I'm really itching to play the new pokemon games but no 3ds. Is it worth the purchase of a 3ds just for pokemon and maybe other games like fire emblem and what not?

i bought pokemon Y last october, and a 3Ds in December and in my opinion its the best purchase i've ever made. I plan on getting at least 1 or 2 more games in the next year

Pokemon and Fire emblem awakening are really good games, I firmly recomend getting a 3DS or 2DS to play them.

I bought a 3DS to play Pickamons Y and it was definitely worth it. Then again, being the frugal creature I am, I acquired it second-hand from ebay, so didn't spend as much money as I could have done. Here's a tip if you're going to get one on ebay - buy it before the hype builds up for the new Pokiemans games; the prices shoot up if people know the's a new popular game coming out.

Pokemon will save the gaming industry from **** games.

A 3DS is definitely worth it, as with it you'll be able to play pretty much all the DS games, including DPP and BW/B2W2, as well as X and Y now and ORAS when it comes out.

You could get a 2DS for cheaper, and it'll work with all those games, but personally they look ugly as **** , and they can't fold down like the original DS and 3DS can.

There are a plethora of good games for the 3ds but you know yourself better than we do. If you know you're gonna stick with it and keep playing games then yeah (and there are a bunch of cheaper options like a used 2ds, a used 3ds(not xl)). But if your just gonna play pokemon once and be done with it probably not. I've personally never used this site but I know people who have and they find great deals all the time on consoles etc. www.cowboom.com/ )

Yes! Pokemon x/y is great, the 3rd gen remake is coming, fire emblem is super duper awesome and there are many other great games.

The newer Pokemon are OK its still Pokemon but 3d i feel the game was announced in a different light than what happened as you get (i think) one section of the game to ride the skiddo when if i remember they made that seem more promising, get to their safari zones to catch more Pokemon but with a lack of friends on your 3ds you wont get very far with that as many from that game won't be feasible without it. If you would have gotten it sooner for the free fire starter, torchic, you would have found that picking fennekin, would have been redundant, leaving an option for the water or grass but alas you get another one of the originals later making the whole round trio of starters the fairy types added more to fighting dragons with but easily beaten by steal types or a snorlax with heavey slam. I found many of the other games to be unfulfilled tbh, star fox is mainly a nostalgia game, a long with ocarina of time. Although I did enjoy A Link between Worlds, as the wall strolling was not that tedious and it was different yet not boring, completing the game was full-filling and gave a lil satisfaction as the story was unique ( to a degree). Fire emblem plays just like the others besides that you get your own character in this one ( my experience in these games are low so idk if they have done that before) as well as viewing the battle, which can actually be turned off to quicken the pace, which i recommend doing with the healers as otherwise you have to wait and watch a scene for someone to get healed. Bravely default was an interesting game with more than one ending, but i felt the game play extremely repetitive and easily broken on any of the bosses. (fight them find what they are weak against, if you lose readjust to that weakness go back and kick their ass, or turn up the random encounter rate and grind) but after the first ending i did not and still do not feel compelled to finish it again as it's (i think) a few more hours i felt would have been wasted.

Get it my child. Pokemon X-Y is really really good. And we are also getting Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, I think you should get one.

I'd say yes. Buy a 3DS bundled with a game to get you started (get an 3dsXL. trust me)
as for games?
Fire Emblem: Awakening is one of the best strategy games I have played.
pokemon X&Y was really solid, but lacked endgame stuff in my opinion.
Then there's the Zelda games and the newer mario titles. All good!

go for it mate!

My friend got a Mr. Mime in the wonder trade nicknamed "Senora Mime" and I don't think I've ever heard someone laugh harder.
