This will be my final say on the rules before I head off to bed.
Wisp wanted us to discuss why we hated the rules. I'll give my 2 cents on them.
1.)NO Thumbing up just because it's ponies.
Sure, many of our posts don't deserve front page... but if we don't thumb them up, they get smitten to oblivion, easily reaching -30 thumbs if not more, scaring the person from ever trying to submit content again. How do I know? Because it happened to me. The first post I submitted got -6 thumbs in 10 minutes... 10 minutes... Scared the living daylights out of me, had me thinking something went wrong. So I deleted it.
2.)NO Thumbing down just because it's ponies.
Because haters will listen to a brony. That's like asking a nation to give up its army hoping and trusting every other country is nice enough not to attack.
3.)No "Hi, I'm a brony!" Posts
We don't have much freedom on FJ as bronies. All we have is a lovely community. We respond, we laugh, and we generally have a good time, welcoming a new member into a herd where they would normally be swallowed by the wolves if left alone. They don't get enough thumbs to even matter, I say let them continue, let us build a loving group who don't care about thumbs, just friendship.
4.)No Fan created pony posts.
That's just silly. Everything we create is fan created pony post... so basically you want ponytime to have no ponies in it? Just a badly worded rule.
5.)No posts about haters
This can be agreed upon. Posts about haters brings in more haters.
6.)No adding pony references to random pictures e.g. 20% Cooler.
Why not? It brings a tiny chuckle, an inside joke. Every channel has its inside jokes. Mass Effect: Garrus and his calibrations. Stoners: Uh... whatever they do it's all inside. Skyrim: Arrow to the knee jokes, etc... We all have it, it brings a smile to my face still and to many others.
