She's the goddamn sun goddess. Not much more than that, she's a static character.

no, actually the show's never made one mention of her being divine in any aspect. That's just fan propaganda you're spewing there.

Even though they've never explicitly been referred to as gods (I have a feeling that hasbro would get into some kinda trouble if they started throwing theology around), you must admit that controlling celestial objects is at least a godlike power.

yeah, save for the fact that it was said that unicorns can do that too...ya know like they did back before celestia and luna ruled? Seriously, why do most fans confuse fanfiction for cannon stuff, it's really easy to keep track of what's true and what's not.

First of all, in this case the word is canon, not cannon. I know it's irrelevant to the debate but I've been noticing the mistake everywhere and it gets to me.

More importantly, I don't think anyone actually argues for Celestia's divinity to be canon, it's a kids show after all. But as a fanbase it's fun to play with these theories and to factor them into our own individual headcanons. I doubt the show will ever confirm things like princess molestia, or cupcakes pinkie or anything else like that. But that doesn't give you a reason to go around acting all disdainful because other people's headcanon hasn't been confirmed by the show. Celestia controls the heavens (an act which at the very least, requires the efforts of multiple magic users), rules the land, is seemingly immortal and much more. It'll never be canon, but is it so crazy for some fans to think of her as a sun goddess?

Pic almost entirely unrelated.

Yes, and here's why. Things like Princess Molestia and Pinkie from Cupcakes are so separated from the original that the pretty much make up their own universe in and of themselves. I enjoy both of them actually, but at how rauchy and creepy Moleststia can be, and just how twisted the Cupcakes' Pinkie Pie's mindset really is. They're actually really interesting and enjoyable.

Rejecting the possibility of an episode completely on the basis that you believe in your mind Celestia is a god, and it'd be boring is restructuring the original to fit your idea of canon, (thank you by the way for correcting that for me.) which as we've seen, can indeed have repercussions on the show, should enough of the fandom think that way, and honestly, I'd like to see more of them, and to hear their history. Simply put, I rejected your original statement out of a selfish desire to quell any possible ruination to a future episode that may or may not come out...not the most rational of ideas, I'll admit, but hey, it's not too far fetched if you look at the creation of Derpy, by far the perfect example of my logic.

So I think we're on the same page here, I just don't think it was necessary brusque to the original commenter.

But of course there's a reason...it's anon. ;p
