to be blanketed under so vague a statement. I do think that some have problems, I think that others are just being human and I don't blame them for it.
Aww, yes. It is just human nature. But I can see humanity making a better turn when we start to see small things like this. It just goes to show that we are capable for change, sometimes it doesn't matter what narrow minded people say. As long us we have an open mind, anything is possible.
