Its a Light type. They're making a new type and making an eeveelution the first of its kind like what they did with Umbreon.
#133 to #87 - scorpiogary (02/16/2013) [-]
they can't, its too far into the series. What pokemon previously would have there types changed? I can only think of like Lantern and Chimecko. There would be to big of a type gap unless they introduced a **** ton of them. I just don't think its worth it when many of the pokemon that could be light type could easily fall under the normal, electric, or psychic type
#83 - anon (02/14/2013) [-]
youre forgetting normal.

inb4 eevee is normal. wnhy if someone wanted a more powerful normal?

maybe they have girl and boy normal evolutions

that would be pretty cool actually

Yeah if she (if it is a she) wasn't a pink and frilly and stuff. :C If it is true then I bet that the male version is going to be blue. Sorry for being a depressing party-pooper.
User avatar #10 - vegetatheprince (02/14/2013) [-]
I think it may be the rumored light type.
#54 - anon (02/14/2013) [-]
no idea if this was commented before or not and i just don't feel like logging in, but my theory is with X and Y being the titles it's prolly some gender based evo I mean can you imagine this thing as a boy? It'll either be normal or some new type
User avatar #48 - ChromedDragon (02/14/2013) [-]
it's clearly normal
User avatar #15 - asdfghjklasdfghjk (02/14/2013) [-]
I think they went with a normal type. The bow on its neck could be like the pink bow hold item that raises normal type attacks. maybe?
#57 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
No actually it seems to me that they're going away from the type variation Eeveevolutions. X and Y seems to be a play on Gender chromosomes. Hence the choice of Red, a more feminine colour being used for the Y, and the masculine blue for the X. If you find the French name for Sylveon it is Nymphali - A play on a gender specific word if you break it down to the "Nymph" part, which is supported by the feminine ribbons and pink colour-scheme.

HOWEVER, and more likely - It could also be a play on the word "Nymphale" or "pupal" in English - As in "Pupa" an insect life-stage; which makes her a BUG TYPE.

Also it could just basically be: Sylveon = Sylver = Silver, which would mean STEEL TYPE.

The second guess would be my choice
User avatar #86 to #57 - RisenLichen (02/14/2013) [-]
It's a Light type. They're making a new type and making the first of its kind an eeveelution, like what they did with umbreon.
User avatar #88 to #86 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Unlikely. I've heard of this "Light Type" before. They scraped the idea because of people complaining that it would be too similar to lightning/dragon/flying types.
#134 to #88 - scorpiogary (02/16/2013) [-]

User avatar #89 to #88 - RisenLichen (02/14/2013) [-]
They didn't scrap it. She's a light type
User avatar #91 to #89 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
And they did. Twice. In Gen II and Gen III
User avatar #92 to #91 - RisenLichen (02/14/2013) [-]
Thumbing me down cause I disagree with you? K.

Well, they did that in Gen II with Umbreon, so its very likely that they'll do it here.

Also, where's your proof they scrapped it?
User avatar #93 to #92 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Why is it very likely? 4 generations on and suddenly it likely?
For your info i didnt thumb you down originally. I havent thumbed down anyone here.
User avatar #94 to #93 - RisenLichen (02/14/2013) [-]
because they came out with the pokemon and said she would be light

Why would it be unlikely? because they hadn't made a type in 4 gens?
User avatar #97 to #94 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
The Type and evolution method havent been revealed.
User avatar #100 to #97 - RisenLichen (02/14/2013) [-]

No they didnt. What ******** .
User avatar #96 to #95 - RisenLichen (02/14/2013) [-]
yes..yes they did. They said it would be likely, sure that doesn't mean it is going to happen but it doesnt mean that its not

User avatar #116 to #112 - RisenLichen (02/14/2013) [-]
Ok, so because YOU say its not going to be light, that means its not? There's a lot of guesses but people are leaning towards light because if it is light, then they'll be a dragon/steel/light three way weakness like fire/water/grass. So don't say its not ******* possible just because there's no definitive proof of it.
User avatar #104 to #103 - darklit (02/14/2013) [-]
Ot you could go to You need to login to view this link at You need to login to view this link were they would have the real information...
User avatar #108 to #104 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
I did look already at the official pages. Unfortunately they shed no more light on the type than anywhere else
User avatar #106 to #104 - RisenLichen (02/14/2013) [-]
He thinks I'm saying its true. I'm saying its popular speculation.
User avatar #110 to #106 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Its a completely unsupported speculation. You have nothing to base that speculation on. Just cuz its popular doesn't make it intelligent.
User avatar #114 to #110 - RisenLichen (02/14/2013) [-]
So people can't make guesses? You're making assumptions based on the looks and name of the pokemon. Is sudowoodo a grass type? I think not.
User avatar #119 to #114 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Sudowoodo is a clever combination pun: Sudo comes from the word "Pseudo" meaning "false" False + wood. Falsewood. Means it looks like wood but isn't!
User avatar #121 to #119 - RisenLichen (02/14/2013) [-]
I didn't know that.
User avatar #125 to #121 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
So if Char means to burn then I would guess that its a fire type even if I had never seen it.
User avatar #124 to #121 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Charmander is a combination of Salamander and Char (To burn)
User avatar #123 to #121 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
And im mad because Im trying to be intelligent about WHY we would guess which type Sylveon is gonna be. A logical reason to guess which type
User avatar #122 to #121 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
There is intelligence behind the names... Like the new Fennekin is named after the Fennek Fox
User avatar #90 to #89 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Your proof?
User avatar #69 to #57 - drumtastic (02/14/2013) [-]
Um . . . X is the female chromosome. Y is the male one.
User avatar #73 to #69 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Like me, the Japanese are backwards... Nah. You are quite right. I did screw up there. Although different cultures have different beliefs and in the past pink was considered a masculine colour
User avatar #79 to #73 - drumtastic (02/14/2013) [-]
Well, that's true.
User avatar #80 to #79 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Anyway, I just did all this to give people some actual direction in the way they speculate the future of Pokemon. Have to consider all the possibilities
User avatar #77 to #57 - mhden (02/14/2013) [-]
or it could just come from Greek Legend the Nymphs that were spirits , making it a Ghost type .
User avatar #78 to #77 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Did mention the spirit connection when I spoke of Sylph
User avatar #58 to #57 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Oh I didn't mention the other play on the word "Sylph" a mythological creature that is considered an air elemental spirit; That could make her FLYING TYPE and less likely GHOST TYPE or the surprising twist of FLYING/GHOST TYPE
User avatar #61 to #58 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
So best guesses are FLYING or BUG
User avatar #62 to #61 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Or even a combo. The ribbons say wind, the bows say butterfly
User avatar #67 to #62 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Then there's the Japanese name "Ninfia" or a Ninfea (Nymphaea) - A water lilly. which leads to a thought of "beauty" which brings me back to "Female"
User avatar #85 - dafuckisthishit (02/14/2013) [-]
i have a horrible feeling it will be psychic and a **** defense heavy one , with a ****** move pool...

