I love it when my friends tell me

"Why haven't you applied to job X at Y place?"

"Look at all these job ads, there are jobs out there, why don't you get one?"

"Why don't you get a job?"

"You need a drivers license to get this job? Why not just get a license?"

I wish my friends would understand when there's a 22% unemployment rate (not counting people studying) for people in my age, that it isn't easy getting a job when there's 400-500 other people applying for that very same job you just applied for.

******* hate the employment politics in my country. For nearly every part-time job, you have to be either studying or working 20h/week because of these ****** up rules. I have to basicly HAVE a job to GET a job.

Also nearly every job requires dumbass experience.
You want to be a waitor? Must have 3 years experience and education in waitering.
You want to be a mailman? Must have a drivers license.
You want to be X? Must have either education or several years of experience even though the job is not even close to rocket science.

**** me, some cleaning jobs even require education, I get that some cleaning jobs can have chemicals that you need to know, but it doesn't require me to ******* study for half a year or more to know.

All I want is a job working in a warehouse, but no, must have X-years of experience or truck + drivers license.
Anyone care to guess where I live?

I applied to every single restaurant in the city. Every. Single. One. The one place that I actually thought would hire me that they wanted somebody who had prior experience dish washing to be their dishwasher. Prior experience. For dish washing. Needless to say I haven't found a job and turned to donating plasma for money until I can find one.

I've tried all of the warehouse and packing jobs as well as applying to my campus but the campus has **** hours and the warehouse and packing jobs won't work with my school schedule so I am ****** .
#76 to #68 - kuci ONLINE (02/27/2014) [-]
Exactly my point, I got lucky to work as a dishwasher through a friend for a month though, but it is not "1-2 years of experience" as most jobs require.

I'm guessing you live in the US. I was where you are a few years ago. I couldn't find a job to save my life for about a year and a half. I had a little quarter life crisis when I realized how broke the system is. You just need to learn how to find a job. The market is crap, but the are always entry level jobs with high turnaround that are always hiring in huge numbers. For me in indianapolis that is integrity staffing, they hire for the amazon warehouse. There are also temp agencies that are pretty much a guarantee hire. The hours a crap and the work is not guaranteed, but its a quick way to make a buck, and it will insure that you no gaps of unemployment in your resume.

Norrköping born and raised, what a beatifull town, to bad its 25% youth unemployment
and sure it also means 75% got a job or school, but ussaly to get a job you should have connections... I lost my mom when i was just a kid, my dad is unemplyed, and any relatives I have was uneployed aswell when i was getting through highschool

Ill be 25 this year and I have worked for about 20 months total, and both of that was through "förstärkt särskilt anställnings stöd" which means once Im no longer employed I get nothing

Yeah you'd think so, but we have a high unemployment rate amongst the youth. Pretty sure we're in the middle of Europe when it comes to unemployment amongst youth.

It's really hard to get a job when you don't have a drivers license, education in a specific area or several years experience.

I struggle with the same thing here in Norway, been without a job for about 5-6 months now, and I got to say, it's tragic how hard it is to get a job. I don't have drivers license so I can't get a job outside the island I live on, about 20k living here, and I've applied to every job I have a chance of getting. But noo, zero, zip, nothing, nada. Only got to two interviews, and they didn't want me. Couldn't even get a job at McDonalds even though I have job experience from jobs like that, and I've had two years at chefschool. So I understand your struggle, and how annoying it is when people ask stupid questions and say idiotic **** like "Just get a job/you ain't trying hard enough/I'ts not that hard to get a job".

Took me 6 months to get a job at Drammen.
They key is odd, but simple. Same goes for getting an apartment:
Browse a LOT. Submit EARLY. Look respectable, and catch the person interviewing off guard by asking questions about THEIR positions, statuses, e.t.c.
By doing so, you are indirectly proving that you won't have no ****** job; or at least the fact that you want to have a mutual relationship with the company.
Worked for me; but i took a different route.

