Shuckle is a beast with gyroball and power trick, especially if you can get trick room going before hand with another Pokemon. Just make sure he has a focus sash because the one turn you use power trick he'll pretty much be a OHKO. After that gyroball can clean up the rest of your opponents team, unless they manage to have a slower Pokemon than you or sturdy/focus sash .

As good as that sounds in theory it sucks in practice.
User avatar #114 to #94 - etrian (07/18/2013) [-]
It's a gamble, and the best strategy I've heard about for sweeping with him.
#115 to #114 - jmillenium (07/19/2013) [-]
I'm sorry but shuckle just isn't for sweeping.
User avatar #116 to #115 - etrian (07/19/2013) [-]
You can sweep with just about anything, getting it to work is the challenging part. And the set up to sweep with shuckle isn't as intense as the ones I've seen for magikarp or weedle. A lot of other strategies I've seen take a ton of stat boosting and baton pass.
#117 to #116 - jmillenium (07/19/2013) [-]
Just because you can doesn't you should. I can put my penis in a soda can but I still probably shouldn't. I'm mean you want wouldn't wall with Deoxys attack form why sweep with shuckle.
User avatar #120 to #117 - etrian (07/19/2013) [-]
Also you're using flawed logic, using shuckle to sweep won't cause you bodily harm like cramming your dick into a pop can would.
#121 to #120 - jmillenium (07/19/2013) [-]
You know what I meant with that comment, the design for shuckle defies the strategy you're setting up for it. And trust me shock factor only helps yo so much in competitive play. I'm sorry but you're gonna have to make a bigger case to convince me.
User avatar #122 to #121 - etrian (07/19/2013) [-]
I never said use for competitive play, maybe just against friends until that strategy becomes foreseeable or in game like the battle tower or something. Because that strat turns him into a glass cannon who can deal enough to OHKO with the risk of OHKO himself.
User avatar #119 to #117 - etrian (07/19/2013) [-]
There are a lot of reasons: Challenge, shock factor, and Shuckle is in the never used category so it can be hard to counter to name a few.

Shuckle is actually a damn good pokemon. I understand that this is supposed to be a show of irony, but I would never release a shuckle. That little **** wins battles

Eh, Power Trick Shuckle is just a funny concept. Never usable in any practical battle.

Maybe it was a crystal only thing, but the shuckle given to you was nicknamed Shuckie.
User avatar #8 to #6 - furrynomous (07/18/2013) [-]
T'was like that in gold too. I'm not sure why I gave Shuckie back.
User avatar #9 to #6 - pokemonnuzlocke (07/18/2013) [-]
It's been a while since i played 2nd gen but I think when releasing pokemon it says the name of the pokemon, not its nickname.
Not sure though.

You don't ****** with the shuckie.
User avatar #3 - FtouGR (07/18/2013) [-]
i think i read somewhere that shuckle is the pokemon that can deal the most damage. you dun goofed. xD

I'm pretty sure it has the highest defense and spec defense to
#21 to #3 - anon (07/18/2013) [-]
Shuckle sucks. Sure, if you set it up perfectly, shuckle would hit the hardest. But any pokemon with +6 hits hard. Choice band kyruem-b is easily the hardest hitting pokemon around. (Discounting ubers)
User avatar #5 to #3 - euchreplayer (07/18/2013) [-]
Yup. While in a triple battle under sun with both of its partners with flower gift under sun, at +6 attack, using power trick, with a skill swap to get pure or huge power, with a defense curl right before rollout, on the fifth consecutive hit with helping hand bonus, and landing a critical hit, it deals 213,896,052 damage against a pokemon 4x weak to rock with a -6 defense such as ledyba or yanma. (Assuming I remembered everything needed to set it up.)
#69 to #5 - savagemuffin (07/18/2013) [-]
plot twist: The Ledyba has a focus sash allowing it to stay alive at 1 HP and uses Counter, which doubles the damage it just took. 427,792,104 damage from a Ledyba.

#97 to #69 - anon (07/18/2013) [-]
counter only doubles the damage the pokemon took. So if said ledyba had 100 hp and the focus sash left it with 1, counter would only do 198 damage.

What the **** is a triple battle?
User avatar #79 to #11 - dapianoman (07/18/2013) [-]
Well, think about it. A double battle=2 pokemon vs. 2 pokemon. Follow that logic, a triple battle=?
User avatar #13 to #12 - YllekNayr ONLINE (07/18/2013) [-]
Really? Just because I've never played past gen 4?
User avatar #15 to #13 - bench (07/18/2013) [-]
I haven't played passed gen 3, but tell me what else could 'triple battle' ever mean in pokemon?
User avatar #16 to #15 - YllekNayr ONLINE (07/18/2013) [-]
3 pokemon on the field at once.

3 trainers fighting at once.

Either scenario is entirely foreign to me, and makes no sense the way I picture it.
User avatar #17 to #16 - bench (07/18/2013) [-]
In ruby and sapphire 'double battle's' are introduced into the series and from this it can only make sense that if a third 'pokemon' was introduced it would be called triple battle... you get the idea?
User avatar #18 to #17 - YllekNayr ONLINE (07/18/2013) [-]

I don't see why people are thumbing you down, it would only be common sense what a triple battle is if you already know what a double battle is.

Jesus, this is why I occasionally hate this community, someday it's going to be completely expected of us to know all pokemon to 5th generation.

Before you know it people will be nostalgia-ing over adventure time and gravity falls.

Indeed. Extremely difficult to set up as your opponent would have to be brain dead to not see it coming. Trick room support would probably be necessary for shuckle not get ko'ed assuming they don't have any priority moves in the first place.

Are those real things? Sadly, pokemon came out just past the age where I got to game all day and I work a lot and that is just one I never really got to play much yet but is on the to do list. It's like your speaking another language to me.

The ****** ridiculous. It never has to be that complicated when you play the games, if you're just playing the game to play the game it's as simple as catching the most badass monsters you can find and kicking other peoples asses. But when you start battling against other people, the **** gets off the chain. All that stuff the dude mentioned is basically a science behind the mechanics of the game, all of them little tactics that competitive challengers use with their team, it's amazing to see a game be that complex deep down, but at the same time so ******* absurd.

when i was VERY young my brother gave a his Pokemon gold cause he got silver (they had just come out) and i couldn't read the word RELEASE and didn't know what it would do and i accidentally released my typhlosion... and i cried on the kitchen floor for an hour.

Did you consider turning it off and back on?
User avatar #31 to #29 - ihatecarltonbanks (07/18/2013) [-]
as ironic as that is "turn it on and off again" seems to always be the solution.. with pokemon it is. and yeah after my brother found me he picked up gameboy turned it off and on again and set it back down and i lost maybe an hour or two of progress.