if it was normal type it would look much more like evee in my opinion
#9 - manwithatoaster (02/13/2013) [-]
Judging by how majestic it looks and the fact that all eeveelutions are special-based types, it would probably be a Dragon-type

Having said that quite a few times, I'm gonna shut up now.
User avatar #55 - ajperry (02/14/2013) [-]
First of all, her name is Sylveon. And secondly, there is a good chance its either Normal or Flying.
User avatar #56 to #55 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
How about a play on the word "Silver"? Hmmm?
User avatar #70 to #56 - ajperry (02/14/2013) [-]
I thought that at first as well but does she honestly look like a steel type?
User avatar #74 to #70 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
No, but im discussing every option. Flying is certainly an option, but normal isn't.
User avatar #75 to #74 - ajperry (02/14/2013) [-]
Why is normal not an option? It's what Eevee would evolve into if.

She wasn't near an ice or a leaf stone, she wasn't fed any evolution stone, and her love meter wasn't high enough to evolve into Umbreon or Espeon.
User avatar #128 to #75 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
Nah, the think about Eevee is that its genetic code is unstable, so it evolves to whatever stimuli it is exposed to so as to better adapt itself to the circumstances. It wont evolve to a normal type because it doesn't have to. Besides which every Eeveevolution can use normal type attacks
User avatar #129 to #128 - ajperry (02/14/2013) [-]
See I suppose that makes sense good sir.

I'm opting for flying then.

But we did see it using swift ( the starry move )....
User avatar #130 to #129 - sabdoor (02/14/2013) [-]
All the moves it used in the teaser video were normal type moves to hide it's type.
User avatar #131 to #130 - ajperry (02/14/2013) [-]
That makes a lot of sense now.
User avatar #52 - thenamlessguy (02/14/2013) [-]
All you who say normal: Eevee is normal.

I think it's flying, as the name "Sylveon" is possibly taken from "Sylph", which is a type of wind demon or something.
User avatar #37 - drperzik (02/14/2013) [-]
i dont know why, but it might be just a female gender evo? Because i only see this ******* thing as a normal type..
#33 - anon (02/14/2013) [-]
They did announce the English name. It is Sylveon
User avatar #35 to #33 - aninnymouse (02/14/2013) [-]
Darn. Beat me to to it. I'm starting to think it might be metal type, but idk. (Cause the name sounds like Silver, kinda? idk.) I'm still hoping for a Normal evolution. :3
User avatar #36 to #35 - aninnymouse (02/14/2013) [-]
It might be flying though.. Its ribbon thingies were all blowy and stuff, like it had an air aura or something. Who knows.
User avatar #38 to #36 - aninnymouse (02/14/2013) [-]
Actually, looking at the video.. I'm betting on normal. She uses swift and what may possibly be hyper beam, as well as some weird card thing that would logically be normal or psychic. (But since we already have Espie, why would there be another psychic?) /watch?v=wh8oR_IAR6s
User avatar #45 to #33 - phdinmagic (02/14/2013) [-]
a prefix occurring in loanwords from Greek, having the same function as co- ( synthesis; synoptic ); used, with the meaning “with,” “together,” in the formation of compound words ( synsepalous ) or “synthetic” in such compounds ( syngas ).
Also, sy-, syl-, sym-, sys-.

[sil-vuh] Show IPA
1.the forest trees of a particular area.
2.a descriptive flora of forest trees.
Also, sylva.

so, a symbiotic forest creature? sounds like plant, but we already have leafeon...
#31 - repeatbitch (02/14/2013) [-]
totally a flying type
#28 - elebel (02/14/2013) [-]
only problem i have with Ninfia is every other eeveeluton has ended in eon. So what is so special about this one?
User avatar #29 to #28 - nympheon (02/14/2013) [-]
Ninfia is the Japanese name. we don't have her english name yet.
User avatar #32 to #29 - gentlemanpirate (02/14/2013) [-]
According to Serebii she's called Sylveon. Doesn't help with guessing the type though
#30 to #29 - elebel (02/14/2013) [-]
That makes a lot more sense to me. I feel stupid now.
User avatar #34 to #28 - epiccore (02/14/2013) [-]
Could this be a "Beauty" based eeveelution?
Maybe this one is just a normal type?

Hell, I don't know, but I'd like to find out.
User avatar #63 to #28 - huszti (02/14/2013) [-]
plot twist: its the evolution of an eeveelution.