I am so fukken invested into YouTube and online video making, it would be a loss for me to quit that hobby, and so i SHOWERED the dude that asked me questions with enthusiasm about what matters to me. That's not recommended, but it worked on the hair. Now i have been here for about 15 months.

But the most important stuff is pretty much to always submit simple CV's and resume's fast, and always be prepared FOR the interviews like... 3 hours later.
By stats, one need to submit 100 CV's to get 1 interview. I got 4 out of 60, like this.

I like how Norways unemployment rate is like, 2% for the whole country whilst Swedens is around 8%.

I don't know about people from 18-30 though.

I do agree that it's getting ridiculous, how much experience or education you need for simple tasks. I've even seen high schools focused on doing workhouse labour, it's just ******* retarded!
User avatar #60 to #50 - wthree (02/27/2014) [-]
The problem is that it makes sense.

Because there are too few jobs, employers can be extra picky about who they employ, and so they do. Whereas before, they might have had to high someone with little to no experience and train them up because there were so many other jobs going at the time, now they can ask for an experienced employee because there are so many experienced unemployed people looking for that kind of job.
#72 to #60 - kuci ONLINE (02/27/2014) [-]

User avatar #46 to #6 - cannibalvegan ONLINE (02/27/2014) [-]
A lot of people complain about people complaining about being unemployed do that because a lot of the people saying that there are no jobs just basically mean that there are no jobs they want. People have to understand that if there are no jobs they like then they have to get a **** job just to survive and then work their way up.
User avatar #56 to #46 - wthree (02/27/2014) [-]
Except that's not actually true.

How is it not true?
User avatar #96 to #94 - wthree (02/27/2014) [-]
Because what you just said is wrong. In most cases, there are no jobs at all (or specifically, jobs they can actually get). It's nothing to do with "doing a job they want", the majority of the unemployed are not just putting off jobs because they don't want to do them.

Dude, a mailman which carries out letters either by foot or bicycling and I'm required to have a drivers license?

When do I drive a car?

Also, a lot of jobs which don't have any "car-driving work" still require that you have a drivers license.

Which is near impossible to get if you have very, very low income.
User avatar #97 to #52 - sursum (02/27/2014) [-]
I guess it's deferent in Sweden, but where I live, and everywhere else I've been pretty much, mail delivery is motorised, if not a truck them buy a mailman on a motorcycle.
#99 to #97 - kuci ONLINE (02/28/2014) [-]
It's mostly bicycles that the mailman uses, I live in the center (Linnéstaden) in which traffic does tend to become quite heavy during rush hours.
User avatar #66 to #52 - stenchschleifs (02/27/2014) [-]
Even if you might not drive in work they can on certain reason require that you have one.
-Get to work in time, bus and train is not a reliable transportation.
-At some point they could need you to drive at some point in the future.
-It could also be a very simply way to judge if you are capable of working, a way to determent how stupid you actually is.
And if someone looks for a job, of course they would chose the other applier, with a driver license.
#75 to #66 - kuci ONLINE (02/27/2014) [-]
I would agree with the get to work in time if I hadn't lived in the 2nd largest city in Sweden, which has busses and trams going every 10 minutes, during rush hour, even less I think.

To your 2nd point, getting a license would of course be amongst the first things I'd put my money on which means I should have it ready for that "one time" they need me to drive.

To the third point, it is not a determent of how stupid someone is, it is a way of seeing if the person has had enough money for a license.
Getting a license won't be difficult, there's very few people I've heard of failing the tests more than 3 times.
User avatar #78 to #75 - stenchschleifs (02/27/2014) [-]

även mitt i sommaren.
#98 to #78 - kuci ONLINE (02/28/2014) [-]

Västtrafik - Makes people walk.
User avatar #100 to #98 - stenchschleifs (02/28/2014) [-]
#101 to #100 - kuci ONLINE (02/28/2014) [-]
