Why? It's only good for special attacks like physic not physical.

In Gold and Silver, the Special attack stat effected special-typed attacks (fire, water, ice, electric, grass, psychic, dark, etc.), so giving the Abra-tree elemental punches gave it the diversity it lacked during that generation.

Oh I see it now. So after 4th gen they became physical.

3rd gen actually. That's when they started dividing moves into physical, special, and status based on what they did rather than type.

Physical attack base 20.

Special attack base 105.

Gee, I wonder if that nature makes any difference.

its line has base 20->35->50 attack and base 105->120->135 special attack
nature is a plus or minus 10 percent
so your abra now has 22 base attack instead of 105 base special (at level 50 if still abra 79 attack if max IVs and EVs, and 157 special attack with a neutral nature EV trained special attack)

Up until fourth gen they classified special attack and attack based on move type, not the individual moves.

Yet those are very weak moves. If Alakazam puts up reflect at the beginning of the fight, he can take a few punches too. Anyhow, on the account of spec. def, Alakazam kan also learn psyshock, which uses his spec. attack and his opponents normal defence.

Not trying to start a butthurt argument or anything, I just really think Alakazam is a badass. Hitmonchan is really cool too.

It took me a couple years to figure that out. I was like well he is punching so that must be physical. (I was six when I got Pokemon red)

I preferred HItmonlee. He had a higher Attack stat than Hitmonchan.
