It's like a reverse jump scare. The normal part is only a couple of frames and the scary person is the majority of it.

Scariest moment was when the clown ripped of his clothing and revealed that he was just a Sweet Transvestite the whole time.

That would've been hilarious, or did it actually happen? I've never seen the movie.

no it didnt happen, its a reference to rocky horror picture show in which tim curry (the clown) played a transvestite.

I haven't read the book, though I agree that the movie does have a lot of flaws.
Like when the clown turns into a dog and kills the security guard.
Or the kids not throwing the book away when the clown appeared in the photo and scare the **** out of them.
Or the fact that the characters were suppose to be scared of balloons flying everywhere, but none of that fear rubbed onto the viewer because the clown doesn't do ****.
Though some of that might just of been king's doing.

ehh i read the book awhile ago so i don't remember everything, i know the scene with the picture book is in there and the kid does throw it away after a minute or something

i just found the book better because it allowed for you to be lead into the story slower and for some reason that made it better, after reaching halfway through the book and you still don't know what the **** It actually is and being showed each character's personality one by one and such

plus im sure the scene with the girl of the groups father, who was actually "it" chasing her around the house yelling he's gonna eat her cunt, or them as kids ******* her in the sewers after beating "it" the first time

i could be wrong on that last part, never finished the movie

Yeah they edited out that gangbang scene from the movie for obvious reasons according to wikipedia.
I don't see the point of kids ******* in a horror novel anyway.

it was because the magic or watever that was "leading" them out of the sewers was going away and apparently gangbanging is a magical thing so it was to keep the magic with them or watever

i think King just wanted people to feel really uncomfortable, he writes that scene with detail

Or maybe he was really high when he wrote it.
Sorta like how he was coked out while directing Maximum Overdrive.

I feel you I thought the book was much better, I felt like it scared me more than the movie because of the slow progression, like you mentioned.

I don't think it's possible for a visual media such as film to be able to make you feel as connected to the characters as Steven King's writing did. I almost felt like I grew up with those characters when I read the book.

Actually pretty shocked myself, I agreed with an opinion stated over the internet - then again, not many people can argue that a film would/is better than a Stephen King book.
