I live in an old farm house in Wales and our kitchen tap used to be really slow flowing until one day a tiny bit of black skin came out of the end.
My mum took the tap apart and there was an decaying bat stuck in there that had taken months to clear through the pipes.
I drank water from it pretty much everyday

I use to a bit of laboring with a plumber when I was 16/17 years old. Anyway, one day we get a house call. Some wee wifey is saying all the taps are just trickling water out. We go up into the loft and have a look in the water tank, The guy I was working with put his hand in and pulled out a mother ******* dead pigeon!!... Apparently dead animals blocking it are the most common thing...

Sometimes if there is a small hole or gap in your roof a bird/mice or what have you will get in to escape the cold... and I guess its just natural for them try and get water?? If the do manage get into the water tank its usually impossible for them to get back out, so they drown and then the dead body absorbs water over days/weeks... eventually going to the bottom of the tank. Hell, you could have 1 or 2 in yours just now, they might just not be blocking the exit pipe from the tank...

Don't worry though, water from the tank usually only goes to your bathroom, so its not as bad as drinking it. Most of the time water in your kitchen comes direct from the mains

Have you ever seen a water tank?? In a lot of the older houses they don't even have a top on them for some reason... they should, but over the years something has happened to them or a lazy plumber from before just hasn't been bothered to put the top back on...

Can that kind of **** happen to water from Wells?
User avatar #60 to #49 - peggscott (03/21/2013) [-]
If it goes directly to your house I would assume so... But it might be easier for them to climb out??

But I honestly don't really know how wells are connected up to a house...
